Hayley Williams has shared a candid reflection on her first solo live tour, describing the experience as a period that “turned me back into a night owl” and a “teenaged dreamer with dark circles.” The Paramore frontwoman recently concluded a successful run of North American headline shows, wrapping up in Los Angeles on May 15 before a notable appearance at the Kilby Block Party 2026 in Salt Lake City.
The tour serves as a live celebration of her 2025 album, ‘Ego Death At A Bachelorette Party’. As she prepares for an upcoming UK and European leg, which includes two highly anticipated nights at London’s Roundhouse on June 19 and 20, Williams took to her ‘Live Journal’ on Substack to process the intensity of life on the road.
“Tour turned me back into a night owl. Back into a teenaged dreamer with dark circles. But tour had me up every morning at 8:45, no alarm,” she wrote. “I’ve not been this hungry for my days in quite some time. Nor my nights. Gorging on future memories while they’re hot and ready. Practicing hyper-presence.”
Reflecting on the transition back to domestic life, the singer-songwriter noted the contrast between the adrenaline of the stage and the quiet of her own home. “I’ve been waking up in my own bed around noon every morning for the last couple days. It felt so good to come home. But it felt so good to be out there too,” she added.
Williams also touched upon the difficulty of articulating the emotional weight of the tour, referencing an observation by Björk regarding the limitations of language. “I’ve tried on occasion, over the last 2 months, to make myself work out in writing what current growing pains and pleasure feel like. What I would want to remember most about these days,” she explained. “Björk said something once in an interview about how language and communicating was like trying to put the ocean through a straw. I think I am the ocean.”
The recent Los Angeles shows were marked by a series of high-profile guest appearances, including Jenny Lewis, Julien Baker, Jack Antonoff, and Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast. These collaborations underscored the collaborative spirit of her current creative chapter.
Looking ahead, Williams is set to continue her momentum with a newly announced 2026 tour covering North America and Latin America, titled ‘The Hayley Williams Show’. As she continues to evolve as a solo artist, she remains focused on the “life-death-life cycles” that define her creative journey.
