With each new week, we've been blessed to receive some incredible new musical contributions. It seems like the quarantine was beneficial to most artists, giving them enough free time at home to complete projects that were on the backburner.
Out of absolutely nowhere, Future announced that his new album, High Off Life, would be out and last week, he delivered. With over twenty new songs and tons of replay value so far, the project has earned a number of selections on this week's update of the staff-curated TIDAL Wave playlist. In fact, I would go so far as to say he completely dominated this week.
Each staff member at HotNewHipHop shares a different music taste. Some of us rock with a more lyrical style of rap while others vibe heavier with production-based trap songs. It seems as though, no matter your preference, Future was a hit at our (presently unoccupied) headquarters. We've included several tracks from the new album, including "Solitaires" with Travis Scott, "Trillionaire" with Youngboy Never Broke Again, "Ridin Strikers," "Trapped In The Sun," and more on the playlist this week.
Elsewhere on the list, we've got the new singles from Lil Keed, Gunna, Gunplay (with Rick Ross), Chloe x Halle, and more.

Slowthai Opens Up About His Deepest Insecurities In Lengthy Post
Slowthai shares devastating message with his fans.
Social media has largely served as a tool for people to project idealized personas into the world. The pendulum then swung in the opposite direction with people turning to these platforms to broadcast their most intimate thoughts. It can be viewed as a vicious cycle. Our constant subjection to scrutiny by others often leads us to turn to those same people the same outlets to confess our discomfort with the whole situation. In a way, this dynamic is on display in UK rapper Slowthai’s latest Instagram post.
He shared a masked photo of himself and penned a lengthy caption that details his most troublesome insecurities and anxieties. He wrote:
“I often laugh when I feel anxious, this awkward laughter, only shows how uncomfortable I feel. I’ve always been socially awkward and found it hard to articulate to people how I truly feel, often lie. Sometimes it’s harder to stay quiet then force conversation and it makes my skin crawl. I build myself up from pieces of other people and when I look in the mirror I shiver cause I feel like I’m wearing somebody elses skin. I’ve never felt happy being on my own and this has caused me to have a dependency. A need to be loved or made to feel as if I should be loved, maybe I search for all the right things in the wrong places. But am I wrong for wanting to belong. Lazy. I live under a rock clinging on to gratification. I trick myself into liking the things I hate and hating the things I love. I’ve never known what’s best for me. And I never felt content with the life I lead. I think about the end every night. But I’m too afraid to say goodbye. ADHD all I want is your undivided attention. The what ifs. I’m selfish and I never cared for sharing. If I was gone would they remember me and would they hurt as I hurt. I’m trying to learn to confine in myself cause I can’t explain why I feel these things. Even though I laugh, I ask what’s funny.”
Slowthai Kicked Out Of NME Awards: Watch
Slowthai was kicked out of the NME Awards after confronting an audience member who booed him for how he behaved with one of the hosts, Kathryn Ryan.
Slowthai got a little too comfortable with one of the hosts at the NME Awards and got kicked out after confronting an audience member for booing his actions. After dropping his debut album, Nothing Great About Britain, last May, the U.K.-born rapper has become known for his outrageous antics. He's recently been gaining greater recognition in the United States after his ostentatious performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon earlier this month.
The NME Awards, which were held at the O2 Academy in Brixton on Wednesday evening, honoured the artist with the Hero of the Year Award, but the moment didn't go quite as planned.
Slowthai took the stage to accept the award from the night's hosts, comedian Katherine Ryan and Beats 1 presenter Julie Adenuga. However, slowthai's questionable comments toward Katherine as well as his invasion of her personal space rubbed audience members the wrong way.

Things started to go downhill when, later on in the evening, slowthai directly called out an audience member for booing him and "ruining [his] speech" while he was accepting his award. That same audience member called him a "wasteman" which prompted others in attendance to throw drinks (and even a microphone) toward the stage. Slowthai threw his drink right back before jumping into the crowd to confront the person in question. Security intervened and slowthai was removed from the premises.
Many were quick to stand up for Katherine Ryan after it appeared that she had been sexually harassed by the Brit, but the comedian took to Twitter to clear things up.
Responding to a user who condemned slowthai's actions and came to her defense, Katherine tweet, "He didn’t make me uncomfortable. This is why we need women in positions of power. I knew he had lost from the moment he opened his mouth like any heckler coming up against a COMIC - not a woman - a COMIC. I was operating 2/10. What a sweet boy. I defused it. Tonight was fun!" Thursday morning, Slowthai took to Twitter to address the situation as well, asking the NME Awards to give his award to Katherine.
"@nme please forward my award to @kathbum for she is the hero of the year," he tweeted. "What started as a joke between us escalated to a point of shameful actions on my part. i want to unreservedly apologise, there is no excuse and I am sorry. i am not a hero...katherine, you are a master at your craft and next time i’ll take my seat and leave the comedy to you. to any woman or man who saw a reflection of situations they’ve been in in those videos, i am sorry. i promise to do better. let’s talk here." Katherine responded, letting him know there was no bad blood between them.
