NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin made an appearance on ESPN's "Get Up" on Wednesday morning to discuss the blockbuster trade that sent All Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for "a ham sandwich."
According to Irvin, Hopkins told him that he had met with head coach Bill O'Brien prior to the trade, and that the meeting deteriorated once O'Brien compared Hopkins to Aaron Hernandez. Furthermore, Irvin claims that O'Brien didn't like how Hopkins "has his baby mamas around sometimes."
Says Irvin, "And from there I think the relationship just went bad and thus we got a trade of DeAndre Hopkins from Houston, for basically what I said earlier, a ham sandwich all because of that relationship."
Shortly after Irvin's inflammatory comments went viral, Hopkins jumped on social media to defend his former coach.
"This is being blown way out of proportion. As I’ve said before, I enjoyed and am proud of my time with the Texans. I have the utmost respect for Coach O’Brien and that will not change. Now, I’m ready to play for the Cardinals."
Hopkins, arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL, has earned First Team All-Pro honors in each of the last three seasons. He finished with 104 receptions for 1,165 yards and seven touchdowns a season ago, while helping Houston to a 10-6 record and guiding them to their second straight playoff appearance.
DeAndre Hopkins Soured On Texans After Aaron Hernandez Comparison
Michael Irvin reveals that Texans coach Bill O'Brien had compared DeAndre Hopkins to Aaron Hernandez during pre-trade meeting.
The Houston Texans shocked the NFL world earlier this week when they traded All Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals in exchange for aging running back David Johnson and some future draft picks, none of which are in the first round.
On Wednesday, NFL Hall of Famer Michael Irvin provided his insight on the situation in Houston, including how head coach Bill O'Brien allegedly compared Hopkins to Aaron Hernandez during a pre-trade meeting.

During his appearance on ESPN's "Get Up," Irvin revealed that Hopkins' relationship with the Texans went south once O'Brien brought up Hernandez, and voiced his displeasure with the fact that Hopkins sometimes bring his baby mamas around.
Says Irvin:
"He told me, he said, Michael, it was a bit of a power struggle there because Bill O’Brien thought he had too much influence over the locker room. He called DeAndre Hopkins in a meeting to talk about this and to kind of get this — hash it out. In that meeting, he started the meeting with telling DeAndre Hopkins this — which blew my mind when DeAndre told me this. He told DeAndre Hopkins, he said, ‘Hey, the last time I had to have a meeting like this it was with Aaron Hernandez.’ I was like what? He put in Aaron Hernandez in this meeting? He said yes he did. He said, ‘Michael. that blew my mind that he would even bring that up, I’ve never been in any trouble, I don’t know why he would equate me with Aaron Hernandez.’"
"And from there the meeting just deteriorated. He got into talking about DeAndre Hopkins. DeAndre Hopkins has a few kids from different women and he said, you know, he told DeAndre that he doesn’t like that he has his baby mamas around sometimes. And from there I think the relationship just went bad and thus we got a trade of DeAndre Hopkins from Houston, for basically what I said earlier, a ham sandwich all because of that relationship."

During the episode, which aired on Thursday, Jonathan Hernandez revealed details of the moment that his brother finally opened up to their mom.
“He’s like, ‘Mom you’re going to die never knowing your son',” Jonathan Hernandez tells Dr. Oz.
He continued: “Then all of a sudden they have this conversation and they’re both flooded with tears across from each other and here the weight of what’s on my brother is being expressed, and for a mother to be looking at across from the scratched glass in the cell and seeing your son who you would never have anticipated him ever being in this situation.”
Jonathan, who said he never knew Aaron's secret, couldn't say whether or not his sexuality might have motivated the killing of his friend Odin Lloyd.
"That’s one of the questions and, you know, head scratches that they still have regarding really this entire case," Hernandez said when asked if his brother's sexuality and motive behind the murder of Lloyd. "There’s just so many questions regarding everything. And, for me to sit here and say it was this or that, I can’t say. All you can do is look at the evidence that was provided."

Aaron Hernandez’s Brother Breaks Silence For The First Time Since Netflix Docuseries
Aaron Hernandez’s brother Jonatha speaks on the abuse they endured under their father’s roof.
Aaron Hernandez has been back in headlines in the past few weeks due to Netflix’s docuseries, Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez. One aspect of the film that received a lot of criticism is that no one close to Hernandez actually appeared in the film. His former fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins, only recently spoke on the docuseries to ABC but it appears that Aaron’s brother is also breaking his silence.

Jonathan Hernandez is set to appear on Dr. Oz’s show tomorrow. Ahead of the episode airing, Entertainment Weekly shared a few clips from the interview where he gets candid with the show’s host. The topic of the abuse Aaron Hernandez endured as a child was detailed in the documentary but Jonathan confirmed that their father really was that abusive towards them.
“I don’t think ‘beat’ is really even the word that can be expressed,” he said. “When you literally have to blow on your brother’s wounds because of the creases of a belt or a handprint in your body and the burning sensation it has and have a rule in your household that you can get beat but you stay away from the face so other people can’t notice.”
Jonathan also speaks on the allegations that the murder of Odin Lloyd was motivated because he knew that Aaron was gay. However, like everyone else, including Shayanna Jenkins, he is still scratching his head over it. Peep the clips below. The full episode airs on Thursday.
Shayanna Jenkins Opens Up About Aaron Hernandez’s Sexuality Following Docuseries
Aaron Hernandez’s former fiancee speaks on his sexuality for the first time after Netflix’s docuseries.
Aaron Hernandez has been back in headlines over the past few weeks since Netflix debuted Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez which explored his murder cases, his sexuality, and his CTE diagnosis. For the first time since the docuseries, his former fiancee Shayanna Jenkins is opening up about the claims made in the docuseries including his sexuality.
“If he did feel that way or if he felt the urge, I wish that I was told. I wish that he would’ve told me ’cause I wouldn’t — I would not have loved him any differently. I would’ve understood. It’s not shameful and I don’t think anybody should feel shameful about who they are inside, regardless of who they love. I think, I think it’s a beautiful thing,” she told ABC News’ Amy Robach. “I wish I was able to tell him that.”
In the interview, which is set to air in full on Wednesday, she also speaks on one of the people in the documentary, Dennis Sansoucie. Sansoucie was a high school teammate and a friend of Hernandez. He claimed that they would engage in sexual acts when they were in high school. Jenkins-Hernandez said that she only knew of Sansoucie but he wasn’t active in Aaron’s adult life.
The entire interview is set to air tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 28th) at 7 a.m. on Good Morning America.
Aaron Hernandez’s Ex-Fiancee Set To Break Silence On Netflix Doc Next Week
Shayanna Jenkins will speak to "what was not in the documentary" on "GMA" next week."
Aaron Hernandez has been back in the news after Netflix released the documentary, Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez. The documentary was obviously a bombshell, detailing his sexuality, his murder cases, his childhood, and more. One person who didn't appear in the documentary, though, is Shayanna Jenkins, the former fiancee of the one-time NFL star.
This Monday, Jenkins will sit down on GMA for her first interview since the documentary dropped. Jenkins has been silent, for the most part, since the documentary's release, although she did issue a message on Instagram to thank everyone for their positive messages. The teaser for the interview started with the reporter asking her, "How do you think the world should remember Aaron Hernandez?" Clips of her tearfully respond are shown as the narration continues. Jenkins will be discussing the documentary as well as facts that were missing from the documentary itself.
The documentary has sparked more backlash from people who were directly connected to Aaron Hernandez's murder case including the family of the victim. The other day, Odin Lloyd's family said they were blindsided by the documentary especially after they declined this documentary and other specials in the past. They said that the producers used old footage of themselves in the documentary to make it appear as if they gave exclusive interviews for it.
Aaron Hernandez Murder Victim’s Lawyer Speaks After Docuseries Debuts
“Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez” reportedly blindsided the family of Odin Lloyd.
Like most things that happen in a content-driven age in media, the story of Aaron Hernandez’s rise and fall was bound to be subject to a Netflix documentary. Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez documents the former football star’s murder case up until his suicide. CTE and his sexuality were two topics that were heavily explored in the documentary in relation to Aaron’s murder case.
The family of Aaron’s victim, Odin Lloyd, are not happy about the Netflix docuseries. Although it isn’t shocking, the producers reportedly didn’t take into consideration the victim’s family when they went forward with the project. Lloyd’s family said that they’re having to relive memories of his death and the trial after they’ve tried to get over it since Aaron’s conviction. With the newfound attention on them, once again, they said that that people are going to desperate lengths to get in contact with them. A few people even messaging their family members in defense of Hernandez.
What’s worse about this is apparently, not only did they not want to be included in the doc, they never signed off to be included in the film. They’ve continuously declined offers for specials on Aaron in the past and weren’t interested in involving themselves in one now. However, old footage of the family was included in the documentary which they said makes it seem like they were involved. Old photos of Odin was also used in the doc without their consent, they said.
Speaking to E! News, the lawyer for Odin Lloyd’s family said that he’s yet to hear any complaints from the family about this. “I continue to love and care for this family. They are wonderful people. We are proud to represent them in anything they need,” he said.
But as previously pointed out by TMZ, the family doesn’t have any intention of taking the film’s producers to court.
Aaron Hernandez Doc "Blindsided" Murder Victim’s Family: Report
Hernandez was convicted of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of his friend, Odin Lloyd.
Former football star and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez is the topic of conversation worldwide following the release of Netflix’s docuseries, Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez. In 2017, while in prison serving out a life sentence after he was convicted of first-degree murder over the shooting death of his friend Odin Lloyd, Hernandez was found dead in his Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center cell. He was hanging from bedsheets attached to a window.

There has been much speculation regarding Hernandez’s life since his suicide, including rumors that he was secretly homosexual. Over the last few days, news reports have surfaced that Hernandez took his own life because of his sexuality—an assertion that his lawyer would later reject. The docuseries goes into intimate details about Hernandez’s life, career, and alleged crimes, but as thorough as this all seems, TMZ reports that victim Odin Lloyd’s family was “blindsided” by the feature.
The publication states that Lloyd’s family feels as if they have to relive a traumatic time in their lives that they’ve been trying to move on from since 2013. The family reportedly didn’t want anything to do with the production of Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez and have repeatedly rejected offers from filmmakers interested in documenting Hernandez’s story. Although members of Lloyd’s family are seen in the recently released Netflix series, they didn’t participate nor did they grant Netflix access to use their photos.
The internet can often be a cruel place, and it’s reported that there have been fans of Hernandez who have tracked down and reached out to Lloyd’s family members to insult the murder victim. Lloyd’s family reportedly isn’t seeking legal action against Netflix or production because they just want all of the attention to dissipate.
Aaron Hernandez’s Lawyer Says CTE, Not Sexuality, Reason For Suicide
After the controversial documentary “Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez” debuted, Jose Baez issues a statement.
Aaron Hernandez’s lawyer has already expressed his displeasure in Netflix’s Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez. After sharing a post on Instagram slamming the producers and calling the series a “lame ass documentary,” he’s now issued a formal statement during a press conference.

Per TMZ, Jose Baez, Hernandez’s lawyer, is completely denying that Aaron’s suicide had anything to do with his sexuality, as the documentary suggested. He made it abundantly clear, though, that CTE had a major role in pushing Aaron towards suicide. Hernandez suffered brain disease since he was in his youth.
Baez wanted Hernandez’s brain studied at Boston University and said that the Worcester Medical Examiner is holding onto Aaron’s brain illegally. He also continued to deny rumors that Hernandez was having any sort of romantic or sexual affair with an inmate.
Baez was also very upset about the documentary because of the inclusion of Dennis SanSoucie, a former high school teammate of Aaron who claimed they experimented sexually when they were teenagers. Baez said that he only decided to be included in Killer Inside on the basis that the producers didn’t include interviews with anyone regarding his client’s sexual orientation. SanSoucie’s inclusion made Baez feel betrayed by the docuseries producers.
“I don’t give a damn about what some lame-ass documentary has to say about Aaron,” he wrote on Instagram following the documentary’s debut. “I knew him, they did not and while he was far from perfect, they are not even close to the truth.”
Aaron Hernandez’s Fiancée Speaks Out Following Netflix Doc
Jenkins was a major focal point of the documentary.
Aaron Hernandez has been back in the news as of late thanks to the latest Netflix documentary centered around his life titled Killer Inside: The Mind Of Aaron Hernandez. The documentary does a deep dive into his background and some of the people he used to associate with. Of course, one of those people was his fiancée Shayanna Jenkins. Jenkins was Hernandez’s ride or die while he was going through his murder trial. Jenkins did not participate in the documentary but she was certainly talked about a lot.
Jenkins has been through a lot of emotional distress over the years and recently, she took to Instagram where she issued a message to all of the people who have reached out to her over the last few days. Jenkins also stated that she plans to take a break from social media.
“I wanted to let all of you sweet, sweet souls know I have to tried to read every message sent on IG and through email (positive and negative)…The amount of support and positive energy is again unreal! I’m sure you will understand how imperative it is to take some time away from social media,” Jenkins wrote.
