Conor McGregor is easily one of the most outspoken athletes in the entire UFC and recently, he went on an extended rant on Twitter about Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. For some backstory, Gaethje has been clamoring for a McGregor fight for years although Conor has refused to acknowledge him. Over the weekend, Gaethje defeated Tony Ferguson and will now get a shot at the title against Khabib. This has angered McGregor who has wanted a rematch with the Dagestanian for the last two years.
In his rant, McGregor promises that Khabib will chicken out of his fight with Gaethje and that the American will end up fighting Conor at a date to be determined. In fact, McGregor is now sending some threats Gaethje's way, noting that he will absolutely destroy the most recent UFC 249 winner. McGregor even seems to be holding a grudge from the time Gaethje told him he was a bad dad.
"I am going to fucking butcher you," McGregor wrote. "Your teeth. I’m going to put them on a fucking necklace. Speak on my skills as a father? You are fucking dead."
McGregor also went on to call Khabib an embarrassment for the way he is always ducking fights. It's clear that McGregor has an axe to grind and only a fight will be able to settle his differences.
Justin Gaethje Upsets Tony Ferguson At UFC 249, Twitter Reacts
Justin Gaethje pulled off the upset technical knockout in the fifth round.
UFC 249 was supposed to be quick work for Tony Ferguson who was slated to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov for the title, instead. Due to the Coronavirus, Khabib was unable to partake in the event and he got to up against Justin Gaethje. Not many pundits were giving Gaethje much of a chance but in the end, he came through with a fifth-round TKO after landing multiple headshots on Ferguson. As you can imagine, Gaethje was absolutely ecstatic about the win while Ferguson was distraught.
In the clip below, you can see how the closing moments of the fight played out. Clearly, Ferguson was getting gassed and dizzy at the end, which allowed Gaethje to take advantage and finish off the fight, once and for all.
Because of the nature of this upset, fans on Twitter were fairly shocked at how everything played out. People rushed to the social media website to talk about just how impressive Gaethje's performance was, while also expressing disappointment in Ferguson who talked a big game coming into the event.
Now, Gaethje will get a chance to fight Khabib for the title and we are excited to see how that one would play out. One would have to assume Gaethje is going into that fight as a massive underdog.
Dana White Reveals When & Who Khabib Will Fight Next
Dana White wants fans to know that everything is going smoothly when it comes to Khabib.
Dana White has been gearing up for a huge event this Saturday that is sure to get all of us in the sports mood. The UFC is finally giving us some athletics to watch in the form of UFC 249 and the big fight is going to be Tony Ferguson against Justin Gaethje. Ferguson was originally supposed to go up against the likes of Khabib Nurmagomedov but due to travel restrictions in Russia, Khabib is being forced to stay home.
This unfortunate fact of life has led to a lot of criticism and debate, especially amongst those fighting on Saturday. Now, White is speaking out about Khabib and on First Take today, he revealed who the Dagestanian would fight next. As White explains in the clip below, Khabib is ready to fight and that his next bout would most likely be against the winner of the match between Gaethje and Ferguson.
At this point, most fans are assuming Ferguson will win which means we will end up with the matchup that was originally supposed to happen. Khabib's eagerness to fight should be huge news for UFC fans as it means one of their stars is still in shape despite the pandemic.
Let us know in the comments below who you think will come out on top at UFC 249.
Tony Ferguson Laces Into Khabib And Tells Him To Retire
Tony Ferguson isn't too happy about Khabib's decision not to fight him.
Khabib Nurmagomedov was supposed to defend his belt against Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 but that is no longer happening because Khabib is stuck in Russie amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Russia is one of the hardest-hit countries in the world right now and travel restrictions have made it impossible for Nurmagomedov to fight right now. Instead, Ferguson will be fighting Justin Gaethje this Saturday, although fans are still disappointed that Khabib won't make it.
Ferguson has been quite harsh on Khabib, saying he purposely went to Russie, knowing it would eventually close before the fight. During today's episode of First Take, Ferguson reiterated his distaste for Khabib and noted that the UFC fighter doesn't exist to him anymore. Ferguson also thinks Khabib should just relinquish his belt and retire from the sport completely.
This interview certainly made for some great fight promo although getting on Khabib's bad side is probably not a great idea. Nurmagomedov is undefeated right now and made quick work of Conor McGregor almost two full years ago. Even if Ferguson beats Gaethje on Saturday, he will probably have to face Khabib eventually and when that happens, he will most likely be singing a different tune.
Let us know who you think would win in a fight between Khabib and Ferguson?
Dana White Unveils Ambitious UFC Return Plans
Dana White is planning on hosting three fight cards in the span of a week.
Due to the Coronavirus, all sports have pretty well shut down. This has been terrible for sports fans who have been desperate for a fix of their favorite athletic events. The UFC has been hit especially hard by the shut down although up until a few weeks ago, Dana White was still planning on hosting UFC 249 with the main event of Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje. Of course, ESPN and Disney eventually stepped in and told him not to go through with any of his plans due to safety concerns.
Now, White says the UFC will be back and better than ever before, in May. As he explained to ESPN's Brett Okamoto, White plans to host three UFC events between May 9th and May 16th. The preliminary fights on May 9th will be headlined by none other than Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis. As for the main event of Gaethje and Ferguson, White seems to have high hopes that it will be a fight to remember.
White also made the revelation that his fight island is almost ready and that it will be used for international bouts starting in June. The UFC president has been working around the clock to get this thing ready and it looks like that work is starting to pay off.
Needless to say, sports are coming back sooner than you may think. Hopefully, other sports are able to follow suit in the not so distant future.
Justin Gaethje Reacts To Securing Tony Ferguson UFC 249 Fight
Justin Gaethje had a lot to say about taking this latest fight against Tony Ferguson.
Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov were supposed to duke it out at UFC 249 although due to the Russian border being closed, Khabib isn’t able to travel. This forced the champion to bow out of the fight, leading to the UFC’s rush for a replacement. Yesterday, it was revealed that Ferguson’s challenger would be none other than Justin Gaethje.
Following the announcement, Gaethje spoke to TMZ about agreeing to the fight and what his mindset is going into UFC 249. As he explains, he has nothing to lose and that this is his best chance at getting a shot at a championship belt. Needless to say, he is extremely motivated for this opportunity.
“Heroes live forever, legends never die and I’m literally here to make a statement. My name will be carried on far longer after I’m here because of my effort, because of my work ethic and because of the skills I possess,” Gaethje said. “There’s very few people on earth that would sign up for what me and Tony just signed up for, including most UFC fighters. A lot of guys will say that they’re ready, but a lot of guys would not put their name on the dotted line.”
Ferguson has had more time to prepare for this fight so it’s easy to see how Gaethje would be at a disadvantage. Regardless, it is surely going to be a fun fight.
Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Replacement For UFC 249 Revealed
Khabib Nurmagomedov was supposed to fight Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.
Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the best fighters in the UFC right now and everyone wants a shot at him. His latest challenger for the belt was supposed to be Tony Ferguson although those plans have now been canceled. UFC 249 is set to go down on April 18th but Khabib can’t make it because he is stuck in Russia due to the Coronavirus. He isn’t allowed to leave the country which makes his appearance at UFC 249 impossible.
Ferguson has been upset by this and has been asking for Khabib to be stripped of his title. Of course, Dana White isn’t ready to do this although he has decided on Khabib’s replacement. As some fans expected, Justin Gaethje will be Ferguson’s challenger at UFC 249.

Ferguson had been calling for Conor McGregor to do it but that was never in the cards. Ferguson will have to go against a fighter who has been eager to make their way up the ranks and get some big-time fights in. As for Khabib, he will have to watch from his native Russia while under quarantine.
For now, the event doesn’t have a venue as many places in the United States are completely shutting down. Regardless, White remains committed to putting on a great show.

Conor McGregor Calls Out Khabib For Ducking Tony Ferguson Fight
Conor McGregor seems to think it was too convenient for Khabib to be back home in Russia during the Coronavirus crisis.
We are in the midst of a global pandemic which means numerous people are stuck in their homes and countries. They aren't allowed to leave or travel as it is believed that this will help stop the spread of the virus. One of the people in this situation is none other than UFC superstar Khabib Nurmagomedov who was supposed to take on Tony Ferguson at UFC 249. For now, that fight is off due to the fact Khabib cannot leave his native Russia. Ferguson and UFC fans are upset at this development as the former wants Khabib to be stripped of his title.
Now, Conor McGregor is weighing in on this in light of the fact that Ferguson wants Conor to be Khabib's replacement. McGregor is respectfully declining the invitation although the UFC legend is claiming that Khabib has chickened out of the fight and that Ferguson should be rightfully declared the winner.
"The fact of this matter is, both Tony and Khabib where engaged in a game of chicken here towards the fight bell. With Khabib chickening out first. Making it 3-2 in pullouts in Tony’s favour. Khab scurried out of the U.S to home, and amid the crisis. Very high risk," McGregor wrote.
The Irish UFC fighter has been embroiled in a beef with Khabib for quite some time so his comments shouldn't be that much of a surprise. Regardless, Mcgregor is making his thoughts on this matter pretty clear.
Dana White Promises Khabib vs Tony Ferguson Will Happen In April
UFC President Dana White says the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Tony Ferguson title fight won't be moved from April 18th, “This fight’s going to happen."
UFC President Dana White has done everything in his power to keep the fights alive as the coronavirus pandemic escalates, but he was finally forced to cancel a string of upcoming events on Monday night.
In an interview with ESPN, White announced that Saturday's UFC on ESPN+ 29 card, as well as the fights planned for March 28th and April 11th have all been postponed. UFC 249 was originally scheduled to take place a the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and there's just no way that venue will be open for operation within the next four weeks. Still, White insists that the fight will go on, without a crowd, at some yet to be determined location.
Says White (H/T MMA Fighting):
“We’re postponing the next three events, but Tony Ferguson vs. Khabib [Nurmagomedov], April 18 is still on and that will still happen,” White said on Monday. “We’re going to follow these guidelines to not have more than 10 people in a room and we’re hoping this all clears up by April.”
“This fight’s going to happen,” he said. “No crowd. Whatever it takes. Probably not even going to be in the United States, but this fight’s going to happen.”
“This is what we do,” White said. “We put fights on every weekend. The fighters want to fight. The fans want to see it. I’ve had nothing but positive feedback from the fans and the fighters. These guys all want to continue. So we will.”
The Tony-Khabib showdown has been scheduled four different times in the past, none of which came to fruition for a variety of reasons. It looks like the UFC will do everything in their power to make sure it finally happens next month, even if the world is literally ending. Check out Dana White's comments in the video embedded below.
UFC’s Khabib Nurmagomedov Trashes Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone
UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov says Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone is finished, “I don’t remember when he win.”
UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is well aware that Conor McGregor is itching for a rematch later this year, but he maintains that the Irish superstar has done nothing to prove he’s worthy of a title shot. During a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Khabib brushed off McGregor’s 40-second TKO victory over Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, claiming that Cowboy is simply washed up.

In regards to Cowboy, Khabib tells TMZ, “He’s not high level… Of course he has a big name, but his time is finished.” He adds, “Cowboy always loses all his main event fights, always. I don’t remember when he win. In last 10 fights, I think he’s lost 7 times.”
Cerrone holds a number of UFC records, including most wins (22), most knockdowns (20), and most finishes (16). That said, Khabib has a point in saying that he has been on the decline as of late. Following his loss to McGregor in January, the 36-year old veteran has now tasted defeat in seven of his last 11 fights.
Khabib also described how he is only interested in challenging high caliber fighters such as his upcoming opponent, Tony Ferguson.
“I compete with guys like Barboza, dos Anjos, Conor, Poirier, Iaquinta. All of these guys not tough like Tony Ferguson.”
“For my legacy, I have to beat tough opponents … I have to beat all of them who’s like real contenders, not fake contenders.”
Assuming there are no hiccups int he next two months, Khabib and Tony will finally come face to face at UFC 249 on April 18th. You can check out Khabib’s recent interview with TMZ Sports in the video embedded below.
