Alternative clothing brand Dolls Kill was under fire by the public over their response to the Black Lives Matter protests in Los Angeles. The punk and goth apparel company's owner, Shoddy Lynn, shared an image to social media showing over two dozen armed police officers barricading a street that just happened to be in front of her brick and mortar store. "Direct Action in its glory," she wrote in the caption. Soon, Dolls Kill was called out for their lack of acknowledgment of the BLM movement overall, including a critical response from Top Dawg Entertainment singer SZA.

The brand later issued an apology on Instagram where they recognized that "we f*cked up" and "we should have been quicker + louder." The post also stated: "You are right to be upset with us — we were slow to show our support of BLACK LIVES MATTER and we should have done more. Dolls Kill is a company, but first _ foremost a collective of misfits who work 2 make this brand what it is & we need to make some things clear. WE @ DOLLS KILL CONDEMN RACISM, POLICE BRUTALITY, VIOLENCE, BIGOTRY AND HATE."
The company went on to say they don't usually speak out on issues and leave that to their customers, but that's not an excuse. Even after writing that they would donate to BLM, SZA slid in the comments and asked, "You called the cops on protestors???? ... wow." Rico Nasty also tweeted that the brand's owner unfollowed her on social media. "See y'all at Hot Topic," she wrote. Coi Leray called for the brand to be canceled, especially as it surfaced that they've carried clothing that stated "Goth is white" and "Dead girls can't say no." Check out their apology and a few responses below.
Rico Nasty & Coi Leray Are Beefing On Twitter
Rico Nasty and Coi Leray throw shots at one another on Twitter.
Since it's seemingly impossible for two female rappers to win at the same time, it looks like the latest beef has kicked off between Rico Nasty and Coi Leray.
Coi Leray seemed offended by Rico Nasty on Twitter, coming for her and telling her to keep the same energy she's got when they meet in person. The statement kicked off a war of words between both rappers with accusations flying around about one being better than the other.
"@Rico_nastyy when you see me Just make sure you keep that same energy... I showed you love but you just can’t deal with that fact that I MAKE BETTER MUSIC THAN YOU , I LOOK BETTER THAN YOU, I DRESS BETTER THAN YOU , and never in my life have I JOCKED your style," wrote Coi Leray.
"I haven’t laughed this hard since idk when . I could hear ur lisp through this . Shut up dick eater," replied Rico Nasty, clapping back before Coi deleted her tweets.
The feud went on for an hour, with accusations flying over a make-up artist that became friends with Coi after falling out with Rico.
"Make better music .. lemme see ya streams and YouTube views . Have u went gold or platinum THEEFUCK U ARE FAMOUS BC YOU SUCK A MEAN DICK WITH THEM BIG ASS TEETH . Don’t come over here making this shit about me . I was minding my business . Tryna get shit RITE with MY FRIEND," hit back Rico before Coi slammed her.
"Only been signed for a year and a half and I’ve been on every festival stage you been on with no album out. YOUR FRIEND ... just as much as you know I know too baby it’s all love," said Leray.
Clearly these two just do not like each other. Keep an eye on both of their socials for the latest.
Rico Nasty Proves Her New Fitness Regime Is Paying Off
Rico Nasty showed off her progress thus far after implementing a new fitness and meal plan, and the results show that her hard work is paying off.
Rico Nasty recently introduced a new diet and fitness regime into her life, and she decided to show off the noticeable results of her new routine after just three weeks. While the rapper is already quite slim, it seems she wanted to gain some muscle and definition, so she opted to start working out more and eating healthier. On Thursday, Rico posted the latest update of her progress after starting her new fitness journey less than a month ago, and it looks like her hard work is starting to pay off.
“These pictures only 3 weeks apart fr,” Rico wrote on the post, showing her “before” and “after” bodies. “I only gained about 4lbs .. Shout out to @kacesters &&&& @workouts_by_katya for the workout plans workout gear and MEAL plans. I’m so excited to see the results when 8 weeks is over.” While the change isn’t drastic, there’s definitely some more definition on her abs, and she still has five weeks to go. Her good pal, A$AP Ferg, gave her some encouragement on the post, writing, “Keep it up,” with a flexed bicep emoji.

Rico’s been documenting her fitness journey in a series of earlier posts, as well. On Monday, she posted a photo of herself posing in the mirror with a protein shake, captioned, “MOOOOOD. Happy Monday drink your shakes do ya leg lifts dance in the mirror ect.”
Doja Cat Delivers Fun & Sultry "Say So" Performance For "Tonight Show"
Doja Cat's hit song is climbing the charts, so she slipped on a sexy pink 'fit and performed to the late-night talk show's audience.
Her album Hot Pink continues to be a hit worldwide, so it's no surprise that Doja Cat found her way to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon stage. Doja's single "Say So" may have debuted on the Billboard chart at No. 95, but it's become a viral sensation after social media users have stormed apps to create dance routines to the track. On Wednesday (February 26), Doja performed her nostalgic, groovy single to the talk show audience while wearing a pink, body-hugging, sparkly, bell-bottomed bodysuit.

With a TikTok "Say So" dance that circulating online, Doja had to throw some of the moves in with her routine. The singer-rapper's notoriety gained steam after her "Moo" video went viral, but as she continued to release music, the public wasn't taking her seriously as an artist. Now that she's collaborated with the likes of Tyga, Rico Nasty, Anderson .Paak, and Gucci Mane—not to mention receiving a co-sign from Nicki Minaj—it seems as if the world is ready to accept her for the true artist that she is.
The response to Doja's "Say So" performance on The Tonight Show was overwhelmingly positive, so check out Doja Cat along with a few reactions to her appearance on the talk show below.
How Doja Cat’s "Mooo!" Set The Tone For Her Career
Transitioning from novelty to artist on the rise, we look at the ways in which Doja Cat’s first viral smash has informed her career from here on out.
At a time where it can feel like we’re being presented various shades of the same product, Doja Cat brings another flavour entirely. Equal parts inspired by Erykah Badu, Pharrell, Partynextdoor, video games and Japanese culture, the Los Angeles-born Amalaratna Zandile Dlamini has gone from being a tertiary artist gasping for the air of publicity to sending fans into hysterics with the news that she’d be heading out on tour or getting bankrolled to contribute to superhero movie soundtracks.

Far from a placid carbon-copy of what’s gone before, the raunchiness of Doja’s music is teamed with a vibrant sense of humour and an insistence on not taking herself too seriously. Brought into the major label sphere by the disgraced Dr.Luke and his Kemosabe imprint, it’s easy to forget that she’s not some overnight sensation when the volume of stories and fan accounts dedicated to her has risen at such a rapid rate over the past few years. Setting off with her 2014 EP Purrr! the talented vocalist began in the vein of a sultry R&B vocalist, producing music that shared more DNA with Jhene Aiko and Summer Walker than it does with her current contemporaries such as Megan Thee Stallion and Rico Nasty. Intoxicating as tracks such as “So High” and “Control” were, they lacked a real sense of identity. In her words, this came from an instinct “to collect all the things that interested me.”
Thrust into the industry during her teens, Doja has since been able to deconstruct why she reached something of a standstill when it came to increasing her profile in those early years. “I was high half the time. I was smoking hella weed. I was being a fucking delinquent,” she told The Face.”I had no idea how to be a businesswoman, and it took me about six years to realize that’s what I need to do.” Then, one fateful glint of inspiration would change everything. Made over the course of one day including filming a video with a makeshift bedspread green screen, the humorous yet undeniably catchy refrain of “Mooo!” changed everything. The kind of subject matter that could only be taken on by someone who was making YouTube tutorials at 14, Doja is very much a disciple of the internet in every sense and despite not being a conscious effort to create a meme, the “shitposting” mentality had naturally bled into the track.
Without trying too hard, Doja had found a way to harness virality and in turn, found a niche that completely altered her fortunes. “I proved to myself that I could do something that was worth watching,” she claimed. “It’s a fucking crazy video. Like, how do you not click that?” Organic as its creation was, with “Mooo!” Doja Cat found the crossroads between musical merit and comedy, a tone that her career has continued to carry. For her, it’s an integral part of the game as she told The Face that “I feel like you need to be a little bit of a comedian to be a rapper.”
After it brought new eyes and ears to what she was doing, the increased name recognition of rapping about a cow could’ve been the death knell for her legitimacy. In Doja’s case, her awareness of the internet’s practically non-existent attention span meant that it was time to feed them more content. As such, her March 2018 debut project Amala was reissued with the meme-worthy track in tow. Allowing those who’d came for the absurdity to stay for unique R&B and hip-hop hybrids such as “Go To Town” and “Candy.”

As the buzz around Doja as a major artist has grown, she’s remained mindful of what allotted her this favourable position in the first place. Thus, when it comes to social media, she offsets thirst traps with comedic hijinks, while her elaborate live streams give fans a chance to observe the creative process in real-time as well, and offer an opportunity to hear Doja’s trademark candidness— which is part and parcel with her approach to music, too. Meanwhile, Doja’s repertoire of YouTube-based acapella performances such as the Mark Morrison-inspired “Return of The Snack” ensures that there’s still an outlet for her frivolous fun-having antics, even when the stakes are a lot higher.
“That’s a small portion of my career, taking a moment to do something stupid,” she said. “I have a song called ‘Waffles Are Better Than Pancakes.’ If I can’t be goofy, I’ll go insane.” As her stock continued to climb, the natural impulse would be to follow the blueprint to the letter. Yet for Doja, the release of her November 2019 sophomore offering Hot Pink was a chance to show the world how she could infuse her more gaudy lyricism and jol edge with elite-level output.
“With my first album it was a little bit like I was practicing,” she informed The Fader. “It’s like, you know the first time you do anything, you kind of have to figure out who you are? I feel like with this second project I know who I am and I know what I want and I know what I want it to sound like. I’m really proud of this.”
Tasked with an unenbly thin line to walk, Hot Pink kept the spirit of the no-rules, no-consequences approach that defined her earlier work and allowed it to manifest in previously unanticipated ways. Sampling Blink-182, working with Gucci Mane and above all, approaching the record with a clear head, the exponential rise in chart position from Amala’s peak of #95 to Hot Pink’s massive push to number 19 on the Billboards goes to show that all the hard work is paying off.

Although “Mooo!” is behind her in some ways, everything from her more whimsical bars to her IG interactions means that she now judiciously walks a tightrope between being typecast and expanding far beyond the repressive limitations of a comedy rapper. Hitting on that sweet spot between zaniness and credibility that recalls Luda, Missy Elliott and De La Soul, what remains to be seen is whether this cross-sectional approach will allow her to crack that top 10 in the years to come. Either way, don’t expect the dalliances with social media-ready comedy to go anywhere fast.
“I just like to do the fun stuff,” she informed Billboard. “If I’m not having fun with it, I’m not going to do it for the rest of my life, I just wanna bring something fun — the current climate is so uptight and serious and it’s just good to have something stupid to laugh at.”
Cardi B Says Rico Nasty Is "Up Next"
Cardi B and Rico Nasty gave each other some positive affirmations after an old clip of Cardi rapping "Bodak Yellow" resurfaced on Twitter.
Cardi B and Rico Nasty were spreading the love on Twitter after an old tweet of Cardi rapping her breakout hit, "Bodak Yellow," in a clip resurfaced. In a world where women in hip hop are so often pitted against each other and the public pushes narratives about constant beef, it's always refreshing when two female rappers have nothing but kind words for each other. Such actions recently occurred on Twitter, when a video of Cardi B rapping the hit song that would launch her into superstardom made its rounds. The tweet was posted by Cardi herself on April 22nd, 2017, a few months before "Bodak Yellow" was released and Cardi subsequently blew up.
At the time when Cardi was better known as a reality star, but all that was about to change. Rico Nasty brought up Cardi's impending success at the time when she retweeted the throwback tweet on Friday, noting how dope the song already sounded back then.
"This so fire it didnt even have adlibs yet omg," Rico tweeted. "I wonder if she knew right here how big that song would be." Cardi responded with the answer she was looking for, and even asked Rico if she knows that she's destined to follow in her footsteps.
"Yeup ... I felt in my heart !" Cardi replied, before asking Rico," ......I wonder if you know your up next ?!" Nothing like queens supporting queens. Could this mean that a collab is on the horizon?
Denzel Curry & Rico Nasty Will Go Head-To-Head For Red Bull Music’s Zeltron Worldwide
Rico Nasty is the next up to step into the ring with Denzel Curry in San Francisco for Red Bull Music’s Zeltron Worldwide.
Denzel Curry has been enjoying the fruits of his labor over the past few years but he has more in his pockets in 2020. The rapper already unleashed 13OOD IN + 13OOD Out mix including new tracks with Zillakami, Xavier Wulf, Ghostmane and more. The rapper waited a few weeks before launching a fake beef with Kenny Beats only to release a joint project titled, UNLOCKED later on.
In the midst of his current prolific run, the rapper’s also plotting out the Zeltron Worldwide events with Red Bull Music. The Zeltron Worldwide is a wrestling-influenced live music show where Denzel Curry goes blow-for-blow with another artist, metaphorically speaking of course. Later this month, the rescheduled Miami date with Denzel Curry and J.I.D will take place but in March, the rapper will be going head-to-head with Rico Nasty for the San Francisco edition of the show. Needless to say, we’ll definitely hear cuts from Denzel Curry and Kenny Beats UNLOCKED as we gear up for Rico’s official debut album Nightmare.
The San Francisco edition will take place at Fort Mason on March 20th. If you’re interested in checking it out, make sure you head over to Red Bull’s website for more information. Denzel Curry has previously dueled Joey Bada$$ in Atlanta in November 2019. Keep your eyes peeled for more information including the final dd
A$AP Rocky, Future, Wiz Khalifa, Meek Mill & More Sign On For Rolling Loud Portugal
DaBaby, Lil Baby, Roddy Ricch, Young Thug, and others are all confirmed as well.
The first-ever iteration of Rolling Loud in Portugal is about to be historic. In the reign of the five-year hip-hop festival, Matt Zingler and Tariq Cherif have brought Rolling Loud to Miami, Los Angeles, the Bay Area, Australia, and other world destinations over the years. It’s time to bring the brand to the beach now, potentially creating a version of Fyre Festival that’s actually worth attending.
While this isn’t being advertised as a luxury fest, Rolling Loud is worth the price of admission solely for the experience of seeing all your favorite rappers in one spot. If you haven’t been able to grab tickets to the Miami dates coming up — and even if you have… — you’ll want to check out details for the upcoming version of the festival in Portugal, for which the lineup has just been announced.
Tickets for the Portuguese version of Rolling Loud, which is happening at Praia De Rocha Beach, are officially on sale and the line-up is nuts. Rico Nasty Reveals She’s Now Single: "U Can Love Yourself More"
Rico is thrilled about the single life.
Rico Nasty has done a good job of keeping her personal life separate from her music career. The DMV rapper is known and loved for her raucous tracks. When she's being showered with attention, it's usually because of her unique sound and her creative looks. There was the rare exception in December when Rico was frantically spamming social media feeds after FKA Twigs allegedly blocked her on Instagram. However, that wasn't scandalous - just hilarious.
Today, Rico uncharacteristically took to Twitter to divulge some information about private matters. She revealed that she's single and she appears to be over the moon about it. "I'm finally single after years and years," she started her series of confessional tweets. "And months of second guessing my happiness and my worth .... lmfao bitch I’m so happy rn." She went on to offer advice to anyone stuck in an unsatisfying relationship that would benefit from the same liberation that she is now experiencing. "I just wanna tell all my bitches rn if u feel like he don’t love u . HE DOESNT . U can love yourself MORE." She finished off this PSA with a succinct motivational message: "Fuck these n****s and these hoes."
