Elon Musk sparked outrage after expressing his views on the current restrictions placed in Alameda County in California where the Tesla HQ is located. Over the weekend, Elon Musk touched Twitter with a hot take on the current social distancing rules and how they've not just impacted all businesses across the state but his business specifically.
"Tesla is filing a lawsuit against Alameda County immediately. The unelected & ignorant “Interim Health Officer” of Alameda is acting contrary to the Governor, the President, our Constitutional freedoms & just plain common sense," he wrote on Twitter in response to the extension of social distancing rules until June 1st.
"Frankly, this is the final straw," he added in a separate tweet. "Tesla will now move its HQ and future programs to Texas/Nevada immediately. If we even retain Fremont manufacturing activity at all, it will be dependent on how Tesla is treated in the future. Tesla is the last carmaker left in CA."
Tesla was forced to close down their factory on March 23rd. Musk has been vehemently against the stay-at-home orders, especially towards the end of April when quarterly earnings statements were released. But a rep for the county's health department revealed they were devising a plan with Tesla. “We look forward to coming to an agreement on an appropriate safety plan very soon,” the statement said. “It is our collective responsibility to move through the phases of reopening and loosening the restrictions of the shelter-in-place order in the safest way possible, guided by data and science."

Coachella Responds To Elon Musk’s Jab By Citing Jaden Smith Performance
Coachella swiftly shuts down Elon Musk's claim that the festival sucks now because of corporate sponsorship.
Coronavirus-related health concerns are wreaking havoc across the globe and the important question that remains up in the air is: Is Coachella still going to happen this year? Instagram influencers and Frank Ocean fans are in shambles as the possibility looms that the music festival will be cancelled. It seems Coachella is too crucial to be shut down entirely though, as rumors are circulating that it will simply be moved from April to October. While ticket-holders rejoice that they will still get the chance to take photos of their fits at the hottest music event of the year, Elon Musk believes Coachella should be cancelled altogether due to it "sucking."
Amid all the speculation regarding the festival's fate, Musk tweeted, "Coachella should postpone itself until it stops sucking." He then explained his stance in follow-up tweets: "Too much corporate sponsorship killed the vibe... Was good maybe 5 or 6 years ago when you could [wander] around & find great unknown bands."
While it goes without saying that the tech mogul is far from anti-capitalist king, Coachella's official Twitter account decided to call out Musk's hypocrisy. Coachella replied to Musk's criticism with a photo of Jaden Smith standing atop a floating Tesla Model X during his set at that very festival last year. To drive home how swiftly Musk got shut down, Coachella simply captioned the photo, "lol". People may not have ran from Jaden's performance to the nearest Tesla dealership, but the photo speaks volumes. Even Musk felt the need to concede: "Ok fine, that was good haha."
Jaden then chimed in with a message that tried to bring reconciliation in a time of fear and divisiveness: ":) @elonmusk I Love You @coachella I Love You."
Driver In Fatal Tesla Crash Was Playing Video Games
Two years ago, a 2017 Tesla Model X sped directly into a concrete barrier on a Silicon Valley freeway and now, earlier this week, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has determined that the man behind the wheel of the vehicle was playing video games at the time of the accident. While Elon Musk has been installing speech features into his later models and hiring employees without degree requirements, his semi-autonomous vehicles have become somewhat of a danger to society due to people’s reliance on the vehicle’s self-piloting feature.

According to NBC Bay Area, Walter Huang was commuting to his engineering gig at Apple on March 23, 2018, when he activated the ‘autopilot’ feature on his 2017 Tesla Model X. After investigating the accident thoroughly, the National Transportation Safety Board gathered the cell phone records and data received from Huang’s phone which revealed that a gaming app was in use during the time of the crash on Highway 101.
Robert Sumwalt revealed to The Verge the NTSB’s findings, stating:
“The Tesla car log data showed that there was no driver-applying steering wheel torque, indicating the hands were likely off the steering wheel during this time period.” He continued, “In this crash, we saw an over-reliance on technology, we saw distraction, we saw a lack of policy prohibiting cell phone use while driving, and we saw infrastructure failures, which, when combined, led to this tragic loss.”
NTSB’s report also revealed that the Model X’s forward-collision warning system failed to warn Huang of an upcoming barrier. Sumwalt also blames Sumwalt California’s transportation department after discovering that the barrier was damaged in an accident 11 days prior to the incident involving Huang.
Sumwalt then took aim at Tesla stating:
“We urge Tesla to continue to work on improving their Autopilot technology and for NHTSA to fulfill its oversight responsibility to ensure that corrective action is taken where necessary. It’s time to stop enabling drivers in any partially automated vehicle to pretend that they have driverless cars.”
The NTSB chairman then went on to reveal that the Board had urged Tesla to look further into their vehicle automation systems earlier, saying:
“We ask that recommendation recipients respond to us within 90 days. That’s all we ask. But it’s been 881 days since these recommendations were sent to Tesla and we’ve heard nothing. We’re still waiting.”
While Walter Huang is at fault for treating his Tesla like a self-driving car, the National Transportation Safety Board believes that if Tesla doesn’t adjust their autopilot features in the future, we’ll see the death toll rapidly rise from autonomous vehicle incidents. Elon Musk Hiring For Tesla With No Degree Required
Elon Musk is hiring.
If you don’t have a high school diploma, but somehow have a firm grasp on how AI works, this might be the job for you.
On February 2, Elon Musk tweeted that he was looking to hire some new people for his Tesla artificial intelligence team. Curious about the post, fans on twitter inquired if a certain educational degree would be necessary to apply for this position. Elon responded that a college degree or even a high school diploma is not necessary, he is moreso looking for those who can demonstrate a “deep understanding” of artificial intelligence. Despite not being required to have a degree, all candidates must pass a hardcore coding test.

Musk has previously expressed his opinions on how he feels education is unimportant. Back in a 2014 interview with Auto Bild, Musk states, “there’s no need even to have a college degree at all, or even high school.” Musk instead looks for those who have an exceptional track record of experience.
Tesla is currently looking for artificial intelligence talent to help with the company’s self-driving vehicle aspirations. The CEO of SpaceX is looking for these new recruits to work in Austin, Texas or the San Francisco Bay area but they could potentially be placed in any Tesla Gigafactory. Musk also tweeted the same day that he will be hosting a “super fun” party with the AI and autopilot team in about four weeks time, and invitations will be sent out soon.
Aside from new jobs and education, Elon Musk and pop star Grimes are expecting their first child together. Congrats to the couple!
Elon Musk Reveals British Talking Tesla: "Don’t Just Stand There Staring, Hop In"
The talking Tesla will be a thing of the future.
Elon Musk and the team behind his automotive production company, Tesla has continuously been experimenting with the capabilities of the human/vehicle driving experience. From self-driving vehicles, changing how the general public views trucks, and underground speed tunnels, Elon Musk is innovating how we view travel. His latest endeavor in vehicle experimentation involves future Tesla models with the ability to communicate with nearby pedestrians located outside of the electric-powered cars.
In a video shared on his Twitter account, a red Tesla Model 3 vehicle can be seen strolling a parking lot audibly stating, "But don’t just stand there staring, hop in. I didn't practice that expression long."
According to the UK-based publication Electrek, Tesla upgraded the front-end of the Model 3 to include a speaker located behind the vehicle's grill. The external speaker will allow operators to communicate with surrounding foot-travelers without the driver having to roll down their windows and verbally communicate with people passing by.
Elon Musk and Tesla have yet to reveal how this new tech will be applied and operated by their consumer base of yet, but the innovative car company does plan on incorporating an automated external speech widget into all of their future models. Check out the clip of the Tesla Model 3 speaking in the video provided below.
