CrossFit CEO and co-founder, Greg Glassman, officially resigned this week, after he was widely criticized for making some insensitive comments about George Floyd and the coronavirus pandemic. His decision came after he realized his words had "created a rift in the CrossFit community and unintentionally hurt many of its members."

"Those who know me know that my sole issue is the chronic disease epidemic," Glassman said in a statement released on Tuesday (June 9th). "I know that CrossFit is the solution to this epidemic and that CrossFit HQ and its staff serve as the stewards of CrossFit affiliates worldwide. I cannot let my behavior stand in the way of HQ's or affiliates' missions."
On Saturday, after the company had already come under fire for their failure to voice their solidarity with the Black community amid the outbreak of protests against police brutality and systemic racism, Glassman made an odd joke on Twitter about George Floyd, whose murder by police served as the catalyst for said protests.
In response to a tweet from the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation that read, "racism and discrimination are critical public health issues that demand an urgent response," Glassman wrote, "It's FLOYD-19." He appeared to be mocking this notion that racism is an epidemic much like coronavirus, all the while making light of Floyd's tragic death.
He then followed up his response by criticizing the research institute's failure to develop a solution to the spread of COVID-19. "Your failed model quarantined us and now you're going to model a solution to racism?" he tweeted. "George Floyd's brutal murder sparked riots nationally. Quarantine alone is 'accompanied in every age and under all political regimes by an undercurrent of suspicion, distrust, and riots.' Thanks!"
Glassman's brash remarks led to the dissolution of CrossFit partnerships with brands like Reebook. Dave Castro, the director of the CrossFit Games, will replace Glassman as CEO. "I'm honoured to take on the role of CEO of CrossFit, Inc.," Castro said in a statement. "I hope to do right by affiliates, trainers, athletes, and other members of the CrossFit community around the world and never lose sight of the mission Greg established for us all."
Buffalo Emergency Response Team Quits In Solidarity With Cops Who Shoved Old Man
The entire Buffalo Emergency Response Team has resigned in response to the suspension of two cops who were filmed shoving a 75-year-old man to the ground.
After two Buffalo cops were suspended without pay for shoving a 75-year-old protestor to the pavement, causing him to crack his head and bleed from his ears, the city’s entire Emergency Response Team has resigned.
“Fifty-seven resigned in disgust because of the treatment of two of their members, who were simply executing orders,” said John Evans, president of the Buffalo Police Benevolent Association. The emergency squad was formed in 2016 and is deployed in instances of mass protests or riots. WGRZ confirms that while these officers have resigned from the ERT, they are, in fact, still employed.
Footage of the Buffalo police officers pushing the elderly man to the ground began circulating on Thursday night. In the disturbing, violent clip, 75-year-old Martin Gugino, a well-known activist in the city, can be seen approaching a hoard of officers. The crowd of cops continues to charge forward, as two of them pushing Martin down, causing him to hit his head. These two officers responsible, one of whom has been identified as Aaron Torgalski, were suspended immediately by Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown. According to Mayor Brown, an investigation has been launched by Buffalo Police Commissioner Byron Lockwood.
As of Friday morning, Martin has been reported to be “alert and oriented,” though still in a “serious yet stable condition.”

In 2003, Kobe was charged with rape and the case was dismissed after the accuser refused to testify. Kobe and the woman settled outside of court and he apologized while stating his innocence. Some individuals have linked Kobe's history to his death and one principal at Camas High School in Camas, Washington has resigned from her position after speaking publicly on the matter. After hearing about the crash, Liza Sejkora wrote on Facebook: "Not gonna lie. Seems to me that karma caught up with a rapist today." Her post pulled in a few comments with some users who agreed while others called her words "unbelievable."
"I have some personal experience that generated the visceral reaction," Liza told ABC Portland station KATU. "This was a situation where I didn't think before I posted, and I'm terribly regretful about that."
High School Principal Resigns After Calling Kobe’s Death "Karma"
Insensitive comments about Kobe Bryant's death cost this principle her job.
A High School principal in Washington State has resigned following backlash to an insensitive Facebook post about Kobe Bryant, according to KGW.
Dr. Liza Sejkora, the principle in question, wrote, "Not gonna lie. Seems to me that karma caught up with a rapist today," followed by a shrug emoji. Sejkora says she took the post down after an hour, but someone screenshotted it and shared it in the community.
Students planned a walkout in response to her post.
Superintendent Jeff Snell announced that Sejkora would be resigning on Friday. In response to the post, Snell said, "I don't support it. It's hard for me to understand it. Anytime there's a loss of life, I hope that all of us come together and rally around that. It didn't come across that way. That's really unfortunate."
“This has been a tumultuous week, however, I’ve been impressed with the level of professionalism our staff members have displayed as well as the caring and compassion from our families,” Snell added.
“I am working with the Camas leadership to resign my position as principal of Camas High School,” Sejkora said on Friday. “Students and staff deserve to have a learning environment free of disruptions.”
Sejkora was referring to a sexual assault allegation leveled against Bryant in 2003. Bryant was never convicted and he settled out of court with his accuser.
