Kobe Bryant's legacy extended well past just the basketball court. Of course, Bryant had numerous philanthropic efforts and had even begun proving himself as a storyteller in both film and literature. Unfortunately, Bryant was taken from us way too soon. However, his legacy still lives on and now, he is about to receive a pretty massive posthumous award.
According to Carly Mallenbaum of USA Today, Bryant will receive the Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors award. He was nominated for the award by Spectrum SportsNet and thanks to his numerous efforts off the court, he was able to win. Recently, the Lakers took to Twitter where the congratulated Kobe for this big milestone.
Per USA TODAY:
"The award is meant to celebrate an individual or company’s outstanding contribution to Los Angeles, and visionary achievement in art, sciences or television. Bryant, who was nominated for the posthumous honor by Spectrum SportsNet, is receiving the award for both his storied athletic career and philanthropic work."
Bryant's legacy continues to grow and we're sure this award is only the beginning of what is to come over the next few years. Many have been inspired by Bryant's career and over the next few years, we will certainly see his efforts manifest into something huge.

Juice WRLD’s Girlfriend Previews Posthumous Single
Juice WRLD’s girlfriend, Ally Lotti, shared a snippet from a song he was working on before his death.
Chicago rapper Juice WRLD passed away at the young age of twenty-one last year, breaking the hearts of so many hip-hop fans excited about his progress. During his short career, the superstar had impressed so many people with his freestyling skills, his melodic magic, and his electric performances. The late artist’s record label has already confirmed that they will be releasing a posthumous body of work by him, and the first single has possibly just been previewed by Ally Lotti.
Juice WRLD and Ally Lotti had been dating for several months before the rapper suffered a fatal seizure because of a drug overdose in December 2019. She played a major part in his happiness, posting lovely photos of themselves on a regular basis. During a recent live-stream, Lotti teased the release of his first-ever posthumous record, which appears to be about her.
“Put your left hand in my right/I’m your best friend, you’re my wife,” rhymes Juice WRLD on the song before describing the tattoos on her chest. Hearing his voice is bittersweet, but it’s clear that the fans are hungry for new music from the late star. Comments from the live-stream were begging Ally to drop the song. Surely, when it’s mixed and mastered it will be out.
Listen below and let us know if you’re feeling it.
Is Frank Ocean On Juice WRLD’s Posthumous Album?
Lil Bibby puts out a public call for Frank Ocean to appear on Juice WRLD's first posthumous album, but will the reclusive star answer?
News struck this week that Frank Ocean is planning on releasing a brand new single to the world, cancelling pre-orders for the "Little Demon" vinyl and replacing it with an unreleased track. Perhaps the reclusive star is also working on contributing to the first posthumous album released by Juice WRLD. Or, at least that's what Lil Bibby is hoping for.
The head of Juice WRLD's label Grade A Productions, Lil Bibby, just sent out a public call for Frank Ocean to sing on the upcoming posthumous album by late 21-year-old Juice WRLD. The Chicago star passed away in December 2019 of a drug overdose and, since then, his team has announced that unreleased music will eventually find its way onto streaming services. While there remains no release date for Juice WRLD's first posthumous project, Bibby is not making it a secret that he wants the sweet, soothing tones of Frank Ocean's voice on there.
"Gotta get Frank Ocean on this Juice album," said the rapper-turned-executive on social media.
Lil Bibby worked extremely closely with Juice WRLD during his life and he likely knows who the star would have enjoyed collaborating with. Perhaps Frank graces that list.
In Juice WRLD's first musical appearance since his death, he featured on Eminem's "Godzilla," which saw the Chicago rapper end up in the Guinness Book of World Records. Are you hoping Frank Ocean comes through with a feature on the upcoming body of work?

Travis Scott Listens To Unreleased Pop Smoke
Travis Scott collaborated with Pop Smoke on "GATTI" and it's looking like they had a few more songs in the stash.
The disturbing news of Pop Smoke's murder has been a tough pill to swallow for hip-hop as a whole, but more specifically for the Brooklyn drill scene. The rising star was one of the characters leading the recent surge and, while he did not create the wave, he popularized it to a whole new audience. Bringing his guttural rhymes to the forefront, Poppy was an anomaly in the game. The visceral nature of his voice, which was extraordinarily deep, connected almost instantly with fans and when he hopped on the long-awaited Cactus Jack compilation tape JACKBOYS, his brand was exposed to a wide range of mainstream music fans. Travis Scott must have spent a decent amount of time in the studio with the star because, after it was announced that the 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper had been killed, he posted a video of himself listening to an unreleased collaboration from the two.

La Flame's distant hums can be heard at the top of the snippet that he played on his Instagram story before the late Pop Smoke jumps on for a verse referencing Christian Dior, Percocet, and a few more of his favorite topics. The song has not been released and, as of now, there have been no announcements that point to it dropping anytime soon.
Pop Smoke was 20-year-old when he passed away. Listen to the song preview below. Rest in peace, Pop.
Juice WRLD’s Family Reveals Posthumous Music Plans In New Statement
Juice WRLD's unreleased songs and projects will see the light of day.
The first posthumous feature from Juice WRLD was rightfully allotted to Eminem, the late Chicago rapper's idol, on his brand new album Music To Be Murdered By. Even better -- it was revealed this week that the song in question, "Godzilla," earned a new world record for Eminem, placing Juice WRLD in the Guinness books as well. While his contributions to the song didn't net him the "fastest rapper ever" title, it's still bittersweet for such an accomplishment to even be attached to the late star. After his cause of death was revealed yesterday, marking an accidental drug overdose from codeine and oxycodone, Juice WRLD's family has issued a statement where they detail the plans for his future posthumous releases, as well as a tribute planned in his hometown.

"From the bottom of our hearts we want to thank each and every one of you for your undivided adoration and love for Juice," wrote the rapper's family and his team at Grade A. "You guys meant the entire world to Juice and by listening to his music, watching his videos and sharing your stories about him, you are keeping his memory alive forever. We plan to honor Juice's talents, his spirit, and the love he felt for his fans by sharing unreleased music and other projects that he was passionately in the process of developing. There will be a public tribute in Chicago, details will be shared soon."
A number of Juice WRLD's unreleased songs leaked onto the internet this weekend. The man was known for his incredible work ethic in the studio, often freestyling handfuls of songs on a nightly basis. He certainly has a vast catalog stashed away in the vault for his closest collaborators and family to sift through and determine what would fit his vision best for any posthumous work.
Rest in power, Juice WRLD.
Lil Xan Reveals Mac Miller’s Final DMs To Him Amid Posthumous Album News
Xan remembers his late friend.
The news of Mac Miller‘s death in September of 2018 was devastating for so many people around the world. While his friends and family were, of course, deeply affected by his passing, fans of Mac, of hip hop, and of music in general were also shocked and upset to hear he was gone. Many fellow artists in the industry, and those who just looked up to him, have shared their fond memories of crossing paths with Mac, and so many have had nothing but good things to say about the man. One such artist was Lil Xan, who has been very candid about Mac’s impact on him as an artist and how hard his death hit him. He even got a face tattoo in honour of Mac and commissioned a painting of the late rapper to remember him by. Following the news that Mac’s family will be releasing a completed, posthumous version of Mac’s album, Circles, which he was working on before his tragic death, Xan revealed he knew the name of the album for “dam near a year but wouldn’t say out of respect for everyone.”
He continued, “the fact this is dropping this month makes me wanna cry,This has made my whole fucking year and I wanna cry rn call me a bitch idc because it’s MOST DOPE FOREVER ! 412 BABYYYYY ! @macmiller @idlabsmusic ? Since 2009?.” Xan also posted a screenshot of him and Mac’s final DMs to each other.
The photo, which Xan captioned “Miss you every day malcolm ?” on Instagram, reveals the last words Xan and Mac exchanged before his untimely death on September 7th, 2018. On August 2nd, just over a month before Mac’s final moments, Xan had messaged him saying, “Bro so excited!” likely referring to his anticipation for the release of Mac’s album, Swimming, which dropped the following day on August 3rd. Mac replied with three swimming emojis (“?♂️?♂️?♂️”) followed by, “My guy,” confirming the meaning of the message. Xan messaged him again on October 3rd, less than a month after Mac had passed, writing, “Miss you man ❤️.”
These were not Mac’s very final words to him, though. Xan has revealed that Mac’s final words to him were, “Be safe,” which became the name of Xan’s tribute album to Mac that he’s been working on for over a year now. A big reason that Mac’s passing had such a massive effect on Xan was their similar struggles with substance abuse. Mac’s tragic passing was the result of a drug overdose, and Xan has opened up about how losing so many of his friends (XXXTentacion and Lil Peep along with Mac) to drug-related deaths got him seriously considering getting sober. Circles will drop January 17th, 2020.
