Netflix has unveiled a brand-new teaser for its upcoming K-drama The Frog, starring Yoon Kye-sang, Kim Yun-seok and more. Read on for everything you need to know its cast, plot, premiere date and more.
Billed by Netflix as a suspense thriller, The Frog follows the present-day quiet countryside life of Jeon Young-ha, who runs a vacation cottage located deep in the woods, until it’s upended when mysterious guests begin to show up at the cottage in the summer.
The show will also explore a past timeline in the early 2000s when the cottage was run by Koo Sang-joon. On one summer while the cottage is under Sang-joon’s ownership, an incident shrouded in mystery causes him to lose everything he has.
Both timelines are connected by the same police officer, Yoon Bo-min, who is now the chief at the police station in the area and has witnessed the strange occurrences at the same property.
The Frog will be led by Kim Yun-seok of Escape from Mogadishu fame, starring as Jeon Young-ha. Meanwhile, veteran actor Yoon Kye-sang co-stars as Koo Sang-joon.
Sweet Home actress Go Min-si has been announced as a mystery character named Yoo Sung-ah, while Parasite actress Lee Jung-min is cast as Yoon Bo-min. Meanwhile, EXO rapper Chanyeol was also announced to be part of the cast, however his role in the series has yet to be disclosed.
The Frog is helmed by director Mo Wan-il, who last worked on the JTBC series The World of the Married in 2020. He also previously directed shows such as Misty and Beautiful Mind, which released in 2018 and 2016 respectively.
Netflix dropped a new teaser for The Frog on July 26, briefly setting up the world as depicted in the show and the chaos that unfolds when Young-ha receives a mysterious guest at his cottage home, who he describes as someone who “cleans up after themselves”.
Although her motives are unknown, she begins engaging in horrifically violent acts and psychopathic behaviour that haunts Young-ha, which has a significant impact on his life and grasp on reality.
