It's hard to believe that there was once a time when Metro Boomin's beats were ubiquitous. A testament to his work ethic and creativity. Before long, Metro became the go-to producer for dark bangers, spooky bangers -- bangers period. Look no further than his collaborative work with 21 Savage, namely their modern fan-favorite mixtape Savage Mode; not necessarily a classic in the traditional sense, but significant in what it brought to the table for both parties involved.

As has become the norm in both Hollywood and rap music alike, a sequel has been officially confirmed. Long have we known about the existence of Savage Mode 2, but information about the project's progress is not exactly fruitful. Not long ago, there were reports that it would be releasing in March, but those quickly proved to be unfounded. In truth, it seems as if both parties have been taking their time on the anticipated album, which bodes well for those of us still patiently waiting.
Don't get it twisted. Metro hasn't exactly fallen off the grid entirely. He still comes through to hint at the album's imminent release, as he has done this morning by way of a simple tweet. "I’m in savage mode," he writes, the implication of studio time heavy in the subtext. Of course, the significance behind this "update" depends entirely on Metro's understanding of stirring up hype -- do you think there's fire behind this particular smoke? And more importantly, are you excited to see 21 and Metro triumphant return?
Metro Boomin Reveals Where 21 Savage Has Been
Metro Boomin and 21 Savage have been rumored to be working on "Savage Mode 2."
Over the past few years, Metro Boomin had cemented himself as one of the premier music producers in the entire world. He has numerous hit songs and has worked with a diverse array of artists. Thanks to his relationships, he has various collaborative tapes under his belt, including Savage Mode with 21 Savage which was dropped all the way back in 2016. Recently, there have been numerous photos floating around of 21 and Metro in the studio, working on new music. This has led to speculation that Savage Mode 2 is on the way.
Today, a fan on Twitter asked Metro where 21 has been lately since he has pretty well ghosted his own social media pages. As the producer explained, 21 hasn't been active on his pages because he is currently hard at work.
Metro's statement is pretty ambiguous although any intelligent individual can deduce that 21 is working on brand new music. It appears as though 21 is taking his time and wants to make sure he puts his best foot forward with his next project. 21 has improved with each project and with this in mind, there is no telling where Savage Mode 2 will take us.
Stay tuned for updates on new 21 music as we will be sure to bring it to you.
21 Savage & Summer Walker "Secret" Drops Tonight
Does this mean “Savage Mode 2” is on the way?
21 Savage is breaking his hiatus to drop new music tonight. The rapper and his producer, Metro Boomin, have been teasing us incessantly that they’ve been working on Savage Mode 2, with the quarantine lockdown only adding to the fact that they have more time to get more work done. Still, a release date doesn’t seem to be in the cards, at least not any time soon. Nonetheless, we can now rejoice at the fact that 21 will be dropping a new song tonight, and it features Summer Walker.
The rapper took to Instagram to unveil the artwork for the record, title “Secret.” It’s dark red, with a woman holding her finger up to her lips in the universal “Ssshhh” sign. Check it out below.
Now we can only speculate as to what this will sound like. The two have connected on wax in the past, but it was for Jhene Aiko’s “Triggered” Remix. Nonetheless, we know how much 21 Savage loves his r’n’b. Could this be an exploration into that? Or will it be something sinister, akin to his Savage Mode 2? Perhaps an intersection of both?
We’ll find out at Midnight! Keep it locked.
Metro Boomin & 21 Savage Still Working On "Savage Mode 2"
Not even the looming threat of the coronavirus can prevent Metro Boomin and 21 Savage from working on “Savage Mode 2.”
With the world in a perpetual state of what-the-hell-is-going-on, few things in life have become certain. Yet one truth remains — if we cannot laugh in the face of adversity, perhaps we are truly lost. Even as the coronavirus pandemic has left the entire music industry in a limbo-esque state, Metro Boomin has decided to keep on keeping on, moving forward with his long-awaited 21 Savage collaborative album Savage Mode 2 and doing so with memes in his heart.

Though he has yet to share even the slightest of snippets, Metro has been vigilant in keeping us up to date with in-studio pictures, continuing the trend with an amusing behind-the-scenes picture of a recent session. “When you in the studio and a n***a cough,” he captions, the image speaking for itself.
Tagging both Savage Mode 2 and longtime photographer Jon Cannon, Metro’s latest update proves that the wheels remain in motion — at least to an extent. Whether it means we’ll be seeing a release in the imminent future remains uncertain, though we could all certainly benefit from another dose of spooky bangers from Metro Boomin and 21 Savage. Let’s just hope they’re keeping vigilant in keeping the studio a germ-free zone. Are you still looking forward to their big release?
21 Savage & Metro Boomin Are "Cooking Up A Cure"
Will “Savage Mode 2” save the world from the coronavirus outbreak or are 21 Savage and Metro Booming capping?
With so much uncertainty in the world right now, music is one of the only things keeping us afloat. There’s not much to look forward to, but the current slate of upcoming musical releases is looking promising, so at least there’s that. 21 Savage and Metro Boomin have been hard at work on their sequel project Savage Mode 2, teasing its arrival since last year. With a drop date currently unspecified, it’s looking like it could arrive within the next few weeks or months as the hints keep on getting clearer. Now, the producer-rapper duo plan on saving the world from the mess we’ve found ourselves in with a worldwide remedy.

“Cooking up a cure,” wrote Metro Boomin on Instagram, sharing an old photo of himself and 21 Savage in the studio and explaining that they’re both social distancing right now. Hopefully, they got a good chunk of their project complete before the coronavirus outbreak began because we could all use some Slaughter Gang vibes in our lives right now.
There is no release date yet for Savage Mode 2 but the fact that both artists keep referring to its existence is promising, to say the least. We will continue to keep you updated on any developments pertaining to the album.
Metro Boomin Is In Quarantine Until "Savage Mode 2" Is Complete
21 Savage and Metro Boomin are officially getting ready to release "Savage Mode 2."
It looks like we might be leaving this quarantine situation with the long-awaited sequel to 21 Savage and Metro Boomin's 2016 mixtape, Savage Mode. The continuous tease of Savage Mode 2 has had fans hoping that it would arrive sooner rather than later but it appears that Metro's current project as he practices self-isolation is wrapping up the project. Actually, even if health officials declare it okay to leave the house, Metro Boomin won't be leaving the house until Savage Mode 2 is ready to go.

"Now I can't leave the house until Savage Mode done," he wrote on Twitter followed by two dagger emojis. Metro Boomin and 21 Savage have been slowly plotting on the release of the project. The two sparked speculation that it would drop on March 13th, though that never actually happened.
Savage Mode 2 is among the several projects Metro Boomin has been working on recently. Yesterday, The Weeknd finally released his latest project After Hours that produced a few songs on. On top of that, Lil Durkannounced the No Auto Durk project which is a joint effort with Metro as well. It's unclear when Savage or No Auto Durk will drop but it's safe to say that it'll be after this whole coronavirus crisis dies down completely.
Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on 21 Savage and Metro Boomin's Savage Mode 2.
21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s "Savage Mode 2": What Can We Expect?
Three years removed from dropping the original, 21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s anticipated sequel “Savage Mode 2” in the works – so, what can we expect?
Over three years have passed since Metro Boomin & 21 Savage fused to spark Savage Mode, a mixtape gem that was heavily circulated four years ago thanks to singles such as “X” & “No Heart.” Sand has passed through the hourglass of Savage’s career since he released what might be his edgiest collection of songs; a composition that came to define his signature sound. But with the emcee facing growing popularity and budding mainstream appeal, some of that edge seems to have been shaved off.
21 Savage seemingly hinted at a release date for Savage Mode 2 on Instagram earlier this week: Friday the 13th. How fitting, as the pair combine to create an ominous and menacing soundtrack for the trap’s underworld. Even after the success of Savage Mode, the marriage between Metro and 21 continued to be a magical big bang of cosmic forces – culminating in banger-filled projects like Not All Heroes Wear Capes & Without Warning with Offset. Metro’s dark beats bring out the best of Savage. The musical architect frequently utilizes piano solos on top of strings and other subtle, almost indistinguishable sounds reminiscent of a double cello or bass. The audacity and braggadocios bars of Savage go perfectly over Metro’s spooky foundation. But considering the rapper a different artist now than he was at the tail of the last decade, how might the sequel differ from its predecessor?

It can’t be denied that I Am > I Was found Savage exploring en entirely new style of production. Consider how hit single “A Lot,” produced by DJ Dahi & J White Did It, employs the psalms of a chorus sampled from “I Love You” by East of Underground, which itself samples 1970s trio The Fuzz. Moving into Savage Mode 2, it’s likely we see an updated perspective and evolved musical direction. A merger of both the classic 21 Savage sounds and his new-found tone. Each has a place in his catalog and if blended appropriately has the potential to be brimstone hot. I expect we get more of the creative and imaginative delivery from the rapper with a bit less character than on his last album, I Am > I Was. The effortless and spectacularly unenthusiastic bars only Savage-level swagger can pull off. The variance of his inflection is mesmerizing. He does a phenomenal job of not letting his voice get too mundane on any song. Not to mention exquisitely placed ad-libs to enhance the listening experience. Peep the penultimate verse from “Mad High” for reference.
Pull up on a back street, roll the window down
Pull up on a back street, another n***a down
That AK47 turn your smile into a frown
Bitch I’m from the street, I turn a seven to a pound
I left my baby mama and I went and got a model
You can’t get no guala if you don’t know how to swallow
What the bombaclot, I feel like Oscar ’cause I’m a shotta
You say you gettin’ money what you using as your product?
I hit my first lick and I spent that shit on Prada
N***a sneak dissin’, I got shots for all your partners
Bitch I’m from the six, I eat soul food, not Benihanas
I keep that 223, I knock your head out of your Honda
ASMR stands for autonomous sensory meridian response. 21 even named a song on his last album after the term. His voice invokes a euphoric tingling prefacing a transient state of escape into the music. He does an exceptional job of creating aura and atmosphere by crafting everything from the beat to his delivery to match his chosen vibe. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for his actual ability to spit. When that’s his focus on a brief section of a track, he does damage to the notepad. But don’t expect overwhelming lyricism from Savage, as the rapper has said he’s never going to fixate on being the most lyrical. As such, it’s unlikely Savage Mode 2 will see vast improvements in that department.
Whether you like it or not, you can plan to expect R&B singing from an increasingly melodic Savage — how Metro will merge this sound into the overall consistency of the project is something that should be interesting to see. Speaking again on their musical chemistry, Boomin does a great job of dropping the beat almost entirely to allow 21 space to perform these vocal theatrics; an example of this can be heard on “Do Come Outside.” We can also expect to hear the theme of growth from the rapper who has had several life experiences since the release of Savage Mode. The artist admitted that the project was an acceptance of where he’s been with an eye toward the future. Despite allusions to a more serious tone, hopefully we can expect more of the foolish belligerency that makes Metro-Savage collabs so entertaining. The first chapter started off with the lyrics “F*ck her in my rollie, f*ck her in my rollie, Imma f*ck her in my rollie.” I mean, that’s the Savage we want to hear.
Since garnering a load of press in 2019, Savage has been fairly quiet thus far in 2020. Will he move forward as a greater emcee than he was before his most widely recognized album? We will all find out soon enough.

21 Savage & Metro Boomin Double Down On "Savage Mode II"
There was a time in which the production work of Metro Boomin singlehandedly altered the musical landscape, deftly conjuring spooky trap bangers and handing them out like Halloween candy. Atlanta artist 21 Savage took an immediate liking to Metro's brand of dark banger, his own preference for minimalist horror-film violence making him a well-suited counterpart. Before long the pair dropped Savage Mode, an album many still feel to be 21 Savage's best body of work. Now, days after Metro Boom decried the current state of hip-hop, he's making it abundantly clear that the anticipated Savage Mode 2 is on the way.

Doubling down on an initial announcement tweet, Metro shared a behind-the-scenes picture of himself and 21 in the studio, presumably wrapping up the sequel. Though we have yet to hear any actual music, a gambler might surmise that the vibe will be either brooding, ominous, menacing, essentially a combination of similar adjectives. While it's unlikely they will look to reinvent the wheel, the crazy thing is that Savage Mode is already a few years old, making the sound almost nostalgic by nature -- expect them to go back to basics on this return trip, and why wouldn't they?
While the announcement of Savage Mode II is exciting in itself, it's equally thrilling to see an inspired Metro Boomin plotting a 2020 takeover. Between this and his upcoming No Auto Durk project with Lil Durk, look for him to make a major splash in this shiny new decade.
21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s "Savage Mode II" Is On The Way
Metro Boomin confirmed "Savage Mode 2" with 21 Savage is currently in the pipeline, along with The Weeknd's "After Hours" and Lil Durk's "No Auto Durk."
Metro Boomin and 21 Savage appear to be getting ready to release their forthcoming project, Savage Mode 2later on this year, or at least that's what it seems based on a recent tweet from the acclaimed producer. Metro hit the 'Gram where he teased a slew of projects that he appears to be readying to release later this year. Among them is the sequel to 21 Savage's breakout mixtape, Savage Mode that was in collaboration with Metro.
The NOT ALL HEROES WEAR CAPES mastermind also teased the release of The Weeknd's forthcoming project, AFTER HOURS and the freshly announced, No Auto Durk with Lil Durk. Metro Boomin has been steadily locked in with The Weeknd in recent times, producing the single, "Heartless" and appearing in the video as well. The Toronto singer has yet to reveal a release date for the project but surely, it'll arrive soon. As for No Auto Durk, the pair plastered billboards in Chicago during All-Star Weekend to make the announcement official.
The latest teaser for new music from Metro arrived a few days after his criticism towards new music coming out, although, to his credit, he admitted old age might play a factor in his disdain towards some of the recent things he's heard in the game. Either way, new Metro is officially on the way and we couldn't be any more excited.
