Machine Gun Kelly has sustained a painful back injury after a daring, yet ultimately unsuccessful, attempt to somersault off a roof into his audience. The incident occurred during an afterparty performance on June 6 at Mezzo Grille in Connecticut, while the artist was on tour supporting his latest album, Lost Americana.
The musician was in the middle of performing his collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly, titled ‘FIX UR FACE’, when he climbed onto a nearby roof in an attempt to crowd surf. Unfortunately, the maneuver did not go as planned; as he leapt into the crowd, the audience members were unable to catch him, leading to a heavy landing that left the artist visibly struggling.
“I messed my back up really, really bad. I’m having trouble even just standing or picking things up. I can’t even stand up without using my arms and my upper body strength to help support my back.”
Addressing the incident via an Instagram story, the artist expressed the severity of his condition, noting that it currently hurts to breathe. Despite the injury, he remains committed to his tour schedule. “If I’m moving funky at any of these upcoming shows, I don’t want you to think I’m not giving it my all,” he added. “I’m just really, really fucking hurt, dude. But I’m gonna mentally heal. I know this is a big mental game, and I know that my body is pretty indestructible. So I just gotta… and nothing’s more important than the show going on. I don’t cancel anything.”

The tour, which kicked off last November, has already seen the artist travel through the UK, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. He is currently in the midst of a North American leg, with upcoming dates scheduled in Pennsylvania, Idaho, Utah, Ontario, and New York, before concluding in Ridgefield, Washington, on July 1.
