According to his son, Coulombe was battling with a long illness. He was 89.
Coulombe opened the first Trader Joe’s in Pasadena in 1967. The chain now boasts 500 stores spanning 40 states, where an emphasis on affordable healthy foods is placed.
“He wanted to make sure whatever was sold in our store was of good value,” Coulombe’s son, also named Joe, told the Associated Press. “He always did lots of taste tests. My sisters and I remember him bringing home all kinds of things for us to try. At his offices he had practically daily tastings of new products. Always the aim was to provide good food and good value to people.”
Coulombe sold the company to German grocery retailer Aldi in 1979, but he remained on as its CEO until 1988. He later retired in 2013.
He was born on June 3, 1930, in San Diego. He later joined the Air Force, and attended Stanford University, earning a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s in business administration. He met his wife, Alice, in college.
Coulombe is survived by Alice, whom he’s been married to for 67 years, their three children and six grandchildren.
Amanda Bynes Believes Paparazzi Are Photoshopping Her Shots
Amanda Bynes shared a message on paparazzi and self worth, where she called out the tabloids for supposedly altering images of her to make her appear larger.
Amanda Bynes has spoken out on the relationship between paparazzi and self worth, stressing how dangerous it is for the media to release altered photos of her where she appears to look heavier. Amanda has been fairly active on social media ever since she announced her engagement to her boyfriend, Paul Michael, a few weeks ago. The former actress, who has had a pretty tumultuous time in the spotlight over the years dealing with substance abuse, mental health issues, and run-ins with the law, took to Instagram on Thursday to talk about the “terrifying experience” of looking herself up online only to find that all of the shots of her have allegedly been photoshopped to make her face look different.
“Hey y’all. I wanted to post a video today to talk about paparazzi and self worth,” Amanda told her followers. “Whenever I see a paparazzi photo, the majority of the time, I look nothing like myself. I’m talking, 16 chins, face looks completely different, and it’s an all-around terrifying experience to look myself up online, quite honestly. Like I’m about to cry just thinking about it.”

However, she had a wider objective than just calling out the paparazzi. “I wanted to post this video so people know that I’m just like you,” she notes. “I want to look my best. Of course, I can take an unflattering shot, but the amount of unflattering shots that I see online—I know that my shots are being photoshopped. I just, I don’t look like that in the photos that I take or when I look at myself in the mirror. So, that’s all I wanted to say. I hope you guys are having a sick day. I love you, and I’ll talk to you guys soon.” Whether or not the paparazzi or publications are indeed photoshopping images of her, she clearly sees a discrepancy between her own self-perception and the public’s perception of her. Along with her shocking engagement, Amanda has been making headlines in recent months for her questionable face tattoos, which may have been a result of her skewered self-image.

An American citizen who was quarantined due to the coronavirus coughed on his daughter during a Fox News interview.
A Pennsylvania native who was recently quarantined and detained at a military base after returning from China was interviewed on Fox News, but couldn't help himself from coughing on his toddler daughter. The man by the name of Frank Wucinski, and his three-year-old daughter, Annabelle, appeared on Fox News' America's Newsroom on Friday morning (Feb. 28), to discuss he and his family's experience of being quarantined at Miramar Marine Corps. base in San Diego, CA.

According to Fox News, Wucinski and his wife, who is a Chinese citizen, have been living in China for fifteen years and recently relocated to Wuhan, the epicenter of the novel coronavirus, in order to take care of his father-in-law after his wife's mother had passed away. Unfortunately, his father-in-law perished to COVID-19, the official name of the coronavirus, which prompted Wucinski and his family to make their way back to the United States.
During his brief appearance on America's Newsroom, Wucinski appeared to be in good spirits detailing his experience during the quarantine process, in the midst of trying to hold back a cough, the former detainee stated:
"Fortunately from what I understand. It is contagious but the death rate is pretty low."
Wucinski proceeded to cough then drink from the same water bottle his daughter was attempting to raise to her own lips. He continued, saying:
"Yeah, I'm fine. I got tested twice. Um, negative both times. The cough, probably just nerves."
In recent weeks, outbreaks in countries like Iran and Italy have sent the world into a panic and now, with several unconfirmed cases in San Francisco have many wondering if the spread of the virus can potentially cause massive outbreaks throughout the United States. While a US citizen has passed away from the virus, more common diseases like influenza are far more deadly than the novel coronavirus according to the CDC.

Mariah Carey Comes For The Grammys Neck With Shady Tweet
Mariah Carey isn't a fan of the Recording Academy.
Mariah Carey took some time to throw some subtle shade at The Grammys and the Recording Academy in a recent Tweet. Earlier this week, Mariah Carey posted a video of her daughter attempting to jokingly perform the #highnotechallenge which revealed that is none other than the "A No No" singer behind her daughter's impressive performance. With the clip going viral, one Tweeter responded to the video writing, "Mariah Carey is always dressed like she’s accepting a Grammy and I love it,” which prompted Carey to get in Twitter fingers mode and take shots at music industry gatekeepers.
Mariah Carey took her Twitter account to respond to the popular response Quote Tweeting it with a shrewd response, writing: "If only they felt the same way lol." As of today, Mariah Carey is a five-time Grammy Award winner and 33-time Grammy nominee. 2006 was her most successful year as a Grammy-nominated artist, as she nominated for a total of eight Grammy's including Album of the Year for The Emancipation of Mimi (2005) and Song of The Year and Record of The Year for "We Belong Together." That year she won honors for Best R&B Song, Best Female R&B Vocal Performance, and Best Contemporary R&B Album of The Year.
This isn't the first time that Mariah Carey has thrown shade at the Recording Academy. In a 2018 interview with V Magazine, Mariah Carey discussed her disdain for the Grammys stating:
"In the music business, if you care about the Grammys and submitting your stuff before a certain time frame, you want a single out in the summer, and then you want to have your record [out] before the Grammys (consideration) deadline, which has changed. Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn."
She then went to claim that the Recording Academy didn't want to be biassed towards popular artists during the beginning stages of her career as she continued:
"I mean, I have five Grammys. That’s cute. There (are) people that have been doing this half the time that have twice as many (Grammys). I won two Grammys the first year I started, but after that, (the Grammys) are like, ‘We don’t go with the people that are selling a lot of records and are popular; we’re gonna go the opposite way.’ So I got screwed out of certain years. I wasn’t bitter about it. I was just like, okay, well, I guess I’m not standing here barefoot onstage singing and trying to go a certain way. I’m just me."
While Mariah Carey might not be receiving as many accolades from the Grammys as she would like there are still many committees and boards that are singing her praises. The 49-year-old legendary songstress is one of this year's Songwriter Hall of Fame inductees, she's the first modern-day artist to have four number-one singles across four decades, she's been immortalized with one of the most popular holiday songs of all-time, and currently has one of better Las Vegas residency shows on The Strip.

Tyler Perry’s Nephew’s Second Autopsy Points To Suicide: Report
Tyler Perry ordered a second autopsy to be performed on his nephew by a renowned pathologist.
On Wednesday, it was reported that Tyler Perry’s 26-year-old nephew, Gavin Porter, was found dead in his cell in a Louisiana prison. Porter was serving a 20-year sentence for having murdered his father in 2016 in front of his mother, Melva Porter, who is Tyler Perry’s sister. Prison officials informed the family that Ported had committed suicide by hanging himself with his bed sheets. Tyler Perry wished to validate the truth of these claims by ordering another autopsy to be conducted on his nephew by a pathologist he selected himself. “I want to be clear that we are not a family of conspiracy theorists and want to believe that there was no foul play just as the sheriff said publicly,” the famous filmmaker told TMZ.
He hired well-known pathologist, Dr. Michael Baden, who was involved in investigating the cases of John F. Kennedy, O.J. Simpson and Jeffrey Epstein. TMZ has now reported the results of this second autopsy and they point to Porter’s death being a suicide. Baden is supposedly 98% sure that there was no foul play involved in the inmate’s death. “The answers don’t take away grief, but it surely gives room for grieving to take its course,” Tyler said in regards to these findings.

Earlier this week, Tyler also expressed that he had faith in the possibility of Porter’s redemption had his life not been cut short. “Call me naive, but it was my hope that after serving his time, and really reflecting and showing much remorse and asking God for forgiveness, that he would have been able to come to work for me, joining all the other former inmates who work for me and turn his life around just as they have. But that day will never come.”
Bobby Lytes Is Thirsting Over Lil Nas X Again
Bobby Lytes really liked what he saw in Lil Nas X’s new Calvin Klein campaign.
Bobby Lytes has been going all out trying to win over Lil Nas X’s love and attention for months now. It all started back in June when the “Old Town Road” artist revealed to the world that he was gay, news which Bobby hoped would be a game-changer for him. Just a day later, the reality TV star posted a photo of LNX and quoted his hit in a suggestive manner. “Somebody tell Lil Nas X I’m tryna riiiiidee till I can’t no more!,” Bobby wrote in the caption. For people who thought Bobby was already doing too much with this move, his interaction with LNX at the VMAs had them even more baffled. Bobby rocked assless chaps to the show and when he was spotted talking to his crush, the interest did not appear to be reciprocal. Bobby was dragged on Twitter for failing in his mission, despite his over-the-top outfit.
You can continue to clown Bobby if you wish, but he deserves to be praised for his perseverance. He is once again publicly shooting his shot at Lil Nas X. This time, his thirst was ignited by LNX’s new Calvin Klein campaign. As we all know, these campaigns tend to be quite steamy, as they often require celebrities to pose in underwear. Even though Nas only wore pyjama pants in his shoot, Bobby still found something to get excited over. “Damn Zaddy! ? is that a gun? Or you just happy to see me?! ??,” he captioned one of Nas’ CK ads. No response from Nas yet, but Bobby is standing by his lusting. The Shade Room reposted his public plea, pointing out how he’s not letting up, and he commented: “I’m not. So everyone can fall TF back!!”
Rob Kardashian’s Request To Get Primary Custody Of Daughter Dream Is Denied
Rob Kardashian’s attempt to get primary custody of his & Blac Chyna’s daughter has been denied.
According to multiple reports, a family judge has denied Rob Kardashian’s request for primary custody of his and Blac Chyna’s 3-year-old daughter Dream Kardashian.
The documents say Chyna was “shocked to learn” about Kardashian’s request for an emergency order that would “permanently change the Custody Order for Dream so that Chyna would only be permitted to see her daughter from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday with a ‘monitor’ present, rather than the 5 days a week she now sees and cares for precious Dream.” The documents go on to allege that, even though Kardashian’s motion was denied, Chyna was “forced to expend time and resources to oppose Rob’s baseless motion.”
The docs that Kardashian originally filed seeking primary custody also included a request for Chyna to submit to drug and alcohol testing no less than 30 minutes before each visit with their daughter. Chyna’s attorney, Lynne Ciani, told ET at the time that the allegations made against her client were “absolutely absurd.”
In a statement, Chyna’s lawyer said, “Chyna will not back down from Rob and his family’s attempt to take away her agreed-upon custody of Dream. She will continue to take all necessary steps to protect her children, including defeating Rob’s and his family’s latest attempt to undermine Chyna’s joy as a mother to Dream and her ability to make a living as a single mother – without any child support from Rob.”
While Kardashian’s emergency motion was denied, he still has the ability to argue for a change to the custody arrangement in the future.
Normani Breaks Silence On Camilla Cabello’s Racist Past
Normani has finally addressed her former Fifth Harmony group member Camila Cabello’s racist social media posts that recently resurfaced.
Normani has spoken out about her former fellow Fifth Harmony group member Camila Cabello’s racist Tumblr posts and tweets that resurfaced online, as well as the bullying she endured from Fifth Harmony fans. Before she was a solo artist and on her way to becoming the next pop It-girl, Normani was one of five members of the X Factor-born girl group, Fifth Harmony. Among her fellow Harmony ladies was Camila Cabello, who left the group in December 2016 just over a year before the remaining four members decided to disband the group for good. Now, Normani and Camila are arguably the two most well-known former 5H stars in the music industry, but that doesn’t mean that all is well between them.

Normani recently graced the cover of Rolling Stone’s “Women Shaping The Future” issue alongside SZA and Megan Thee Stallion. In the pop star’s cover story, she was asked about the racist attacks she endured from Fifth Harmony fans back when the group was still together, as well as Camila’s own well-known racist past that was brought to light recently.
“I struggled with talking about this because I didn’t want it to be a part of my narrative, but I am a black woman, who is a part of an entire generation that has a similar story,” Normani told Rolling Stone. “I face senseless attacks daily, as does the rest of my community.” At the time of the bullying, Camila made slight attempts to defend her bandmate, but none of 5H, as Normani puts it, “[knew] how to be there for me the way that I needed it because it wasn’t their own experience.” When Camila later came under fire after old Tumblr posts and tweets of hers, in which she used racist and derogatory language including the N-word, resurfaced late last year, it reaffirmed everything for Normani.

“It would be dishonest if I said that this particular scenario didn’t hurt me,” Normani said. “It was devastating that this came from a place that was supposed to be a safe haven and a sisterhood, because I knew that if the tables were turned I would defend each of them in a single heartbeat. It took days for her to acknowledge what I was dealing with online and then years for her to take responsibility for the offensive tweets that recently resurfaced. Whether or not it was her intention, this made me feel like I was second to the relationship that she had with her fans.” Camila eventually apologized for the “horrible and hurtful language” she used when she was younger, stating that she “would never intentionally hurt anyone” and “regret[s] it from the bottom of my heart.”

“I really hope that an important lesson was learned in this,” Normani said. “I hope there is genuine understanding about why this was absolutely unacceptable. I have spoken what is in my heart and pray this is transparent enough that I never have to speak on it again.”
Driver In Fatal Tesla Crash Was Playing Video Games
Two years ago, a 2017 Tesla Model X sped directly into a concrete barrier on a Silicon Valley freeway and now, earlier this week, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has determined that the man behind the wheel of the vehicle was playing video games at the time of the accident. While Elon Musk has been installing speech features into his later models and hiring employees without degree requirements, his semi-autonomous vehicles have become somewhat of a danger to society due to people’s reliance on the vehicle’s self-piloting feature.
Spencer Platt/Getty Images
According to NBC Bay Area, Walter Huang was commuting to his engineering gig at Apple on March 23, 2018, when he activated the ‘autopilot’ feature on his 2017 Tesla Model X. After investigating the accident thoroughly, the National Transportation Safety Board gathered the cell phone records and data received from Huang’s phone which revealed that a gaming app was in use during the time of the crash on Highway 101.
Robert Sumwalt revealed to The Verge the NTSB’s findings, stating:
“The Tesla car log data showed that there was no driver-applying steering wheel torque, indicating the hands were likely off the steering wheel during this time period.” He continued, “In this crash, we saw an over-reliance on technology, we saw distraction, we saw a lack of policy prohibiting cell phone use while driving, and we saw infrastructure failures, which, when combined, led to this tragic loss.”
NTSB’s report also revealed that the Model X’s forward-collision warning system failed to warn Huang of an upcoming barrier. Sumwalt also blames Sumwalt California’s transportation department after discovering that the barrier was damaged in an accident 11 days prior to the incident involving Huang.
Sumwalt then took aim at Tesla stating:
“We urge Tesla to continue to work on improving their Autopilot technology and for NHTSA to fulfill its oversight responsibility to ensure that corrective action is taken where necessary. It’s time to stop enabling drivers in any partially automated vehicle to pretend that they have driverless cars.”
The NTSB chairman then went on to reveal that the Board had urged Tesla to look further into their vehicle automation systems earlier, saying:
“We ask that recommendation recipients respond to us within 90 days. That’s all we ask. But it’s been 881 days since these recommendations were sent to Tesla and we’ve heard nothing. We’re still waiting.”
While Walter Huang is at fault for treating his Tesla like a self-driving car, the National Transportation Safety Board believes that if Tesla doesn’t adjust their autopilot features in the future, we’ll see the death toll rapidly rise from autonomous vehicle incidents. Check out KPIX CBS SF Bay Area report of the cause of the Tesla crash in the video provided below.
