Just two days after President Trump declares the novel coronavirus a national emergency, California governor, Gavin Newsom has announced that all bars will be closed and restaurant capacities will be severely reduced in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. During an official press conference concerning the rapid spread of the potentially life-threatening disease this Sunday (March 15), Newsom revealed that all bars, night clubs, wineries, and brewpubs are non-essential locations that do not serve a requirement to be open at the moment. According to the governor, restaurants serve a more 'nuanced' purpose but will require businesses to perform social distancing for the safety of the state's citizens by slashing occupancy levels in half.

Governor Newsom also urges that all citizens 65 and older and patrons with chronic health issues attempt to remain indoors. During the impromptu press conference, Newsom revealed that 335 people have tested positive for the coronavirus which is a 14% increase from yesterday's total confirmed cases. There has been a total of six verified deaths due to COVID-19 within the state's borders.
A temporary travel ban to overseas countries has been put in place to attempt to stop the spread of the virus has been put in place by President Trump as well while nationwide government officials are doing everything in their power to prepare the masses for a possible indefinite quarantine period. With patrons stockpiling supplies and travelers stuck in airports for hours, people are preparing for the worse despite the coronavirus' ability to be terminated after contraction.
As long as the masses remain cleanly, practice social distancing, and continue to stay informed all should be well in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Check out California governor, Gavin Newsom's full press conference detailing the closing of bars and new restaurant restrictions in the video provided below.
A Doctor In Madrid Is Live Tweeting His Coronavirus Battle
An emergency physician in Madrid has been giving daily updates of his experiences in quarantine after contracting coronavirus while treating infected patients.
An emergency physician at a hospital in Madrid has been documenting his experience with battling coronavirus on Twitter, after he contracted the virus while he was treating infected patients and had to go into isolation. Dr. Yale Tung Chen has been quarantined in his home since last Sunday and is currently on day 7 of his journey. The 35-year-old doctor, who first contracted the virus at Hospital Universitario La Paz where he works, has been posting clips of his daily ultrasounds and describing his symptoms, which have thus far included sore throat, headaches, dry cough, exhaustion, and diarrhea. In his ultrasound, a developing effusion can be seen, which has been known to lead to pneumonia in some patients. While he reports that he's feeling worse than before, he seems to be managing the illness well. His goal is to illustrate how patients exhibiting mild symptoms may not know they even have coronavirus.

Donovan Mitchell Gives Coronavirus Update: Says "I Feel Fine”
Donovan Mitchel says he's doing just "fine" while having the coronavirus.
It appears Donovan Mitchell is doing just dine while being quarainted for having coronavirus. The Utah Jazz All-Star guard decided to release a video Saturday afternoon giving us an update, citing he’s doing just fine and playing a lot of video games at the moment.
"Just want to say thank you guys so much for your continued support. It means a lot to me," the 23-year-old Mitchell said. "I feel fine. Things are going well. Just taking the proper precautions as told to me by the authorities. I was told to stay in isolation, so, solo in here, playing videogames all day. Can't wait to get back out there and play in front of the best fans in the world. Really miss playing in front of you guys and I'll see you guys soon." Check out the clip for yourself (below).
Mitchell became the second NBA player to receive a positive coronavirus test result after teammate Rudy Gobert was the first, which caused the NBA season to be suspended. Thankfully, Donovan was the only Jazz player or staff member among the 58 people who were tested after Gobert's diagnosis to receive a positive test. We wish him and Gobert a speedy and healthy recovery while they are quarantined.
Tom Hanks Provides Coronavirus Update
Tom Hanks shared an update on he and his wife, Rita Wilson, after they tested positive for coronavirus during their visit to Australia and went into isolation.
Tom Hanks and his wife, Rita Wilson, are doing just fine in Australian quarantine due to their coronavirus contraction, according to the actor’s latest update social media. The world was shaken when Tom announced on Wednesday that he and Rita had tested positive for COVID-19 aka coronavirus during their trip to Australia, where Tom was busy filming the upcoming Baz Luhrmann-directed Elvis Presley biopic.

While it’s unclear at the moment whether Tom will still be taking on the role of Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker, in the film, the actor and his actress wife are focused solely on their recovery and ensuring that they don’t spread the virus to others. Of course, the couple are in isolation at the moment, but they made sure to thank everyone for their support and reassure us that everything will be okay, complete with one of Tom’s most famous film quotes.
“Hello folks,” he wrote on a selfie of both of them donning baseball caps. “@ritawilson and I want to thank everyone here Down Under who are taking such good care of us. We have Covid-19 and are in isolation so we do not spread it to anyone else. There are those for whom it could lead to a very serious illness. We are taking it one-day-at-a-time. There are things we can all do to get through this by following the advice of experts and taking care of ourselves and each other, no? Remember, despite all the current events, there is no crying in baseball. Hanx.” The reference to A League Of Their Own is just too wholesome, and as usual, Mr. Hanks continues to be a force of positivity. Keep these wise words in mind!
Cristiano Ronaldo Faces Quarantine After Teammate Gets Coronavirus
Daniele Rugani of Juventus was recently diagnosed with the Coronavirus.
Coronavirus concerns have grown exponentially over the last couple of weeks and now, it seems to be a dire situation. Last night was particularly rough as it was revealed that Rudy Gobert of the Utah Jazz in the NBA had the virus. He then passed the virus on to teammate Donovan Mitchell. Now, the league has been completely shut down until further notice. The virus has also been passed along to other sports. Recently, it was reported that Daniele Rugani of Juventus tested positive for the virus.
In the aftermath of this diagnosis, soccer megastar Cristiano Ronaldo has been forced into quarantine. This means he won’t be able to interact with any of his teammates, for the time being. The Serie A is currently on a hiatus so he won’t be missing any league action moving forward.
In the NBA, numerous teams will be undergoing quarantine measures as some squads interacted with Gobert. This has created some hysteria although the league is hoping its players will test negative and will be feeling better in two weeks. Needless to say, it’s a scary time for sports leagues around the world.
Stay tuned for updates on this situation as we will be sure to bring you the latest.
France Reminds Citizens Cocaine Is Not A Coronavirus Cure
The French government stepped in to stop a rumor that cocaine cures the coronavirus.
French government officials had to remind its citizens that cocaine is not a preventative measure for the novel coronavirus. With France's neighboring country recently taking major precautions, quarantining approximately 16 million of their citizens, the spread of the life-threatening COVID-19 disease into their borders have become a growing concern for their citizens and official health advisors as well. The original rumor that cocaine was a cure for the coronavirus began as a part of ill-advised information leak on the highly-popularized social media platform Facebook, which has had a history of containing false information in the past. Spencer Platt/Getty Images
According to Politifact, the Facebook post popped up on the internet on Jan. 30 and featured a photo of the highly-addictive narcotic and a grammatically butchered banner headline that read "Cocaine kills coronavirus" and "Scientists is shocked to discover that this drug can fight the virus." As per usual, the false information eventually made its way to different social media platforms and has influenced some French citizens that cocaine could actually be used to prevent from contracting COVID-19.
Despite the post being flagged for spreading dangerously false information that could potentially affect the health of millions of people, the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Paris, France had to make a statement to ensure the safety of the country's citizens. A Ministry official took to Twitter to announce in a short, concise statement that translates to:
"No, cocaine does NOT protect against COVID-19. It is an addictive drug that causes serious side effects and is harmful to people's health."
With major corporations and public event producers taking precautions against the coronavirus, we could have to watch our sporting events from the comfort of our homes in empty stadiums and postpone major events like Coachella until the disease is officially contained. With American government officials even in self-quarantine situations, it is extremely reckless and dangerous for misinformation to be spread about COVID-19. Especially in regards to harmful drug use which could lead to further health complications in these already troubling times.
Ted Cruz Quarantined After Hand Shake With Coronavirus Victim
Ted Cruz is quarantining himself after coming into contact with a person who tested positive for the coronavirus.
On Sunday (March 8), Ted Cruz announced that he would be quarantining himself from the general public after coming into contact with someone tested positive for the coronavirus. The Texas Senator briefly interacted with an attendee at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) last week and later found out that the person fell victim to the life-threatening disease. The person was asymptomatic during the time of their interaction with Cruz as the two shook hands during their exchange. Now, the 49-year-old is decided to undergo a self-quarantine in order to protect his family and political associates. Win McNamee/Getty Images
Cruz released an official statement revealing his decision to be self-quarantined his social media platforms. The statement reads:
"Last night, I was informed that 10 days ago at CPAC I briefly interacted with an individual who is currently symptomatic and has tested positive for COVID-19. That interaction consisted of a brief conversation and a handshake."
The former Presidential candidate then went on to let the public know that he is currently experiencing no symptoms and is taking precautionary measures after speaking multiple health advisors. Cruz continued:
"I'm not experiencing any symptoms, and I feel fine and healthy. Given that the interaction was 10 days ago, that the average incubation period is 5-6 days, that the interaction was for less than a minute, and that I have no current symptoms, the medical authorities have advised me that the odds of transmission from the other individual to me were extremely low."
According to the Washinton Post, the CPAC attendee who fell victim to the coronavirus also interacted with chairman Matt Schlapp, who then allegedly shook hands with President Donald J. Trump. However, a timeline of the event has yet to be confirmed.
In the past, Senator Ted Cruz has made some questionable decisions, some political and some personal, but hopefully, the notorious politician will be able to pull through and test negative for the coronavirus that is rapidly spreading across the globe.

Italy Quarantines 16 Million People Due To Coronavirus Outbreak
Italy is taking extreme precautions due to the coronavirus.
An outbreak of the novel coronavirus has forced Italy to quarantine approximately 16 million people. Last month, government officials of the highly-populated area of Italy’s Lombardy region were forced to quarantine approximately 50,000 people after confirmed cases of the virus sky-rocketed from five to more than a hundred in less than three days. The Italian coronavirus outbreak allegedly began in the city of Codogno after a 38-year old man, known as ‘patient zero’ had been diagnosed with the disease. Now, Italy has become Europe’s most contaminated country on the continent with government officials taking extraordinary precautions to stop the spread of the disease. Marco Di Lauro/Getty Images
According to BBC, the coronavirus has struck the country’s Northern and Central provinces resulting in stricter quarantine methods in the region. Under these temporary regulations, citizens in the Lombardy region and the 14 other Central and Northern provinces will need special authorization to travel throughout the country.
Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has taken command closing schools, gyms, museums, nightclubs, sporting events, and other establishments across the country. Highly-populated cities including Milan and Venice are currently under quarantine orders affecting approximately 16 million Italian citizens. Conte released an official statement to the Italian media advising people to stay indoors, stating:
“There will be no movement in or out of these areas, or within them, unless for proven work-related reasons, emergencies or health reasons,” Conte told the public. “We are facing an emergency, a national emergency. We have to limit the spread of the virus and prevent our hospitals from being overwhelmed.”
This past Saturday (March 7), a total of 5,833 confirmed cases flood the country with a total of 230 fatalities caused by the virus have been confirmed including a reported 36 deaths in 24 hours. Italy’s Chief of Staff for the Italian Army, Salvatore Farina, is among those affected and is currently ‘self-isolating.’
The United States is currently taking extra precautions to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in major metropolitan cities like New York and Los Angeles as well. Check out BBC‘s official report declaring a quarantine of 16 million people in the video provided below.
Jackie Chan Is Not Under Quarantine For Coronavirus
Jackie Chan was rumoured to have been placed under quarantine for coronavirus but he issued a statement denouncing that as fake news.
With the global scare of COVID-19, also known as coronavirus, becoming more and more intense, rumours are beginning to plague the world of pop culture as Jackie Chan was said to have been placed under quarantine as a precaution. It is unclear where the source of this chatter stems from but, thankfully, it has been proven untrue by the actor himself as he revealed in a statement that he is doing just fine.
In a written post on his personal website, the 65-year-old Hong Kongese martial artist confirmed that he has not been placed under quarantine for COVID-19.

“Recently, my staff told me about the news that’s been circulating around the world, saying that I’ve been placed under quarantine for COVID-19,” he began. “Firstly, I’d like to take this opportunity to say ‘thank you’ for everybody’s concern! I’m very healthy and safe, and haven’t been quarantined. I’ve received many messages from friends asking if I’m ok. Your love and concern is so heartwarming. Thank you! I’ve also received some very special gifts from fans all over the world during this very difficult time. Thank you for the face masks. Your thoughtfulness is well received! And I’ve asked my lovely staff to donate your kindness through official organisations to those who need it most.”
As the world continues to fear for the novel virus, we wouldn’t be surprised if further rumours arise similar this one. Thankfully, Jackie Chan is safe and is doing well.

"Mission: Impossible 7" Halted Due To Italian Coronavirus Outbreak
“Mission: Impossible 7” shut down production due to the Coronavirus outbreak in Italy.
Mission: Impossible 7 shut down production due to the recent coronavirus outbreak in Italy. Tom Cruise and the entire Mission: Impossible 7 movie crew are currently in Italy to film the seventh installment of the blockbuster franchise. While Cruise might have been able to do the impossible a total of six times, exposing himself to the disease that has taken the lives of over 2,000 people since its discovery in Dec. might not be the mission he wants to perform.

According to Deadline, Italy has 219 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, the largest number outside of China, Japan, and South Korea. Production for Mission: Impossible 7 was slated to begin shooting in Venice, but since the Italian government has basically locked down the country and canceled all major events, movie production was forced to do the same.
Paramount Pictures released a statement voicing their concerns about the safety of their employees, saying:
“Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and well-being of our cast and crew, and efforts of the local Venetian government to halt public gatherings in response to the threat of coronavirus, we are altering the production plan for our three-week shoot in Venice, the scheduled first leg of an extensive production for Mission: Impossible 7. During this hiatus, we want to be mindful of the concerns of the crew and are allowing them to return home until production starts. We will continue to monitor this situation, and work alongside health and government officials as it evolves.”
While some alternate publications have been reporting that Cruise was in Italy during the outbreak, Deadline has confirmed that Cruise was not in the country when production shut down. With a vaccine reportedly created, hopefully, humanity will be able to contain the coronavirus before it becomes any more than a pandemic.
