Tinashe is back. Today, July 16, the “Nasty” singer shared that she will be releasing a brand new album, Popstar, this fall. Alongside the major announcement, Tinashe has shared a new song, “Crash Out.”
In recent months, Tinashe has been teasing a new era, releasing a new dance-inflected heater, “Too Easy,” featuring co-production from underground hyperpop and hip-hop producer kimj and Vince Staples collaborator and “Nasty” co-producer Zack Sekoff. Tinashe also shared a frenetic new music video for “Too Easy” which, per the name of her new era, is a slyly satirical depiction of popstar life.
Tinashe has reached new heights in her career following the 2024 releases of “Nasty” and Quantum Baby. In the years following her major label debut with 2014’s Aquarius, which included the major radio hit “2 On,” Tinashe went independent and settled into a respected niche as an experimental pop pioneer, putting out buzzy, critically acclaimed records like Songs For You, 333, and BB/ANG3L.
The meme-fueled rise of “Nasty” put a brighter spotlight on Tinashe, and soon after, she notched another charting hit with the Disco Lines remix of her Quantum Baby single, “No Broke Boys.” Here’s everything we know about Tinashe’s forthcoming album so far.
Tinashe’s forthcoming album is titled Popstar.
Tinashe shared today, July 16, that her new album will be coming out September 25, 2026.
On July 16, Tinashe shared the artwork for Popstar: a close-up photo of her wearing glasses with literal stars in her eyes.
“Crash Out,” released July 16, is the second single off of Popstar. The synth forward, low-tempo, trap rider is a throwback to Tinashe’s mid-2010s era working with DJ Mustard. It features writing credits from Couros, Zikai, and Bobby Raps.
