This is a rough patch for Floyd Mayweather. Within weeks, the boxer not only lost the mother to three of his children, Josie Harris, but his uncle, Roger Mayweather, also passed away. Since that time, Floyd has been relatively silent as he grieves, aside from sharing loving memories on his social media pages of these two people that were significant figures in his life.

Earlier this week, Floyd shared a video to his Instagram page where he addresses the public in a somber clip. The famed boxer began his video by saying that he just wanted to take a moment to speak to the world about what he's been going through in his personal life. "I've been dealing with a lot," he said. "As far as dealing with the loss of the mother of my children, she was a significant other, a great woman, a great person. And dealing with a trainer, an uncle, a father figure, Roger Mayweather. So I've been dealing with a lot."
"I'm affected by this. It hurts to see what the world is going through," Floyd continued. "But I want us to stick together and keep believing." Floyd Mayweather admitted that he isn't a perfect person and makes mistakes regularly, but he's constantly working on becoming a better man. Unlike others, Floyd said that he will continue to help those in need without announcing it to the public. "As long as God [knows] that I'm doing a good deed, that' what's important to me." Floyd Mayweather lost the mother of his kids, his uncle, and his basketball icon friend within a matter of months.
It’s been an emotionally taxing season for Floyd Mayweather. Not only was Josie Harris—his ex-girlfriend and mother of three of his children—found dead in Santa Clarita, California last week, days later he lost his trainer and uncle, Roger Mayweather. The champion boxer is grieving the loss of two close loved ones during this time when people are told to stay indoors and remain isolated due to a worldwide pandemic.
According to TMZ, Floyd Mayweather had big plans for 2020. The coronavirus quarantine has caused the world to pause as the World Health Organization comes up with the best way to handle this unprecedented situation, but even if coronavirus hadn’t caused the cancelation of sports events, Mayweather reportedly would have called them off, anyway.
It’s reported that Mayweather had two fights lined up this year: “One event involving the UFC and another fight against an established, respected boxer.” These rapid sudden losses, including that of Floyd Mayweather’s good friend Kobe Bryant, have reportedly put boxing on the backburner. TMZ adds that these postponements will be temporary and fans will just have to see how Floyd fares in the months to come. Additionally, we’re all awaiting the outcome of this COVID-19 clampdown as the United States government recently shared the fall out of coronavirus could last for up to 18 months.
50 Cent Reacts To Floyd Mayweather’s Uncle’s Death
50 Cent put his feud with Floyd Mayweather Jr. to the side to post a tribute to the boxer’s uncle, Roger Mayweather, who passed away this week.
50 Cent and Floyd Mayweather Jr. were once very close, which likely means that the rapper also built a relationship with the championship boxer’s uncle, his trainer Roger Mayweather. Fif and Floyd are now bitter enemies but that doesn’t mean that the feud extends to every facet of The Money Team. Upon hearing the news that Roger Mayweather passed away this week, 50 Cent dropped off a quick tribute message to his family.
“R.I.P uncle Roger God bless,” wrote the executive producer of Power and For Life, putting aside his differences with Floyd Mayweather Jr. for a few moments. The post includes a photo of the two together.
Jeff Bottari/Getty ImagesRoger Mayweather is viewed as a boxing legend for his contributions to his nephew’s championship career, and his passing at just 58-years-old seems like he was taken away from the world far too prematurely.
“My uncle was one of the most important people in my life inside and outside of the ring,” said Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a statement. “Roger was a great champion and one of the best trainers in boxing. Unfortunately, his health was failing him for several years and now he can finally rest in peace.”
Roger had long struggled with diabetes, according to the statement.
Rest in peace, Roger Mayweather.
Floyd Mayweather’s Uncle, Roger Mayweather, Dead At 58
R.I.P to the boxing legend.
According to a report from TMZ, Floyd Mayweather’s uncle, Roger Mayweather, has sadly passed away at the age of 58.
Its unclear at the moment as for what the cause of his death was, but it’s been known that Roger had been in declining health for years. In fact, Floyd opened up about Roger’s health back in 2015 and blamed boxing for damaging his brain. “My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing,” Floyd said … “He’s only in his 50s, but it seems like he’s an old man in his 80s.”
