Between Coronavirus and the racial inequality in the United States and throughout the world, it is easy to get depressed with the state of affairs right now. Having said that, there has been some good news as of late and Pittsburgh Steelers running back James Conner came through with some of that good news over the weekend.
In a now-viral video, Conner showed off the moment in which he gifted his dad a brand new pickup truck. As you can see from the clip below, Conner and his father are standing across the street from the truck when the Steelers star reveals that the truck now belongs to his dad. Conner's father was shocked at first and then looked at his truck in giddy excitement. It was a beautiful moment between a father and son and we're sure they will remember this for a very long time.
What made the video humorous was the fact that Conner's dad refused to get in the car at first. Instead, he just wanted to admire the gift he had just been given. It adds a very pure quality to the video and we hope Conner's dad enjoys and drives the hell out of that car.
Many parents are instrumental in the success of professional athletes as they have to make numerous sacrifices along the path to glory. Clearly, Conner felt his dad was a major part of that journey.
Minneapolis Trucker Who Drove Into Protestors Released Without Charges
Truck driver Bogdan Vechirko has been released from police custody without any criminal charges after “unintentionally” driving his truck into a crowd of protestors on the 35W Bridge.
Truck driver Bogdan Vechirko was arrested after he rolled onto the 35W Bridge in Minneapolis, Minnesota, which was used as a peaceful protest spot following the murder of George Floyd. His vehicle was moving so quickly that protestors were forced to run to either side of the bridge, fearing for their lives. Once the truck stopped moving, Bogdan was pulled out of the vehicle and people climbed on top of the truck. He was later arrested.
According to the Star Tribune, Bogdan has officially been released from jail without any criminal charges. Minnesota authorities say that he was not aiming for any protestors and was unaware that the I-35W interstate was closed.
Vechirko had been jailed since Sunday night under suspicion of assault. He reportedly did not breach any barriers put up but, according to State Public Safety Commissioner John Harrington, the driver just barrelled forward and panicked.

Many of the protestors present at the display have claimed that Vechirko showed “a callous disregard for someone’s humanity.”
Vechirko’s wife has issued a video statement, asking for donations as they are not very financially wealthy. “Due to multiple requests, I am recording this video for those who care and want to help our family,” said Liudmila Vechirko, who is eight months pregnant. She added that their credit cards are frozen after all of her husband’s possessions were taken from the truck.
Truck Drives At Full Speed Into Minnesota Protestors
A truck drove at full speed into protestors as they blocked a Minneapolis highway before being surrounded.
A terrifying moment took place during the protests this weekend in Minneapolis as a tanker truck drove at full-speed on the highway, which was being blocked by hundreds of protestors.
The truck attempted to drive through large crowds of protestors and it is unclear what his intention was. According to The Star Tribune, a demonstration was being held on Interstate 35W as the driver went full-speed ahead with dozens of protestors taking a knee for a moment of silence on the highway. The truck continued moving forward, forcing people to run to the sides of the road.
"He wasn’t stopping. He was beeping loudly and driving into a crowd of people," said Minneapolis Washburn High School special education teacher Drew Valle. "That's the same kind of malice that brought us here. It’s a callous disregard for someone’s humanity."
Once the driver stopped, his truck was surrounded by protestors who hopped on top of the vehicle and blocked his windows, pulling him out from his door. In one video, a witness says that he ran over several people.
The driver is under arrest and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The bridge was closed in the afternoon for the demonstration.

“I chased him down and whooped his ass,” Smith continued. “So, if the footage come out and y’all see it, I chased him down and whooped his ass. He broke my window. This ain’t no hate crime. “After further investigation, it was determined the 53′ foot Hyundai dry-van trailer was reported stolen locally and was being utilized to transport nearly 18,000 pounds of commercial, bathroom paper products …” the sheriff’s office wrote in a statement. “The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.”
After determining the truck was stolen, by methods the department did not disclose, deputies followed the truck to a warehouse off the interstate highway. Only the trailer itself was stolen and the shipment was described as “legitimate cargo going to a legitimate place.”
Police are treating the theft seriously and are not yet releasing the name of the suspect as the issue of toilet paper is “fairly sensitive right now.”
As “shelter in place,” various lockdowns and quarantines take effect across the country, toilet paper has been a hot commodity on everyone’s shopping list. So much so, that many grocery stores are suffering from serious shortages. If someone is trying to steal 18,000 pounds of the bathroom tissue, police in Greensboro, North Carolina need to get to the bottom of it, fast.
