Rhian Teasdale, the lead singer of the acclaimed indie-rock outfit Wet Leg, is stepping into the world of beauty as the face of a new short film for Milk Makeup. Despite her roots in the remote Isle of Wight, U.K., Teasdale perfectly captures the frenetic, creative spirit of New York City in this upcoming project, which is scheduled for release on Monday, September 14.
The film features Teasdale alongside a diverse cast of local New York City creatives. These participants were selected from a pool of over 1,000 hopefuls who attended an open casting call held at Milk’s Soho offices on July 17. The production boasts a high-profile creative team, directed by Arnaud Uyttenhove, with movement direction by Sergio Reis—known for his work on Troye Sivan’s viral music videos—and styling by Sarah Richardson, Editor-in-Chief of Beyond Noise.
Teasdale and her co-founder Hester Chambers have enjoyed a meteoric rise since the 2021 release of their breakout single, “Chaise Longue.” Their self-titled 2022 debut album secured two Grammy Awards, cementing their status as modern rock icons. They maintained that momentum with the 2025 release of moisturizer, which featured the hard-hitting track “mangetout.”
This collaboration marks Teasdale’s first foray into a major beauty campaign, where she aims to translate the raw, unfiltered energy of her music into the Milk Makeup brand identity. Fans can look forward to the full short film release on September 14.
