My Vitriol are celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album ‘Finelines’ with a headline show at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire. This milestone event marks the band’s largest performance in over two decades, following their last major headline appearance at the London Astoria in 2005.
The upcoming concert, scheduled for Thursday, December 10, will feature support from InMe and Yourcodenameis:milo. Tickets for the anniversary celebration go on sale this Monday, August 24.
‘Finelines’ remains a landmark release, often credited as the first ‘Nugaze’ album—a term originally coined in jest by frontman Som Wardner. Upon its release, the record received critical acclaim and was hailed by fans as a near-perfect debut from start to finish.
The inclusion of Yourcodenameis:milo on the bill is particularly significant, as it hints at a continued resurgence for the band. After a long hiatus, the group returned for charity concerts in 2023 and has previously expressed interest in recording new material. Frontman Paul Mullen noted in past discussions with NME that the prospect of creating new music is something that fills him with genuine joy.
Guitarist Justin Lockey has also echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that any new material would need to honor the band’s legacy while pushing for the heaviest sound possible. As fans prepare for the Shepherd’s Bush Empire show, the anticipation for both a nostalgic trip through ‘Finelines’ and the potential future of the supporting acts continues to build.
