WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin has announced that he will be returning to Monday Night Raw on March 16th in celebration of WWE's 3:16 Day. It has not yet been revealed what the Texas Rattlesnake will be doing on the show, but we expect him to deliver an electric promo, crush cans of his Broken Skull IPA and hopefully, dish out a few stunners.
The official WWE Preview for the 3:16 Day reads:
"The WWE Universe will be able to recognize the greatness of The Texas Rattlesnake with content, new merchandise and more throughout #316Day. WWE Network will stream a marathon of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin programming, including an all-new episode of “Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions” featuring an in-depth interview with WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart. #316Day will also feature the release of exclusive Austin 3:16 merchandise will also be available on WWE Shop.com, a special Topps Austin 3:16 digital card set, and custom content across WWE’s global and social media platforms celebrating Austin’s legendary career."
The last time Austin appeared on WWE television was on the September 9th episode of Monday Night Raw, when he set up the Universal Championship Match contract signing between Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman, and ended up hitting AJ Styles with a stunner that tore the roof off Madison Square Garden.
The landscape of the WWE has shifted a lot since then (Styles is currently in line for a Wrestlemania match with The Undertaker) so it will be interesting to see which superstars Stone Cold mixes it up when he returns to Raw at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh on 3/16.
WWE’s Kurt Angle Gives His Mount Rushmore Of Pro Wrestlers
Angle explains why Brock doesn't make the cut.
WWE Hall of Famer and Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle has a ton of respect for WWE Champion Brock Lesnar, but that doesn't mean The Beast Incarnate is worthy of a spot on Angle's "Mount Rushmore" of professional wrestlers.
During a recent interview with The Sun, Angle explained the criteria for making his list, and had this to say about Brock, specifically.
“I think it’s because he’s not a guy… he’s a man of very few words. He goes in that ring and performs as good, if not better, than anyone in the world but in sports entertainment you have got to have something behind that.”
“If you are talking about the Mount Rushmore then you are talking about the overall entertainment - how people get wowed and what they say to people and to the fans and how they pertain themselves in their character."
Considering the value that Angle places on the entertainment aspect of professional wrestling, in addition to each wrestler's ability to perform in the ring, there shouldn't be any issues with his Top 4 of all-time.
"A guy like Shawn Michaels would be on the Mount Rushmore, Ric Flair would be on Mount Rushmore," Angle tells The Sun. "I don't see Brock as an overall athlete that would be up there. But don't get me wrong, what he does in the ring, no-one does better."
“Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. I would never put myself up there, it’s just not who I am. I imagine some people do but when I think about Mount Rushmore I don’t think of myself.”
There's always room for debate with any Mount Rushmore, but you won't catch me campaigning to remove Flair, HBK, The Rock or Stone Cold from any such list.
Damian Lillard Nods To Stone Cold Steve Austin With New Adidas Dame 6
And that's the bottomline, 'cause Dame Dolla said so.
Portland Trail Blazers All-NBA point guard Damian Lillard is an avid WWE fan, so it's only right that he and Adidas pay homage to one of his favorite WWE superstars with a special colorway of the Adidas Dame 6.
Dubbed the "Dame 3:16," the kicks come equipped with a black upper accompanied by blue accents as a nod to Stone Cold Steve Austin's signature vest and denim shorts. Additional details include gold detailing, referencing The Rattlesnake's championship titles over the years, and "DAME 3:16" text on the midsole.
Lillard's latest signature silhouette is highlighted by Adidas' ultra lightweight Lightstrike cushioning, which has made its appearance in Dame's sneaker series for the first time.
Per Adidas:
“The silhouette embodies Dame’s multi-dimensional persona from both sides of the shoe. The outside speaks to Dame’s focus, while the interior peels back the layers to showcase the inner workings of the shoe and celebrates Dame’s ruthless mindset on the court.”
Reports suggest that the Adidas Dame 6 "Dame 3:16" will drop on January 25, but Hibbett Sports currently has the kicks scheduled for a January 18 release. Men's sizes will retail for $110, with kid's pairs checking in at $90. Stay tuned for updates as we approach the release.
