Deadmau5 collaborator responds to claim she’s “miming” original singer’s vocals: “Shit happens”

Deadmau5 collaborator Lights has responded to claims of her “miming” a different singer’s vocals while performing on stage. Recently, when performing his 2011 track ‘Raise Your Weapon’ – which features vocals by Greta Svabo Bech – the iconic DJ brings out Lights to sing Bech’s parts but the vocalist took to her TikTok account to call out Lights for lip-syncing to her vocals. “I get tagged in lots of posts from Deadmau5 shows. In the videos, it is my voice, but another singer is miming. If she’s not miming, her voice is so low in the mix you can only hear me. Seeing these videos made me realize, as a singer, my voice and my identity are intertwined,” she began. @gretasvabo Today is my birthday. And it’s also the day I reclaim my voice, and take part in a conversation that has been happening online without me. This false crediting of my voice to someone else has to stop. If you want to respect the integrity and authenticity of the record, respect the Artists who made it. @deadmau5 When I asked to sing live at these shows – this was not the response I was expecting. Hinder drummer admits he “almost got beat up” by Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger over joke

Hinder drummer Cody Hanson has admitted that he “almost got beat up” by Nickelback‘s Chad Kroeger over a joke about the latter’s nationality. The post-grunge band’s co-founder appeared in a video interview by content creator Jesea Lee yesterday (December 5). Hanson began, stating that Nickelback was one of Hinder’s “favourite bands” and they became “buddies” with the ‘Lips Of An Angel’ band. They spent one summer with Kroeger, and they were accompanied by their crew and “a couple of girls”, who were talking amongst themselves about horses. Hinder’s drum tech had gone over to Hanson laughing, telling him: “Chad says there’s no such thing as quarter horses”, in reference to a type of American horse breed. Advertisement Hanson replied to his colleague: “‘Maybe ’cause he’s Canadian and they use the metric system’”. “Everybody starts laughing. I wasn’t trying to be a dick,” maintained Hanson. “[Kroeger] comes over and wraps his arm around my neck, and I think he’s joking, right? And then I notice he starts really squeezing.” “So I kinda shove him off and am like, ‘What the fuck are you doing, dude?’ And he’s like, ‘If you wanna make a person from Canada mad, the first thing you… Read More →

‘Harry Potter’ star Rupert Grint ordered to pay £1.8m after losing tax dispute

Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has been ordered to pay £1.8million in tax after losing a legal dispute with HM Revenue & Customs. The actor, who starred as Ron Weasley in all eight films, was originally told to pay the sum in 2019 after an HMRC investigation disputed one of his tax returns. Grint’s lawyers launched an appeal, arguing that money he received from a company had been correctly taxed as a capital asset, but HMRC said it should have been taxed as income at a higher rate. As reported by the BBC, Grint’s claim has been dismissed by a tax tribunal judge and he will now have to pay a total fee of £1.8million. Advertisement During the 2011-2012 tax year, Grint received £4.5million from a company that managed his business, and for which he was the sole shareholder. The payment was described as being “likely residual income and bonuses” for the Harry Potter films. The actor argued he could pay capital gains tax on the sum at a rate of 10%, rather than income tax and national insurance at a top rate of 52%.
