Sierra Canyon High School has had an enlarged profile over the last year thanks to the presence of Zaire Wade and Bronny James Jr. Bronny is a freshman while Zaire is a senior who is already thinking about college. The team has been dominant this season and are off to the State Championship game which is supposed to go down on Sunday.
While Zaire is a high profile name, he hasn't gotten very much playing time this season. While being an NBA panelist on TNT, D-Wade was asked whether or not he would be attending Sunday's match. Wade offered a surprising answer that insinuated something could be going wrong at Sierra Canyon right now.
"I will not be there. My son ain't playing and I don't want to do nothing to the coach. I will be rooting for the kids," Wade said. Clearly, he is unhappy about the way the coach has been treating Zaire. Meanwhile, LeBron James has had nothing to say about Bronny's playing time. As it stands, Wade won't be recommending any kids to Sierra Canyon, anytime soon.
Sierra Canyon's newfound publicity has put them in an odd position and we're sure Wade's latest statement has them reeling, at least just a little bit.
Zaire Wade Supports Sibling Zaya With Heartfelt Message On IG
Dwyane Wade recently revealed how Zaya Wade changed her name.
Zaya Wade is the 12-year-old child of Dwyane Wade who has been forging her own path in the realm of gender identity. At a young age, Zaya has recognized that she would prefer to go by female pronouns which is something the Wade family has completely embraced. Yesterday, Wade opened up about Zaya’s journey on the Ellen Degeneres show. Meanwhile, Gabrielle Union took to Twitter with a video of Zaya who spoke about her own struggle for acceptance amongst her peers.
Today, Zaya’s older brother Zaire took to Instagram where he penned a touching tribute to his younger sibling. Throughout the Instagram post, Zaire talks about how he always wanted a sibling to play with and that throughout the years, he has always had unconditional love for Zaya. Regardless of her name, that love will never change.
Per @zaire:
“Man, I remember bugging my mom as a kid telling her I wanted a brother so bad. I was the only child looking for company and someone to look after and take care of. I have been blessed to have my best friend, Zaya with me for 12 years. We did everything together…we fought, we played, we laughed and we cried. But the one thing we never did was leave each other behind… I’ve told you that I would lay my life down to make sure you are ten toes down and happy on this earth. I don’t care what they think Z, you are my best friend and I love you kid, and if it means anything, just know there’s no love lost on this side.”
Based on this post, it’s clear there is a ton of unity within the Wade family which is a beautiful thing to see. We’re sure Zaya appreciated her brother’s support considering how her story became a trending topic yesterday.
Dwyane Wade’s Son Zaire Pays Tribute To Kobe Bryant Following Fastbreak Dunk
Zaire channeled '06 Kobe following his dunk on Tuesday night.
The Sierra Canyon boy's basketball team, which includes LeBron James' son Bronny and Dwyane Wade's son Zaire, paid tribute to the late Kobe Bryant in a number of ways on Tuesday night.
For starters, the Blazers took the court for pre-game warmups wearing specially designed t-shirts honoring Kobe and his daughter Gianna. Both Sierra Canyon and Campbell Hall also took shot clock violations immediately after tip-off as a further tribute to the Laker legend.
Once the game actually got underway, Zaire threw down a fast break dunk and proceed to pull his jersey to one side, just the way the Black Mamba did after he hit the game-winning shot against the Phoenix Suns in Game 4 of the 2006 Western Conference Playoffs. Check out Z-Wade's tribute, as well as Kobe's memorable shot, in the videos embedded below.
While Zaire, Bronny and Sierra Canyon were busy picking up a victory against Campbell Hall, Dwyane Wade was at the Staples Center paying homage to Kobe. D-Wade joined the Inside The NBA crew for a special tribute to the Laker legend on Tuesday night, during which he, Shaq, Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, Reggie Miller, Candace Parker and Jerry West shared their fondest memories of the future Hall of Famer.
