Joe Rogan has been keeping the content coming in almost every day, while fans await his move from YouTube to Spotify come September. For now, it’s all YouTube. The podcast host and UFC commentator welcomed Honey Honey, a pair of musicians who are past podcast guests, to discuss all things life in an epic four-hour conversation.

Rogan discusses the usual gamut of subjects with Suzanne Santo and Ben Jaffe, namely, everything that’s happening in the world right now. That means, a lot of discussion around politics, Trump’s various missteps– including the Bible photo op he had the other week— as well as who else might be able to fill the role of President.

The conversation begins with The Rock. Rogan advocates for The Rock at first, before later suggesting Killer Mike. “The Rock for president,” he starts, “Step in, step in. I saw your Instagram, my brother, listen, you could do it, I vote for you, no one’s going to fuck with You. You are America, by the way.”

Rogan continued to enumerate The Rock’s qualities: “And he’s a super nice guy, legitimately super nice, incredibly ambitious. He is the American dream, he came up from poverty. He epitomizes hard work.” 

However, as the conversation takes a turn, Rogan has a sudden thought: “Killer Mike, how about Killer Mike for President?” Joe Rogan adds, “He could be president, no bullshit. 100%.”

Joe Rogan enlisted Reggie Watts as a guest on his most recent podcast, the first since the protests really started to take off on Friday and over the weekend– thus his fanbase readily anticipating what the podcast behemoth might say on the turmoil across America right now, in the wake of George Floyd’s death.

For two and a half hours, Joe Rogan and Reggie Watts weave in and out of topics, with everything from the protests to politics to cars. As far as responses to George Floyd’s death and the protests around the nation, Rogan brings up the mysterious palettes bricks that have reportedly been popping around the States, questioning why in the world they’re there.

“Have you seen these bricks?” he asks Reggie. “These organized stacks of bricks? Who is putting that? Is it ANTIFA, is it the cops? Is it someone who wants them to throw bricks so they can impart Marshall Law? What is it? These are bricks that are appearing that don’t have a reason to be there.”

“And my left wing friends think it’s right wing people that are agent provocateurs that are trying to start this chaotic scene so that the military can be called in,” Rogan continued. “Agent provocateurs have been used since the beginning of time. Hitler did that […] Nero burned Rome.”

As far as Trump’s response to the protest, threatening Americans with the use of vicious dogs and ominous weapons, Rogan says:

“Trump talks about using dogs, using the most vicious dogs– it’s such a foolish way of communicating in times of crisis, and that’s what’s dangerous. Some people are really good in times of crisis, like Obama was very good in times of crisis. Even George W., George W. gave a speech after 9/11 that made everyone love him.” He added, “You don’t get that feeling with Trump at all.”

“He’s just in his own feedback loop. Whatever he can do to make himself feel good, he’ll do it. He only understands caveman principles […] but he doesn’t believe in himself,” Reggie said in response.

Before the podcast wraps up, Rogan also points out what many have already pointed out social media, with a poignant side-by-side image of Colin Kaepernick kneeling as a form of protest, and Derek Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd’s neck– killing him. 

“How ironic is it, that Colin Kaepernick took all this shit for kneeling at the Super Bowl, and this fucking guy kneels on this guy’s neck and proves the point – kills the guy, by doing the very thing that Colin Kaepernick was criticized for,” Rogan says.

“…Doing it to a Black guy and killing him. It’s kinda fucking crazy. It’s sort of symbolic about like, look, this is what they’re talking about. This is the thing, right here in front of your face.”

He hasn’t commented much about the accident that nearly took his life, but Kevin Hart opened up the harrowing incident on a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience. The celebrated comedian was involved in a single-vehicle car crash that left him unable to walk. After spinal surgeries and months of physical therapy, Kevin Hart is just getting back to feeling at 100 percent. When discussing the accident, he told Joe Rogan about the “biggest cry” he’d ever had in his life when returning home post-surgery.

“My biggest cry in life came from the first day that I came home from the hospital because I never had to see that house again,” he said. “Like there was an option of me never seeing that home again. There was an option of me never walking on that driveway again. There was an option of me never seeing my wife and my kids again.” As he struggled mentally, emotionally, and physically, Hart said he made sure to keep a smile on his face even though it contradicted how he was feeling.

“I lied in the hospital because I didn’t want them to know that I was having pain because I thought that they were gonna stop me from letting me continue to try my walks,” he said, adding that there was even a point where he couldn’t even “wipe [his] own ass.” He tried getting back on his feet without his walker just weeks after his surgery, but he believed he should have taken more time to recover.

“My son doubled as nurse, my daughter doubled as nurse, [my wife] Eniko doubled as it. My brother came,” he said. “That’s when the care about what was important really changed … The things that you think are important, you get to looking around at a hospital, almost four walls — none of that sh*t that you think is important is in there. The Brilliant Idiots have remained one of the most consistent podcasts, since their debut in 2014. They were just enough ahead of the podcast boom, and equally Charlamagne’s own success as a radio host with The Breakfast Club– with these two factors coming together and helping the podcast grow to the place it is right now. 

For the unfamiliar, the podcast is hosted by Charlamagne Tha God and New York-based comedian Andrew Schulz. It’s become a place where Charlamane can often vent and express views he may not have shared with Breakfast Club listeners, much like he did recently with his (reluctant) take on 6ix9ine. The two tend to discuss whatever is buzzing in pop culture at large week-to-week, so of course, one of the biggest topics of their latest episode centered around Joe Rogan’s exclusive distribution deal with Spotify.

In fact, they kick off the episode discussing the deal. “I just think that it’s brilliant that Spotify recognized top-tier talent and they invested in top-tier talent, and it’s brilliant on Joe Rogan because he didn’t have to do this,” Charlamagne said, before they dive into numbers speculation. “They said his lives shows, ad revenue, and what he makes off YouTube, his podcast, made $30 million […] so thats not something he had to do unless Spotify came with a life-changing number, which clearly they did. But that’s what you do when you’re investing in that kind of talent.”

As far as what they think Rogan is raking in with his Spotify deal, Charlamagne says, “I think that Joe Rogan upfront got $125-150 million, and i think on the backend, he probably stands to make another $150. I can’t see him getting any less than $125 [million] up front though.”

Schulz counters, “If he was getting $30 million a year, and it’s a 3-year deal it doesn’t make sense for him to do it for only $120 [million], because he was gunna make $90 [million] in that time, or the podcast could grow in that amount of time and he’s gunna make $120 [million]. I feel like it’s gotta be double what he would have made in those three years at that current rate, bare minimum. I feel like it’s gotta be at least $180 [million] and maybe over $200 mill with those incentives and stuff. I feel like it’s gotta be guaranteed $180 [million].”

Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience as it’s called, will soon be finding a new home. The podcast host has become a giant in the industry, and he does it all independently. He’s built a reputation on reliable, honest, and informed conversations whether it be with a fellow comedian or an expert in a field he knows nothing about– he somehow always seems to know enough to keep the conversation engaging. 

Now, with 8.41 million YouTube subscribers, Joe Rogan has made a big announcement. The comedian and host will be bringing his respected podcast to the Spotify, starting on September 1 2020. Rogan dropped off a little clip especially for the announcement, maintaining that the podcast itself will not change– he is not working for Spotify, and he will retain full control over JRE. However he has entered in an exclusive multi-year agreement with Spotify, for them to be able to host the podcast.

The video aspect of the Joe Rogan Experience will remain intact as well, as Spotify confirms you will still be able to access his videos. Everything will remain free and accessible.

By now, Tekashi 6ix9ine‘s name tends to ring bells no matter what walk of life and culture you come from– he’s really forged a name for himself within the mainstream dialect, even if it irks most within rap circles. Nonetheless, he has fans. Or, at the very least, he has people watching and assessing his every move since he was released from prison early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Today, 6ix9ine found himself embroiled in a Billboard beef, dragging Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber and more into it too.

In Rogan’s latest podcast episode with fellow comedian and writer Bridget Phetasy, the two enter a conversation about drastically differing cultures and opinions, and how YouTube plays a role in dictating what actually gets seen and what doesn’t. It began with a discussion on Alex Jones’ rather eccentric videos and topics, which infamously got him kicked off the YouTube platform. Rogan, of course, questions what Jones was doing content-wise that was so harmful.

He makes a leap, from there, to declare Tekashi 6ix9ine as the answer to uncoding and deciphering warring cultures–

“You know what’s the Rosetta Stone of the culture war? Tekashi 6ix9ine,” he states, before explaining further to his guest. “Because the rap culture has always been ‘no rats’; ‘snitches get stitches.’ That’s always been the culture. He is now the most popular rapper on earth, he has a video that he just released a few days ago, that, what is it now?” 

Rogan continues, “159 million views. And it’s terrible.” When prodded to explain why this makes him the Rosetta Stone, he responds:

“There’s no logic. There’s no logic to anything people are doing. If you try to look for logic in what’s popular, in human behaviour…This is the key to translating it – it’s all nonsense – he’s nonsense.” He adds, “The world is paying attention to this nonsense.”

Joe Rogan doesn’t usually hold his tongue. He usually speaks out on his beliefs, and when it comes to Jeffrey Epstein, he’s made his view on the matter abundantly clear by way of a series of memes and hashtags– namely– #JeffreyEpsteinDidntKillHimself. The hashtag has become commonplace across the internet in the wake of his death. If, for some reason you’re not up to speed– Epstein was a financier with connections to many a high and powerful people. He was reported to have supplied said high and powerful people with underage girls, resulting in sex trafficking charges.

He had already served time for soliciting an underage girl back in 2008, and was a registered sex offender when he was arrested last summer. About one month after his arrest, he was found dead in his jail cell in New York. Officials ruled it a suicide, however, Epstein’s brother (among many others) claim it a homicide. Epstein’s brother hired a pathologist who also concluded it was a more likely a homicide than a suicide– especially considering the amount of volatile information that Epstein had in regards to powerful figures, and a series of other missteps including the lack of camera footage.

Now that you’re up to speed– Joe Rogan’s recent guest, Adam Perry Lang, was actually a personal chef to Epstein at one point, as confirmed in unsealed court testimony. You would think then, that Rogan would have asked Lang a question or two about Epstein, but he didn’t touch the topic at all, much to the dismay of his listeners. Rogan’s comment section on YouTube has become filled with criticism about the lack of questioning around Epstein on Perry Lang, as well as his twitter page.

“This guy was Jeffery Epstein private chef and Joe is obsessed with him and there is no mention of Jeffery Epstein in this whole podcast ?,” one commenter on YouTube questioned. Another wrote, “Very dissapointed with Joe. This guy was Epstein’s personal chef and flew in the lolita express. Joe should have asked questions, like if he saw underaged girls there and WITH WHO. Joe not even asking 1 question about Epstein is the worse thing he could have done. Now this guy doesn’t get to either help clear up the story or clear his name and Joe comes off as complicit in a coverup.”

A twitter user responded to Joe, “No mention of his affiliation with Jeffrey Epstein? I refuse to believe Joe does not know of his ties to Epstein.” Many others echoed this similarly.

Instead, the two had a rather long conversation about steak and the restaurant business in the wake of COVID-19.

Two years ago, Chris D’Elia had a viral moment on twitter thanks to a spot-on Eminem impersonation. The comedian was already pretty well established at the time, but this clip of him rapping in the vein of Eminem‘s newest Kamikaze album (at the time) propelled his career even further, and gained him new fans.

Not only that, it resulted in more work for the comedian, as he was later recruited to take part in Logic’s music video for “Homicide,” a collaboration with Eminem that featured D’Elia’s parody attached to the end of it.

Now, a couple of years later, D’Elia dives back into the story to explain it in full while on Joe Rogan’s new podcast. Actually, this story is about Chris D’Elia almost shitting his pants on the way to meet Eminem for the first time– but he gets sidetracked along the way by Rogan so he can explain the story of how his little parody clip went viral.

Chris D’Elia begins, “I was at my old house, this was maybe two years ago at this point, and I was in the driveway, I don’t remember what I was doing but I was waiting for something. It had been right around the time of Eminem’s album, so he was on my mind. I was thinking about him and I was like this is how he raps. So I started doing it to the radio, and I was like oh this is funny, I’m gunna record it. And I recorded it one time– and i was like that’s funny, I’ll put it online. I put it online, and it got traction for me– it had a lot of hits for me, on my Instagram, I was like cool, great. And then like a month later, Black twitter took it..They didn’t know who I was but they were like, ‘this guy says this is how Eminem raps.’ And then it got millions of hits on twitter. Then it got so big, my buddy was like you think Eminem’s probably seen it right? I was like ‘maybe.'”

D’Elia continues, “And then a week or two later, my buddy texted me, like ‘bro, Eminem.’ I was like ‘what?’ He was like ‘You didn’t see? Check twitter.’ And I checked, and he was like, ‘I thought this was me.’ And I was like whaaattt?! If you told 20-year old me…And then he was like ‘I’m gunna rap battle Chris D’Elia one day’ and I was like, ‘am I in the hip-hop game now?!'” 

It didn’t end there, though, as D’Elia’s hip-hop connects kept flooding in: “And then Logic, the rapper, hit me up.”

D’Elia goes on to explain how his manager called him to tell him that Logic was planning a collaboration with Eminem, with D’Elia’s skit tacked on to the end. “I was like of course that’s okay! Don’t ask for any money just let him have it!,” he says. That collab eventually turned into a music video appearance for the comedian.

Joe Rogan has been ushering in the guests for his Joe Rogan Experience podcast despite the social distancing rules, and today, he’s revealed the extra precautions that he’s put into place because of COVID-19.

The prolific podcast host has given us several episodes on the topic of Coronavirus thus far, including a very interesting episode with guest Eric Weinstein as well as a couple with disease experts, like Peter Hotez and Michael Osterholm.

Today’s guest is not a disease expert, rather, a comedian and good friend to Rogan, Chris D’Elia. D’Elia’s recent comedy special, No Pain, is now streaming on Netflix, so the comedian is doing the little bit of promo that’s possible right now by visiting Rogan’s studio.

At the outset of the video, Rogan confirms that both he and D’Elia are Corona-free at the moment.

D’Elia jokes that the way he was able to get a test is because of Rogan, who apparently has a doctor lying in wait at the studio.

Rogan reveals, “I’ve been tested twice already, I got tested yesterday, and I tested two days before that.”

Rogan continued, “I’m testing everybody. So the way we’re doing this here, is when people come in to the podcast, test them first, keep the fuck away from them, and then give them a hug.”

“They’re saying that way more people have this than previously thought […] so the risk of hospitalization or death is way lower than they thought,” Rogan adds for a glimmer of optimism.

While day time and late night TV talk show hosts figure out how to maintain their production in self-isolation, Joe Rogan has just been doing his usual thing. The lone wolf podcaster is still inviting guests to his podcast man cave, including a few remote conversations. Yesterday’s guest, Lex Fridman, continued the conversation surrounding masks that was first started with guest Eric Weinstein, as we’ve been reporting.

In the episode with Eric Weinstein, the mathematician urged everyone to wear masks, pushing back at the CDC guidelines at the time. The CDC was not advising the general public to wear masks, but since that podcast aired, they’ve changed their tune.

On the website today, the CDC states “In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.” The “new evidence” they are referring to, as they explain, is the fact that “We now know from recent studies that a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (“asymptomatic”) and that even those who eventually develop symptoms (“pre-symptomatic”) can transmit the virus to others before showing symptoms.” We’ve seen reports about asymptomatic people for weeks now, but the CDC has proved slow to act despite the perhaps-obvious benefit one might assume there is from wearing a mask, thus angering people like Weinstein and Fridman.

On the new episode, Fridman, a research scientist at MIT, begins the podcast wearing his own homemade mask, advocating and explaining just how important masks are to slow the spread of the disease.

“Some questions– do homemade masks work? They’re effective for, to prevent me, if I’m infected asymptomatic, from spreading the infection to you. Your mask protects me, my mask protects you. The idea there is not, I’m not creating a wall from the rest of society.” Fridman explains, “There’s a bigger picture, I’m not allowing the infection to spread. Masks allow you to reduce the transmission rate from 1 to below 1, so allowing you to reduce the transmission rate while also allowing you to be in public.”

He adds later, “Masks are required to slow the spread of the infection. We need to get governors, our politicians to wear them. Trump to wear them.” 

Rogan responded, “Well, this is the Boris Johnson question, because that guy, not only was he not wearing masks but he was shaking hands. And now he’s in intensive care. If he dies, that will be the biggest wake up call for everyone. I hope he doesn’t die. God damn, people are so mean over there. I don’t know his policies…But some people hate him.”

The conversation soon turned to the upcoming UFC fight, with Rogan conceding that he has zero information as to where the fight will be taking place, and whether or not he himself will be going to provide his typical colourful commentary.

“I’m tryna figure out what I’m doing, if I’m going to it or not. I don’t even know if it’s in America. I literally don’t know, as of right now, I have no information,” Rogan told Fridman about the potential UFC on Dana White’s recently acquired private island. Fridman gives his approval for the fight to happen, viewing it as a step needed for society to know that things will go back to normal.

However Rogan added, “There’s no social distancing in a cage fight. If Tony Ferguson is fighting, there’s going to be blood, for sure. Everybody who fights Tony Ferguson looks like they fell off a train.”

The conversation soon diverts to the accessibility of testing, and whether or not it would be feasible to test every person involved in the UFC fight. 

“I have a feeling if someone tested positive they would remove them from the card,” Rogan hypothesizes. “There’s a lot of people that are very upset with it. It’s very controversial,” Rogan adds, concerning the fight. “They don’t want anybody to do anything out of the norm of social distancing and quarantining.”
