In perhaps the most chaotic news from today, Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden is receiving some criticism after he made some questionable remarks in a heated conversation with Charlamagne Tha God in an interview on The Breakfast Club.
After previously rejecting numerous interviews with the radio show, the White House hopeful’s camp finally allowed the candidate to make an appearance on the show Friday morning. Biden went on the popular syndicated radio show and dodged questions from Charlamagne about marijuana legalization, which he thinks is a gateway drug, and details about his potential running mate.
Further into the conversation, Biden strongly defended his support and ties to the Black community, claiming he gets “overwhelming support” from Black voters. He then declared, “If you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump then you ain’t black.”
Biden immediately received backlash regarding his comments, notably from Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, the only Black Republican on Senate, who tweeted this morning reminding Biden that 1.3 million Black Americans voted for Trump back in 2016 and that the Democrats often take the Black vote for granted.
Biden is set to become the Democratic Presidential nominee in the upcoming November 2020 election cycle.
