Not much new music was released in the last week as singles and albums were pushed back out of respect for the protestors risking their lives to combat anti-Black racism in the middle of a pandemic. Still, a number of people have been looking for music to entertain them during this historic time. We saw some artists release new protest anthems in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, and others drop their regularly-planned programming. Our staff gathered up our personal favorites from the last several weeks for the new update of the TIDAL Wave playlist.
We start off with a stretch of music that will wake you right up, including Meek Mill's new single "Otherside of America" and select sounds from Run The Jewels, Flatbush Zombies, and Freddie Gibbs. This week's update is filled with RTJ4 tracks, also complemented by a number of selections from FBZ's new album now, more than ever.
Elsewhere on the tracklist, there are offerings from Gunna, Lil Durk, Sleepy Hallow, Conway, Joell Ortiz and KXNG Crooked, Leon Bridges, Lil Yachty, and more.

HNHH TIDAL Wave: Lil Wayne & Freddie Gibbs Highlight A Hard Week
This week's playlist includes new music from Lil Wayne, Lil Yachty, Freddie Gibbs, Conway, Kevin Gates, Travis Scott, Juice WRLD, Gunna, and more.
This was not an ordinary week. We won't pretend as though it was. There is a revolution happening outside and, although we would love to solely focus on music and the regular hip-hop news, that's not entirely appropriate right now.
We have made an effort across our editorial staff to bring you news from the protests in addition to some hip-hop news. This week, labels and artists decided to push back their releases and, although there was still some new music released today, it was to a much lesser degree than what was expected.
Every week, we update our TIDAL-exclusive TIDAL Wave playlist with the songs that our staff has been feeling the hardest. If you've been turning to music for a temporary distraction from the world that surrounds us, check out the updates we've made this week.
We start off with one of the stand-outs from Lil Wayne's brand new Funeral deluxe edition before bringing you the fire "T.D." freestyle from Lil Yachty's new album with Tierra Whack, A$AP Rocky, and Tyler, The Creator. Next up on the docket is Conway's "Front Lines" effort before Freddie Gibbs and The Alchemist take over.
We've also got new cuts from G Herbo, Kevin Gates, SAINt JHN and Future, RMR, ROSALÍA and Travis Scott, 6LACK, Aminé, and more. Check out our individual contributions below and sign up for a TIDAL trial here.

Jay-Z Shares Protest Playlist "Songs For Survival 2"
Jay-Z creates a new protest-centric playlist, featuring songs by 2Pac, James Brown, Public Enemy, Nina Symone, Jay Electronica, and more.
Jay-Z took out full-page advertisements on behalf of Roc Nation, celebrating the life of George Floyd after he was ruthlessly killed by Derek Chauvin, a fired police officer. The legend is known to be a social activist and, although his moves may not please everybody all the time, he is making sure that we all have the right playlist in our ears as we head out to protest peacefully.
The 50-year-old has shared a brand new playlist, filled with songs that will get you thinking, as the protests continue. Titled "Songs For Survival 2," the rap icon has included records by himself, Jay Electronica, Nina Symone, James Brown, and more. He's also got Syl Johnson's "Is It Because I'm Black," 2Pac's "Keep Ya Head Up," Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On," and more tracks that could be used to describe the current social climate.
The uplifting playlist is available exclusively TIDAL, featuring seventeen songs.
Jay-Z previously made his voice heard by speaking with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz about the death of George Floyd, pushing them to take this moment seriously and do the right thing in terms of prosecuting Derek Chauvin and the three other officers responsible for his death.
Check out the playlist below.
HNHH & TuneCore Present "Heat Seekers" Artist Spotlight: Big Dawg Johnson
Following the reveal of Tye Harris, HNHH & TuneCore are pleased to announce Big Dawg Johnson as the latest “Heat Seekers” artist.
Last year, HNHH and TuneCore partnered up to launch the extensive “Heat Seekers” contest, an eleven-week showcase designed to highlight some of the game’s best unsigned talent. After a lengthy search and plenty of submissions, Mr. Lightupp was ultimately declared to be the winner. Now, we’re back with another edition of the “Heat Seekers” challenge, picking up with our new format designed to highlight some of the twelve competitors. HNHH TIDAL Wave: Future Takes Command With "High Off Life"
This week's TIDAL Wave playlist update includes new music from Future, Polo G, Lil Keed, Gunna, Joyner Lucas, slowthai, and more.
With each new week, we've been blessed to receive some incredible new musical contributions. It seems like the quarantine was beneficial to most artists, giving them enough free time at home to complete projects that were on the backburner.
Out of absolutely nowhere, Future announced that his new album, High Off Life, would be out and last week, he delivered. With over twenty new songs and tons of replay value so far, the project has earned a number of selections on this week's update of the staff-curated TIDAL Wave playlist. In fact, I would go so far as to say he completely dominated this week.
Each staff member at HotNewHipHop shares a different music taste. Some of us rock with a more lyrical style of rap while others vibe heavier with production-based trap songs. It seems as though, no matter your preference, Future was a hit at our (presently unoccupied) headquarters. We've included several tracks from the new album, including "Solitaires" with Travis Scott, "Trillionaire" with Youngboy Never Broke Again, "Ridin Strikers," "Trapped In The Sun," and more on the playlist this week.
Elsewhere on the list, we've got the new singles from Lil Keed, Gunna, Gunplay (with Rick Ross), Chloe x Halle, and more.

Jay-Z Shares Favorite Songs Of 2020: Lil Baby, Drake, Future, & More
Jay-Z shares a list of his favorite songs of 2020 (so far) including Lil Uzi Vert, Jay Electronica, Kehlani, Boldy James, Lil Baby, Drake, Future, Megan Thee Stallion, Polo G, and more.
Getting a co-sign from Jay-Z probably feels surreal for an artist that has been hustling to make it for years. Known globally as one of the best rappers of all time, the Roc Nation head honcho is respected as one of the premier faces in the music industry. His ideas surpass music though, heading over into all aspects of sports and entertainment.
As we near the midway point of the year (already!?). Jay-Z gathered together a list of his personal favorite songs of 2020 so far, showing love to some of the usual characters, and also taking notice of some younger talents.
Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images
The list starts off with Lil Baby and "Emotionally Scarred," before the Atlanta rapper appears again with "Sum 2 Prove" and "Grace" with 42 Dugg. Jay-Z is also clearly a big fan of what Polo G has been bringing to the table, shouting out the rising star for "Heartless" with Mustard. At #3, his wife makes an appearance on the remix of Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage." Elsewhere on the 20-song gathering, Jay Electronica makes several appearances, which makes total sense given Hov's involvement in the release of his debut album.
Jay-Z was also busy listening to some of the newer releases, including Future's High Off Life, of which he included "Hard To Choose One." Drake and The Weeknd earn their spots before Westside Gunn, Boldy James, Benny The Butcher, and Conway of Griselda impress the legend.

HNHH TIDAL Wave: 6ix9ine, Drake, Kehlani, & NAV Shine This Week
This week's playlist update includes new music from Migos, Lil Tjay, Lil Durk, Chris Brown, Young Thug, and many more.
Damn, what an interesting week for new music. As we were all dissecting the Drake mixtape and Chris Brown and Young Thug's collaborative project, the hip-hop world exploded when none other than the self-proclaimed King of New York, Tekashi 6ix9ine, returned with a new single. That's where things start off in the new TIDAL Wave playlist update.
Every week, the HNHH staff goes over all of the recent releases in hip-hop and R&B, putting together a list of our favorite bops and packaging them together for your enjoyment.
Last week, Drake ruled the playlist and, seven days later, he's still maintained a good number of his spots. From the Dark Lane Demo Tapes, we're featuring "Time Flies," "Landed," and more.
Of course, this update would be nothing if not for last week's new album releases. We were blessed with new music from Kehlani, who takes up multiple spots on TIDAL Wave. NAV also came through with an effort that surprised a lot of people, earning several spots as well. Another star rapper, Lil Durk, also finds his way on the list.
Check out the playlist below and let us know who has your favorite picks. If you're not signed up to TIDAL yet, take advantage of their free 60-day trial here.

Beyoncé Curated Her Own "Classy, Bougie, Ratchet" Playlist
Beyoncé put together a playlist of her favourite "classy, bougie, ratchet" songs in honour of her and Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage" remix.
Beyoncé just shared her very own "Classy, Bougie, Ratchet" playlist on TIDAL in celebration of her and Megan Thee Stallion's "Savage" remix. Although Bey's kept pretty quiet about the release of the "Savage" remix since it dropped last Wednesday (April 29th), the Queen came through with a collection of her favourite tunes that fit the theme of the multifaceted bad b*tch anthem. Naming the playlist, which was shared exclusively on TIDAL, after a lyric on the "Savage" chorus, Bey racked up 39 tracks total, curating a mix of hip-hop and R&B favourites past and present.
Kevin Winter/Getty Images for Coachella
Naturally, Bey kicked things off with "Savage" remix, followed by a myriad of hits from tons of beloved female rappers like Lil’ Kim, Trina, Kash Doll, City Girls, Lil’ Keke, and Missy Elliott. However, she also made sure to rep her and Meg's Southern roots by including Texas natives like Travis Scott, Slim Thug, Bun B, Paul Wall, Maxo Kream, and, of course, her sister, Solange. Bey also plugs her bestie and former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland's new single, "Coffee," as well.
Additional artists who made the cut on the prestigious playlist include legends like Aretha Franklin, Janet Jackson, and Sade, as well as promising newcomers like Don Toliver, Omb Bloodbath, Cookiee Kawaii, and Tobe Nwigwe. Check out the full batch of "Classy, Bougie, Ratchet" selections below:
HNHH TIDAL Wave: Drake, Chris Brown, Young Thug, & Doja Cat
This week's TIDAL Wave playlist update features Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Lil Baby, Chris Brown, Young Thug, Jackboy, JoJo, and more.
This is a loaded week for the TIDAL Wave playlist. Each week, our staff mulls over the hottest tracks to have released within the last month and, damn, we had a good time these last seven days.
A ton of high-profile records saw the light of day, including an entire Drake mixtape (!!!) called the Dark Lane Demo Tapes. A handful of selections from that were chosen for this week's update, in addition to some brand new female rap match-ups. Megan Thee Stallion is vying to go #1 with her Beyoncé-assisted "Savage" remix but Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj are also trying to hit that point with the official "Say So" remix. Both of those have been highlighted on TIDAL Wave.
We've also got new music from Lil Baby, Smoove'L, Jackboy, O.T. Genasis, and more. On the R&B side of things, we're keeping you chill with songs from JoJo, Kehlani, Mahalia, Leven Kali, and, you guessed it, Drake.
Of course, we've also got one joint from that new Chris Brown and Young Thug mixtape Slime & B, of which we expect even more to be added next week. Stay tuned!
If you're not signed up to TIDAL yet, try it out for 60 days FREE here. While you're here, let us know who has your favorite picks this week.
