Tekashi 6ix9ine may have gotten off easy in the federal case against him and the Nine Trey Bloods but his legal troubles are far from over. As lawsuits continue to pile on for 6ix9ine’s poor business practices, he’s facing a brand new federal suit after being accused of ripping off the Bobby Shmurda-assisted banger, “STOOPID.”

According to The Blast, Yung Gordon has filed a lawsuit against 6ix9ine, Tay Keith, Create Music Group for copyright infringement over the hit single. Per the suit, Gordon claims Take Money Promotions reached out to him Instagram requesting a for a radio drop which is defined in the documents as “a short clip of music that is played on the radio. Often artists record drops for radio shows to promote their affiliation with a radio station or promoter.”

Now, many may have wondered about the intro to the song, “STOOPID” which opens up with a drop of someone yelling, “Y’all already know, it be the boy Yung Gordon / You rockin’ with Take Money Promotions / Ay Take Money Promotions / Give ’em that new sh-t, no fool sh- t/ Oh Yeah, let’s go.” Many wondered where they came from but Yung Gordon has now claimed the tag. He said he never gave 6ix9ine permission to use the drop. Per the suit, ” “Stoopid” opens with a recording of the Drop written and performed by the Plaintiff. (While the Drop has been removed from the “Stoopid” track that is currently available on Spotify, upon information and belief it remains on all other versions of “Stoopid” that are currently streaming or available for sale.)”

Yung Gordon is suing for an injunction preventing 6ix9ine from profiting off of the song as well as unspecified damages. 

Did I think I was going to be starting out my Monday morning by stitching together photos of Kylie Jenner and Moneybagg Yo? No, but I embrace the unexpected. Mind you, there’s nothing too surprising about Kylie posting on social media with some hot new hip hop playing in the background. There have been several cases of her offering seemingly free promo to rappers. Whether she’s paid or not, you can be assured that a sizable faction of her 157 million Instagram followers are going to take interest in whatever song she’s jamming to and head over to their preferred streaming service to save it. 

Most recently, these followers were just put on to Moneybagg Yo’s single, “U Played”, which features Lil Baby and is produced by Tay Keith. In an Instagram story, Kylie is seen bumping Moneybagg as she rides around with friends. The video was taken the same evening that Kylie went to a Rosalía concert and flaunted her love affair with the Spanish singer backstage. 

“U Played” appears on Moneybagg’s new project that dropped this past Friday, entitled Time Served. The project came as a surprise, as Moneybagg’s new boo, Ari Fletcher, announced it just a few days before its release. Things have been heating up quickly for the couple, as Moneybagg has already vowed to stand by Ari forever. 

The first few weeks of the new year can often be dry in terms of music releases. People are laying low after the holidays and artists allow things to simmer down before they started flooding their fans with new material. Everyone wants a fresh restart and when you drop right at the top of the new year, it can become entangled with the prior year’s timeline. That’s why a gap in music releases could be beneficial for both the artist and consumer. That being said, there weren’t that many new songs for us to add to our “FIRE EMOJI” playlist this week. However, we certainly appreciate all the artists that came out the gates swinging and ready to conquer this decade. 

It comes as no surprise that Mick Jenkins is among this faction, as he has quietly been one of the hardest working rappers since he stepped on the scene. The Chicago native has been acclaimed for his lyrical prowess and has established a loyal fanbase on the fringes. He keeps these fans steadily fed with loosies, mixtapes and albums. He continues this habit this week by dropping “Carefree”, the first single off his album Circus, which arrives next week. Mick spits over a dreamy, sputtering beat from Detroit producer, Black Milk. 

Some more characters that will remain prominent in 2020 are Moneybagg Yo, Lil Baby and Tay Keith. These three joined forces to gift us with “U Played”, which is easily the hardest hitting track among this week’s “FIRE EMOJI” additions. To quote Drake, Tay Keith’s beat was definitely too hard. 

Last, but not least, we have a new song from Quando Rondo, featuring A Boogie Wit da Hoodie and 2 Chainz. In case you weren’t sold that he’s going to be a force in 2020, he came through to prove it. He impressed many with From The Neighborhood To The Stage and he’s been keeping that momentum going with a string of singles. 

These new tracks have us optimistic about the state of hip hop in 2020. You expecting good things?
