The Weeknd revealed his surprising friendship with Jim Carrey on Wednesday when he thanked the comedian on social media for painting a portrait of him as a 30th birthday gift. The Weeknd recently celebrated his 30th birthday on February 16th, a few days after announcing his upcoming album, After Hours. While hitting the big 3-0 might be scary for some folks, it becomes a little easier to handle if you’re lucky enough to receive some thoughtful gifts.
The Weeknd clearly knows how that feels, as he shared a photo of one such gift from Jim Carrey on Twitter. On Wednesday, the singer showed off the beautiful portrait that Jim painted of him, complete with the number “30” outlined overtop of The Weeknd’s red-shaded face. In the caption, he wrote, “thank you @JimCarrey ! Perfect birthday gift.” Jim has become known for his artistic gifts, in particular his paintings of political figures like Donald Trump. Jim is definitely not a Trump supporter, and he uses his canvas to troll the POTUS by portraying him in a negative light.

Besides hitting this major milestone, The Weeknd is also basking in his new musical era. He dropped the title single from After Hours last week, announcing that the album itself will be released on March 20th. To support the highly anticipated project, he’ll be hitting the road for an extensive tour, beginning on June 11th in Vancouver. 2020 has definitely been his year so far.
Vanessa Bryant Remembers "Best Friend" Kobe With Lighthearted Interview Clip
Kobe Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, shared two Instagram posts in tribute of the late basketball legend.
While the world has been mourning the loss of Kobe Bryant, his widow, Vanessa, has remained the focus of everyone’s thoughts and prayers. Since the unfathomable tragedy that took her husband and 13-year-old daughter Gianna, Vanessa has periodically posted on Instagram to express her deep love for them. The posts have been heartbreaking, but Vanessa has been stunning us all with her resilient dedication to remaining in high spirits.
On Wednesday (Feb. 5), she shared two tributes to Kobe. The first one was a smiling portrait of him, which Vanessa captioned with terms of endearment: “#mybestfriend #theBestdaddy Miss you so much. #handsome #sweet #funny #silly #lovinghusband ❤️Miss you saying, “Bonjourno principessa/reina.”
She then remembered him by posting a clip of a lighthearted interview that Kobe did with ExtraTV. He answers tril questions about his pet peeves, childhood fears and and favorite junk food. He briefly speaks about his children, who he says just call him “daddy” rather than any other nickname. The video ends with him being asked to name his best friend, who he deems his wife without hesitation. Vanessa simply captioned this clip with a heart emoji.
Before these posts, the previous one that Vanessa shared was a fan-drawn picture of Gianna, which she said “warmed [her] heart.”
Clever’s New Tattoo Of Juice WRLD’s Face Is Damn-Near Perfect
Alabama rapper Clever inks an homage to his collaborator Juice WRLD on his arm.
Many people only know of Alabama rapper Clever because of Juice WRLD. On Death Race to Love, the lesser-known artist features on “Ring Ring,” a standout from the entire album. If you’ve dug deeper into Clever’s discography, you’ll realize that the man has been hustling for a minute. Shotty label deals and some time in prison limited him from making a major impact in the rap game but now, he’s coming through strong with some high-profile spots. This year, we’re expecting him to pop up on records with Justin Bieber and Post Malone, continuing his rise to the top and opening eyes to his already-strong brand. Because of his connection to Juice WRLD, Clever was shaken up when he heard that his friend had passed away last month and, this week, he decided to pay homage to the Chicago star in the form of a brand new tattoo.

When we spoke to Clever on the phone last year, the budding star told us that he was in the midst of getting a brand new face tattoo, covering up some existing ink with an umbrella. Clever added to his growing collection of body art, opting to get a portrait of Juice WRLD on his arm and the end result is damn-near perfect. Showing off the ink as part of a photo gallery on Instagram, the rapper’s new piece is incredibly well-done, featuring some seriously impressive shading and linework.

Kanye West Portrait Created From Repeatedly Writing His Name
An Australian artist created a portrait of Kanye West by just writing his name over and over again.
Kanye West‘s fan base became far more divided than its ever been over the past few years. The rapper’s affiliation with Trump, some of the things he’s said, and the general direction of his music have played a factor in the polarizing reception to his art and place in hip-hop. However, there’s no denying his influence nor the inspiration he provides those who still look up to him.
Over the weekend, an Australian artist who goes by @alx.n.ria shared a crazy portrait of Kanye West that she created solely out of writing Kanye West’s name over and over again on a piece of paper. The artist shared the process behind the creative piece (sped up, obviously) on Instagram with Ye’s “Follow God” playing over it. “WORD • KANYE WEST #kanyewest ~ Kanye is a legend ??,” the artist captioned the post.
The post has since gone viral on Twitter and Instagram. Following the reception she received, she hit Instagram announcing that she’s taking pre-orders for limited prints.
It’s unclear if Kanye West has seen it yet but people have been tagging Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner in the comment sections. Additionally, Def Jam also shared the post on their Instagram page.
@alx.n.ria has done similar portraits of Tyler, The Creator, Ariana Grande, Wiz Khalifa, Miley Cyrus, A$AP Rocky, Lil Yachty, and many others.
