Aurora, Lucy Dacus, Sharon Van Etten to play NYC’s SummerStage 2022
Capital One City Parks Foundation SummerStage has announced this year’s 2022 line-up with Aurora, Lucy Dacus, Sharon Van Etten, Modest Mouse, and more. The New York City outdoor performing arts festival will be bringing nearly 90 free and benefit shows to Central Park and 12 neighbourhood parks across the city’s five boroughs. Waxahatchee, The Cribs, Sampa The Great, and Angel Olsen will also be performing. All performances will be free and open to the public, except for benefit concerts, and select shows will also be live-streamed on SummerStageAnywhere.org. Members of Tool celebrated the end of their European tour by joining support act Brass Against for a performance of their first industry single, ‘Stinkfist’. Performing in Budapest last week (May 24), Brass Against performed the 1996 Ænima track – a regular track in their set of big-band rock covers – with Tool’s Adam Jones, Danny Carey, and Justin Chancellor joining them onstage. Brass Against’s covers of ‘The Pot’ and ‘Lateralus’ had caught the attention of the metal band, who subsequently invited them to open their shows. Frank Ocean reportedly set to direct his first film
Frank Ocean is reportedly set to direct his debut movie, with independent studio A24 in talks to distribute the project. According to Discussing Film, A24 – the company behind Uncut Gems and Everything Everywhere All At Once – and another production company, 2AM, are both in line to work on the unnamed project. Ocean has a connection to A24, having licensed his music to a number of the studio’s films in the past – including Waves, which featured his songs ‘Godspeed’ and ‘Seigfried’ – and wrote the foreword to a published version of Moonlight in 2019. Members of The Cure, Bon Iver, Hot Chip and Duran Duran have paid tribute to Dave Smith, the founder of Sequential Synth and MIDI Pioneer, following his death aged 72.
