This was not an ordinary week. We won't pretend as though it was. There is a revolution happening outside and, although we would love to solely focus on music and the regular hip-hop news, that's not entirely appropriate right now.

We have made an effort across our editorial staff to bring you news from the protests in addition to some hip-hop news. This week, labels and artists decided to push back their releases and, although there was still some new music released today, it was to a much lesser degree than what was expected.

This is a loaded week for the TIDAL Wave playlist. Each week, our staff mulls over the hottest tracks to have released within the last month and, damn, we had a good time these last seven days. 

A ton of high-profile records saw the light of day, including an entire Drake mixtape (!!!) called the Dark Lane Demo Tapes. A handful of selections from that were chosen for this week's update, in addition to some brand new female rap match-ups. Megan Thee Stallion is vying to go #1 with her Beyoncé-assisted "Savage" remix but Doja Cat and Nicki Minaj are also trying to hit that point with the official "Say So" remix. Both of those have been highlighted on TIDAL Wave.

We've also got new music from Lil Baby, Smoove'L, Jackboy, O.T. Genasis, and more. On the R&B side of things, we're keeping you chill with songs from JoJo, Kehlani, Mahalia, Leven Kali, and, you guessed it, Drake.

The next month is already loaded with tons of exciting new releases as Chris Brown and Young Thugplot out their collaborative mixtape. Another solid week for hip-hop releases is behind us, with a number of high-profile artists releasing new singles. Every seven days, we update our TIDAL-exclusive playlist with our team's favorite recent drops and, this time around, we're kicking things off with the first official single from THE SCOTTS, a new group formed by Travis Scott and Kid Cudi.

Premiering the track during his record-breaking experience on Fortnite, Travis Scott's new single with Kid Cudi titled "THE SCOTTS" is expected to debut on the Billboard Hot 100 at #1. For that reason, it is the first song on TIDAL Wave. 

Right when the synths stop, Lil Uzi Vert's new single "Sasuke" blesses us before the new efforts by Lil Baby ("All In"), Lil Durk ("Viral Moment"), and more. Juice WRLD's first posthumous release "Righteous" also earns placement in this week's list.

It's been a pretty great year so far as music pertains. Everything else has been proper garbage but hey, at least we've got some good new music. And it's consistent too. Every week, we've seen some of the industry's heavy hitters drop off either a new album, a single, or a project in between. Last week was no different.

In the last seven days, we saw releases from DaBaby, Westside Gunn, a new single from Playboi Carti, a 4/20 release from Wiz Khalifa, and more. That's pretty special if you ask me. All of those are represented on the brand new update of our TIDAL-exclusive staff-curated playlist TIDAL Wave.

Things are picking up again with Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert both seemingly preparing new releases next week. As we wait for those to arrive, as well as the new Westside Gunn project coming tonight, we look back on what was another solid week for new releases.

Despite all the bullshit, it was a pretty solid week for new music releases. That remains one of the only constants in our weird world today, with career-defining bodies of work arriving from both The Weeknd and Donald Glover (as Childish Gambino). The two artists had long been silent on the drop front but, last week, they both blessed us with After Hours and 3.15.20 respectively. Out of absolutely nowhere, Lil Uzi Vert shocked the world when he released Eternal Atake last week. The album had been rumoured for the following week but we were all getting tired of waiting and, apparently, so was Uzi. Without much notice, the project was uploaded to streaming services and, ever since its arrival, we've been bumping it heavily. It should come as no surprise that this week's staff-curated TIDAL-exclusive playlist features a shit-ton of Uzi songs, as well as choice selections from Lil Baby, Megan Thee Stallion, Lil Yachty, and more.

Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke was representative of a movement that is picking up traction extraordinarily quickly in his hometown. The 20-year-old star was seen as one of the leaders of modern Brooklyn drill and, while he will be remembered for much more than just that, his music will live on forever, reminding us of the potential that Poppy had. He was killed early this morning after four masked men broke into the Hollywood Hills house he was renting, marking yet another instance where the hip-hop community is forced to mourn one of their young up-and-comers. Each week, our staff mulls over all of the new releases to create the TIDAL-exclusive TIDAL Wave playlist and, especially for this edition, we're featuring a number of songs by the late Brooklyn star.

Dropping his new album Meet The Woo 2 just a few days ago, Pop Smoke debuted to much acclaim on the Billboard 200. We have included a handful of his project standouts, including "Sweetheart," "Mannequin" and more to the playlist this week. Rest in peace, Pop Smoke.
