The long-running V/H/S found footage horror anthology series is set to expand once again with its ninth installment, titled V/H/S/MIXTAPE. Since its inception in 2012, the franchise has become a staple of the genre, utilizing a unique format where individual segments of fictional horror are presented as raw, found footage. With a history of collaborating with visionary directors such as Gareth Evans and Scott Derrickson, the upcoming film promises to push the boundaries of the series even further.

According to reports, the film is scheduled for release on October 9 via the streaming service Shudder. The project boasts an eclectic mix of talent, with RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan confirmed to direct one of the anthology’s segments. Additionally, the film will feature music video interludes from Flying Lotus and Ghost frontman Tobias Forge. The heavy metal band GWAR is also slated to make an appearance, further cementing the film’s strong ties to the music world.

The involvement of RZA is particularly notable given his extensive background in cinema, ranging from his iconic scores for Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill to his directorial work on The Man With The Iron Fists. Meanwhile, Flying Lotus returns to the franchise following his acclaimed directorial contribution to V/H/S/99.
