Lip Critic have shared their chaotic new single ‘Jackpot’ taken from their forthcoming new album ‘Theft World’.
The track, which follows previous single ‘Legs In A Snare’, hammers the senses with fruit and slot machine sounds at a casino while frontman Bret Kaser’s belts out the track’s rowdy lyrics.
The song spirals around a “protagonist groomed by gambling ads in childhood, now grown into a man at war with his own circuitry”, according to a press release. Check it out below.
“‘Jackpot’ is a song about risking it all, and winning it all, betting the house, and ending up with two houses, then waking up with nothing at all,” the band said.

It features on the band’s forthcoming album ‘Theft World’, which is set for release on May 1 via Partisan Records.
“’Theft World’ is an ode to the power and pervasiveness of stealing,” the band previously said of the album. “It’s about taking something ugly and using it to make something cute. It’s about eating an absurd world and falling in love with it as you digest.”
The concept for the record came about while the former NME cover stars were touring their debut album, 2024’s ‘Hex Dealer’. Kaser discovered that his identity had been stolen and someone had used his information to make hundreds of purchases, including buying the band’s entire discography on Bandcamp.
The band found the culprit, a young fan who said he believed the music contained hidden codes forming an scavenger hunt he’d successfully completed. But rather than getting the police involved, they recorded him describe the intricate mythology he’d imagined.
Ahead of its release, Lip Critic are staging a New York residency entitled ‘Theft Saga’.
The first show will take place March 21 at the Yong Xin Tan Laundromat in Brooklyn, with the second happening March 26 in Spring Bar’s Basement with the final gig at the Frost St Boxing Ring April 9. For more information visit here.
Upon the release of ‘Hex Dealer’ two years ago, NME gave it a glowing five-star review, describing it as “bold, energetic and blisteringly smart”. The review read: “Throughout ‘Hex Dealer’, Lip Critic prove why they are the band of the moment. A full-on, disruptive force emerging from their city’s underground scene – their music rides high on a bolt of infectious energy.”
