It's quite possible that Selena's Gomez new song, "Souvenir," is about her ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd, according to her eagle-eyed fans. On Thursday (April 9th), Selena released a deluxe version of her album, Rare, featuring three new bonus tracks. Among them, "Souvenir," stood out the most to fans, but not necessarily because it's the better song. Some keen observers in Selena's fandom played close attention to the lyrics of "Souvenir," and noticed some possible references to her ex, The Weeknd. While Selena, of course, does not address her former lover directly, a few lines in particular had fans speculating that the subject of "Souvenir," was a certain After Hours singer.

"You’re giving me chills at a hundred degrees," Selena sings. "It’s better than pills how you put me to sleep / Calling your name, the only language I can speak / taking my breath, a souvenir that you can keep." The lyric, "Calling your name, the only language I can speak," in particular had fans reeling, since The Weeknd's song, "Call Out Your Name," off his 2018 EP, My Dear Melancholy, has been rumoured to be out Selena.
This isn't the first time fans have drawn connections to their past relationship in their music. When The Weeknd released his highly anticipated album, After Hours, a few weeks ago, the song, "Save Your Tears," included some lyrics that could have been referencing his ex. In particular, the line, "I saw you dancing in a crowded room," made fans think of Selena's song, "Crowded Room," off Rare. While all these lyrical similarities could just be a coincidence, it'd be interesting to find out if they are actually intentional links to their relationship.
Rare Nintendo PlayStation Prototype Goes For $360,000 At Auction
A gamer's dream.
The gaming wars have fans picking their favorite console. There are Xbox fans in one corner, Nintendo fans in another, and Playstation lovers in their own space. Computer gamers do their own thing, but the console wars carry on. Although many people do end up buying multiple systems, imagine having two in one? Once believed to be an urban myth, the super rare Nintendo NES Playstation prototype system exists and was placed on auction last month. The auctioneer website states that this model is "the last remaining prototype of the alleged 200 that were forged from the failed joint-venture between Sony and Nintendo."
The mythical console was recently sold for $360,000 through Heritage Auctions. Vice reports that the Nintendo PlayStation has become the highest-priced video game console ever. Although the buyer has remained anonymous, the previous owner of the system told Engadget that it was purchased for $75 at an auction. It remained in the attic for years until the owner's son discovered it and thought it may be worth some cash. The console still works, but there are no commercialized games that were developed specifically for the system. Heritage Auction writes that the console can play "Super Famicom and Super Nintendo games" and also includes, " A CD-ROM drive that was meant to play disc-based media and presumably video games as well."
Roddy Ricch’s "The Box" Claims No. 1 Spot On Charts For Second Week In A Row
"The Box" is heading for world domination.
Roddy Ricch is having a very fortuitous 2020. The 21-year-old Compton rapper made a case for his talent when his breakout single, "The Box," prevented Justin Bieber's "Yummy" from topping the charts earlier this month. Following Bieber's attempts and subsequent failure to debut "Yummy" at No. 1 in a panic, Bieber's ex Selena Gomez mirrored his public pleas for streams when Roddy's debut album, Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, posed a threat to Selena's album, Rare, debuting at No. 1. While Selena may have ultimately achieved what she set out to, it wasn't without having to resort to desperately begging fans to help her get there, all because Roddy Ricch proved to be more powerful than either of these pop stars could have ever predicted. Now, Roddy has further solidified himself as a force to be reckoned with, as "The Box" spends a second consecutive week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 Charts.
As "The Box" remains perched at the top of the charts, Roddy becomes the first act in the 2020s to lead the Hot 100 for more than one week. When "The Box" first defeated "Yummy" for the coveted throne before Selena beat out Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, Roddy had also become the first act in the 2020s to hold the #1 song and #1 album at the same time. Currently, "The Box" is preventing Future and Drake's new track "Life Is Good" from claiming the pole position. If Roddy's domination over some of the biggest artists in pop music wasn't impressive, his ability to block two of the world's biggest rappers from claiming the No. 1 spot sure is. Not only are Roddy's stats impressive in comparison to other artists on the charts right now, he's also giving last year's artists' numbers a run for their money. Roddy scored the highest streaming total with 77.2 million streams since Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' "Old Town Road" totalled 86.2 million streams in July 2019. Roddy was also recently announced as one of the artists participating in a tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle at the Grammy Awards this upcoming Sunday.
Selena Gomez Secures No.1 With "Rare" Knocking Roddy Ricch Out Of Top Spot
Ain’t too proud to beg.
Justin Bieber‘s begging couldn’t help him secure the Billboard 200 chart No. 1 spot over Roddy Ricch, but it looks like Selena Gomez’s public pleas worked. It was revealed on Tuesday (January 21) that Gomez has secured her third consecutive No. 1 album with her recently released Rare. The project marked the first record Selena had released in four years, and it was important to the singer to see what she called her most important album to date top the charts.

Of course, Roddy Ricch’s debut Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial has been welcomed with open arms worldwide along with his single “The Box,” causing artists like Beiber and Gomez to repeatedly plead with their fans to stream their music. The “Yummy” singer gave detailed instructions on how fans could increase his streaming numbers while Gomez shared a photo of herself after purchasing numerous copies for her own record. She also shared a video explaining why it was important to her that Rare reach the No. 1 spot, a move that Joe Budden recently criticized her for. Roddy tweeted out to his fans, as well, telling them to stream Beiber and Gomez’s song and album, respectively.
Billboard noted that Rare came in at “112,000 equivalent album units earned” while PEMFBA lost it’s No. 1 spot and “falls one rung with 110,000 equivalent album units earned” for the week. Gomez couldn’t contain her excitement about the news on Instagram. “It’s officially out! I was a bit embarrassed asking so often for you to stream or buy my album,” she wrote. “It felt inauthentic. Thank YOU so much for making something so personal to me be a moment I’ll never forget. All I truly desire is for you all to enjoy the music and spread the love ???.”
Selena Gomez Gets "Rare" Tattoo Amid Desperation To Beat Roddy Ricch On Charts
Selena has immortalized her latest album forever.
Selena Gomez dropped her third solo studio album, Rare, last week, and the singer decided to show how much the project means to her with some new ink.
Selena took to Instagram to share her latest addition, a neck tattoo of the word, "Rare," written in cursive. She included a photo of her freshly inked neck and a vintage-filtered video of her first reactions' to the artwork, and revealed in the caption that she "did it again." Selena visited Bang Bang Tattoo Parlour in New York City to get this work done. Bang Bang shared a photo of the ink on their Instagram account as well with the simple caption, "“Rare” @selenagomez."
With the release of Rare, Selena joined the ranks of famous pop stars desperately begging for streams in order to beat hip hop newcomer, Roddy Ricch. Okay, she and ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber may be the only artists to engage in these very specific chart-hungry antics so far, but Roddy has still somehow managed to put two of pop music's most successful artists (and, coincidentally, two exes) at risk of not debuting at #1 within the span of two weeks. While Justin was attempting to dethrone Roddy's breakout single "The Box" with his own comeback track, "Yummy," Selena resorted to begging her fans for streams in order for her whole album to debut at #1 on the charts, upon finding out that Rare and Roddy's album, Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, were neck-and-neck.
Selena also revealed that she was heading to Walmart, Target, and Best Buy to buy as many physical copies of Rare as possible and of course encouraged her fans to follow suit. She even questions if she's "kind of desperate for doing this" in the clip.
Roddy, of course, caught wind of this, and, just as he did for "Yummy," jokingly told fans to "stream rare by selena gomez." It looks like the power of Roddy Ricch cannot be underestimated.
Roddy Ricch Mocks Selena Gomez’ Attempts To Go No. 1 After Justin Bieber Failed
Roddy Ricch wants everyone to go stream Selena Gomez' new album "Rare."
Could the same fate be awaiting another pop star this coming week? Roddy Ricch is on top of the world to start off the year, seeing his debut album Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial hit the top of the Billboard 200, as well as his single "The Box" becoming his first-ever chart-topper on the Billboard Hot 100. Justin Bieber really wanted to reach the pole position of the listing with his return record "Yummy," even going so far as to tell his international fans to download a virtual private network to stream the cut on repeat. That didn't end up working for him and now, Selena Gomez is trying similar tactics to dethrone the Compton rapper from his spot.
Taking to social media, Selena Gomez asked all of her fans to give her new album Rare a listen, noting that it would be a dream come true for it to reach No. 1 in its first week out. Early projections had her slated to accomplish that feat but, after a few days, it is now being reported that she and Roddy Ricch are neck and neck for the top spot. Much like he did with the Biebs, Ricch is unbothered by all of these pop stars and their pleas to get their music played more frequently, trolling Selena Gomez by promoting her project instead of his.
"Stream rare by selena gomez," tweeted the rapper. Perhaps this strategy will work out for the second week in a row. Gomez has been notably vocal about wanting her album to reach No. 1 but she's got a major obstacle to jump over if she wants it. Who do you think will end up on top?
Selena Gomez & Hailey Bieber Spotted At Same Restaurant, Drama Erupts
Selena fans tried to stir up some controversy.
On Friday, Selena Gomez released her first album in over four years, Rare. Several of the songs chronicle the falling-out of her long relationship with Justin Bieber and the aftermath of her coping with it. After she shared the album’s first single, “Lose You To Love Me”, Hailey Bieber was suspected of throwing shade at Selena for making not-so-subtle references to her husband on the song. Given these circumstances, a run-in between Hailey and Selena has the potential to be somewhat awkward.
While we can’t confirm that Hailey and Selena dining at the same restaurant on Saturday night (Jan. 11) resulted in an awkward encounter, we can confirm that it sparked some drama online. TMZ reported that both of these stars dined at Craig’s in West Hollywood that evening. Hailey was there with her friend, Madison Beer, around the same time Selena was inside. Selena supposedly left an hour before Hailey’s party did, but there was some overlap in the time they spent at the restaurant.
A fight did not break out between The Biebs’ mutuals, but Selena’s fans tried to stir up some controversy anyway. Selenators flooded the comments of Madison Beer’s last post, shaming her participating in a ruse to spoil their idol’s album release weekend. Beer defended herself by explaining that it was merely a coincidence that Selena happened to be at the same resto. “i just had dinner with my friend hailey of 10 years… and that’s it?” she wrote in the comments. “how is that a crime? i love selena.. always have … and i would literally never in a million years try to upset her??? this is just mean and unnecessary and nothin happened.”
Selena also weighed in to put her presumptuous fans in order. “This wasn’t intentional whatsoever,” she wrote. “I’m so disappointed that people would speak to someone like this … There is no issue.”
