Tom Cruise and Doug Liman aren’t giving up on plans for a sequel to their 2014 sci-fi action film Edge Of Tomorrow just yet.

Edge Of Tomorrow arrived in cinemas in May 2014 and amassed a decent amount of money, but was never seen as a box office success. However, the film would later go on to a hit among Cruise fans after its release on digital and streaming, with many labelling it as one of the actor’s best movies.

Since 2014, Cruise, director Doug Liman and co-star Emily Blunt have expressed interesting in making a sequel, which has yet to come to fruition 10 years later. However, all hope is not lost, as Liman has now revealed that he and Cruise often talk about a potential second film.

Speaking to Empire, Liman denied that plans for a sequel are dead, instead telling the publication: “No, we keep talking about it. We love that world.” He added: “Tom and I just actually rewatched it about two months ago, because I hadn’t seen it in 10 years. I was like, ‘Wow, that is a really good movie.’”

Edge Of Tomorrow starred Cruise has a soldier reliving the same day over and over as he tries to prevent an alien invasion from wiping out humanity.

Cruise’s latest film, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, scored a three star review from NME. Alex Flood wrote: “After an exciting first third, we drift into a series of bloated exposition sessions where thinly drawn side-characters spend far too long talking up the apocalyptic (but actually quite vague) threat of AI. Dead Reckoning’s spectacular finale does well to bring things back on brand – seriously, the closing action tableau is as impressive as any you’ll see – but by then most will have stopped caring because their heads hurt.”
