Target CEO Stands In Solidarity With Minneapolis Protesters
The CEO of Target speaks after a Twin Cities location went up in flames during the riots.
To those who’ve been critical of the protesters who are looting and burning down Targets — please, shut up. The CEO of Target has officially issued a statement in response to the nationwide protests in the wake of the recent murders of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and Geoge Floyd. The CEO, Brian Cornell, penned an open letter in support of the protesters and communities across America that are constantly dealing with police brutality.
“We are a community in pain. That pain is not unique to the Twin Cities—it extends across America. The murder of George Floyd has unleashed the pent-up pain of years, as have the killings of Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. We say their names and hold a too-long list of others in our hearts. As a Target team, we’ve huddled, we’ve consoled, we’ve witnessed horrific scenes similar to what’s playing out now and wept that not enough is changing. And as a team we’ve vowed to face pain with purpose,” reads the letter.
Cornell and the Target team are putting their money where this mouth is as well. They’ve prepared truckloads of first aid equipment and medicine, bottled water, and other essentials to provide necessary supplies during this time.
Cornell also said that they will also be providing full pay and benefits for their employees at the Minneapolis location.
“We’ll continue to invest in this vibrant crossroads of the Seward, Longfellow, Phillips and Powderhorn communities, preserving jobs and economic opportunity by rebuilding and bringing back the store that has served as a community resource since 1976. In any of our other locations that are damaged or at risk, the safety and well-being of our team, guests and the surrounding community will continue to be our paramount priority,” it reads. “Target leaders are assembling community members, partners and local officials to help identify what more we can do together and what resources are required to help families, starting right here in Minnesota.”

In another lengthy message, she added, ‘My mom is a ‘Karen’ (married to a Black man with two biracial kids) therefore she deserved what happened to her, and is the reason the authorities took a certain someone to jail based purely upon video footage?” She concluded her message by saying that she loves her mother and wished her matriarch well with surgery. Tori Brixx speaks on her recent arrest for allegedly assaulting a woman in a Los Angeles Target parking lot.
This quarantine has nerves on edge. A trip to Target turned into a physical altercation between Tori Brixx, fiancé to Rich The Kid, and a random woman. According to reports by the woman’s daughter, Tori Brixx assaulted her mother for no reason at all. What caused the argument is up for debate, but it didn’t take long for the verbal spat to turn into something else altogether.

In a series of videos that were shared online, one of Brixx’s friends can be heard saying that the woman pushed her cart into the model, thereby instigating the fight. After leaving the store, they continued their battle in the parking lot where the mention of vehicular manslaughter could be heard after somebody threatened to run the other over.
As of right now, the specifics of this situation are unclear. Tori Brixx has not commented on the fight and, until she does, we likely will not have any further information.

Honey Pot Founder Targeted For "Racist" TV Ad
Honey Pot founder, Beatrice Dixon, is under fire for her supposedly "racist" Target television commercial.
The Black-owned business, Honey Pot, has been receiving a lot of backlash for their allegedly "racist" Target television commercial. The plant-based feminine care company started by Beatrice Dixon has partnered with Target to provide women with a line of all-natural feminine hygiene products that have been flying off the shelves since the brand's launch in 2014. While the brand has grown tremendously over the past half-decade, the white consumer base didn't take too kindly to Dixon's comments in their latest television ad.
In the commercial, an excited Dixon walks through a Target retail store to view her products displayed on the shelves. Towards the end of the advertisement, the self-made entrepreneur says, "The reason why it’s so important for Honey Pot to do well is so that the next black girl that comes up with a great idea, she can have a better opportunity," she said. "That means a lot to me."
While Dixon was just being honest in her assessment of her own brand, some white people didn't appreciate that she specifically wanted to encourage young women of color to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams. After trending on the internet for multiple days, Beatrice Dixon stopped by Power 105.1's The Breakfast Club on Thursday (Feb. 5 ) to discuss the recent backlash she's been facing from a small sector of the white community.
During the interview, Dixon explained why she made that comment specifically stating:
"My reasoning for saying that is because of the disparities that are happening in the venture capital world. We get less than 1% of funding—we get 0.06% of funding. I’m one of only 50 black women that have raised more than a million dollars. Think about that. … If we are not selling businesses, we are not scaling businesses, black wealth can literally die. That’s the reason why we have to be successful."
Dixon continued to defend her comments saying:
"A lot has happened... We’ve been inundated with emails, we’ve been inundated with social media posts, bad reviews but not on the product. (White people) said that I was racist—and guess what? That’s their opinion. I know I’m not racist. … They called for their people not to buy [Honey Pot] and support it. We didn’t even really have to say much because our beloved customers formed like Voltron and just got in there. Not only did they reverse like a one-and-a-half, two-and-a-half star on Trustpilot, but it went to like 4.9 stars. The shelves have just been ravished. Everything’s poppin’ online and everywhere else."
While Honey Pot continues to sky-rocket in terms of global sales, this particular outrage will soon be irrelevant as Dixon and her company continues to provide women with the hygiene necessities that have become highly-coveted over the years. Trump Administration’s Travel Ban Expansion Criticized For Targeting African Countries
The travel ban now includes six new countries.
The notorious travel ban enacted by the Trump administration has now been expanded, CNN reports, to include six additional countries. Immigration restrictions will be imposed on Nigeria, Eritrea, Tanzania, Sudan, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar (known as Burma), excluding immigrants who have been of service to the United States. This amendment has caused similar backlash as the initial travel ban signed three years ago, which was heavily perceived as Trump’s efforts to ban Muslims from the U.S. In the same vein, many see the addition of these mostly African countries as a discriminatory measure. However, the White House maintains that the travel ban is essential to the upkeep of national security.

After the Trump admin went to the Supreme Court in 2018, the third iteration of the travel ban was upheld after previous versions were challenged in court. The current policy prevents seven countries from entry to varying degrees: Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela, and North Korea. Chad was taken off the list last April due to its enhancement in security measures. Unlike the original ban, this new adjustment only includes categories of immigration visa applicants. While only green card lotteries will be restricted from Sudan and Tanzania, all immigrants from Burma, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan and Nigeria will be banned from the U.S. The updates to this policy were made in the wake of the U.S.’s efforts to deal with the Coronavirus outbreak in China. The White House announced on Friday that foreign nationals who have traveled through China in the last 14 days would be denied entry to the country.
The Game Thinks YG Was Intentionally Targeted By Police Before Grammys
Is the LAPD trying to sabotage the Grammy's Nipsey tribute?
YG was arrested early Friday morning under what he and his team are framing as questionable pretence. Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies showed up to YG's doorstep with both a search warrant and arrest warrant related to a robbery case. After searching his San Fernando home, the Compton rapper was placed under arrest. "This arrest is one that caught YG completely off guard because there is no truth to them," said YG's lawyer, Joe Tacopina. "YG has no idea what investigators are talking about and we have not been provided with any details ... we are learning about this case through the media."
It has been reported that YG was released on bond on Friday evening, but it has not been revealed yet whether he will be permitted to participate in the Grammy's Nipsey Hussle tribute on Sunday night. Earlier this week, it was announced that YG would be taking the stage alongside John Legend, DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch and Kirk Franklin to honour the departed rapper. Since YG's arraignment is only scheduled to occur on Tuesday, it remains unclear whether his arrest will interfere with his ability to perform.
The Game took to Twitter to express his suspicions that police intentionally targeted YG to sabotage the Grammy tribute. He wrote: "Funny how @YG gets arrested the weekend of the Grammy’s when he’s supposed to hit the stage in Nip’s honor. #LAPDtheBiggestGangHere." The Game also shared this theory with TMZ when they spoke to him outside LA's Derriere nightclub, where he was celebrating the release of Megan Thee Stallion's new single. “They know that YG was supposed to be on the Grammys,” he said. “The Grammys gave ni**as an opportunity to put on for Nip and of course the LAPD, they gon’ come through and hate. Wake a man up after he been through everything he been through at 4 a.m. in the morning taking him to jail when he excelling in life. That shit trash.”
