When Akon uploaded a video of himself in the studio with Tekashi 6ix9ine, he likely already envisioned all of the backlash he would be receiving. The two rappers are currently working on a sequel to Akon's hit record "Locked Up" and everyone seems to have an opinion about the track.
Although the song does not yet have a release date attached to it, Akon and 6ix9ine broke the internet when they confirmed they were working together. Tory Lanez shared his opinion and so did Styles P, the original feature on the track. Now, NLE Choppa is chiming in and he doesn't seem pleased that this is happening.
The Memphis upstart tweeted a face-palm emoji, specifying that he's not too impressed with Akon right now. He's not alone as many music fans have turned their backs on the 47-year-old because of this.
The teenage rapper is admittedly not a fan of Tekashi 6ix9ine so it's not too surprising for him to be angry about this new development. Just the other week, he said that he thinks YNW Melly should be free instead of the rainbow-haired snitch.
Recently, NLE Choppa was in the news after he called out the mother of his newborn child for allegedly refusing to give him any information about his daughter. He claims that she won't even tell him her name.
Pretty Ricky’s Spectacular Comes For Tory Lanez: "Since You Got That New Hairline"
Spectacular calls cap on Tory Lanez and says that the artist sampled Pretty Ricky without his permission.
There was a lot of online banter after Tekashi 6ix9ine and Akon got acquainted in the studio this weekend, sharing a preview of their upcoming record “Locked Up Part 2.” Hip-hop fans are angry at Akon for collaborating with the formerly-incarcerated rapper. Styles P issued his response and so did Tory Lanez.
“So what y’all telling me is …. Akon gave the #LockedUpRemix / SAMPLE to someone else !?!?? And not me?!????” exclaimed Tory on Twitter.
This led another party to get involved, suggesting Tory should just “steal” the record like he allegedly did with a number of others.
“@torylanez you should just stole it like you did Grind On Me and Your Body. Why stop now ….. Just keeping it 2 Virgils,” said Spectacular of Pretty Ricky.
As expected, the shady reply garnered a response from Lanez.
“STOLE WHAT ??!? Actually I BOUGHT the rights from whoever signed u and publishes your music,” said Tory. “But I guess you weren’t apart of that conversation. Go stare in someone eyes and rub on someone thighs and leave me outta this one.”
Spectacular got the final word in, leaving a comment on the post.
“Ever since you got that new hairline, you been acting different,” he said. “Stop with the [cap]. Last time I checked, I owned my own masters. What type of bootleg business you running. You acting like Virgil but not keeping it 2 Virgils.”
Tory Lanez Reacts To 6ix9ine & Akon Collab, Akon Responds
Tory Lanez seems to be just a bit jealous of Tekashi 6ix9ine linking up with Akon,
In the midst of all of the protests yesterday, Akon and 6ix9ine had the entire internet buzzing as they linked up for a preview of a new song. As many figured out, the song was a remix to Akon's smash hit "Locked Up." 6ix9ine was dubbing this song as "Locked Up Part 2" and fans are already split on how they feel about it. On one hand, some think the song sounds good while others are appalled that Akon would associate himself with someone like 6ix9ine.
After hearing about the collaboration, Tory Lanez took to Twitter in utter disappointment. As he explained, he couldn't believe Akon had given the "Locked Up" remix to another artist. However, all was not lost for Tory as Akon quickly chimed in noting that he would allow him to be on "Locked Up Part 3."
It remains to be seen whether or not this 6ix9ine and Akon collab will ever see the light of day. 6ix9ine is known to be a troll and perhaps the snippet was simply a way to go viral. However, if the song does drop, it will certainly be a chart-topper as many fans will be excited about the 2000s nostalgia.
Either way, the song will surely be polarizing.
Styles P Reacts To 6ix9ine & Akon’s "Locked Up Pt. 2"
The OG has nothing to say except to boost your immune system.
Tekashi 6ix9ine has returned, though it seems the public interest has decreased significantly since "GOOBA." Nonetheless, he's still up to his trolling ways with a new single supposedly coming at the end of the month. The song apparently has a major feature which many suspected could be Nicki Minaj, though there hasn't been any actual confirmation of that.
p>What we can tell you is that he's been in the studio with Akon. Earlier today, 6ix9ine shared a clip of himself in the studio with the Akon working on "Locked Up Pt. 2." Now, for anyone born post-2000, you may have been too young to recall how big of a song it was. With Styles P delivering a guest verse on it, Akon came through with an anthem for the streets that reached beyond the borders of the United States. That being said, many began tagging Styles P after the clip emerged with some sort of anticipation that he'd be upset. That isn't the case. In fact, Styles P is making it abundantly clear that he won't let Tekashi's recent IG post distract him from sending out his reminder to boost your immune system.
"My job is 2 remind you 2 boost the immune system n not get distracted by minor things i will always consider Akon a brother but we have not spoke or seen each other In years I don’t know 6’9 meaning all 3 of our paths are different.I live by my code n don’t hold others 2 my code," he wrote. "To make this even simpler 4 u wondering how I feel about the song.I honestly don’t give a fux the fact that this is even a topic 2 discuss with all the racial tension n plandemic/ pandemic makes me want to focus in harder on reminding y’all 2 stay golden n boost the immune!"

Akon Gets Reamed Out By Fans For Collaborating With 6ix9ine
It looks like Akon is actually collaborating with 6ix9ine after all, and his fans are not happy.
Fans clowned Akon to no end for actually going ahead and collaborating with 6ix9ine, after the rapper posted a clip of them vibing to their unreleased song "Locked Up Part 2," a remix of Akon's 2006 track of the same name. It's no secret how Akon feels about 6ix9ine, as the singer has defended his snitching ways on multiple occasions, insisting that he would've done the same thing. The two of them were even supposed to go head-to-head for a hit battle last month, but it never panned out. Akon might be one of the only artists in the industry that still associates themselves with 6ix9ine—at least publicly—so it should come as no surprise that the two of them are working together, but for some reason, it still does.
6ix9ine posted the clip of the two of them previewing the remix on Sunday (June 7th), and it didn't take long for fans to pass judgement on Akon for his questionable choice of a collaborator. 6ix9ine's curious rainbow wig was also a big point of focus, for obvious reasons.
6ix9ine & Akon Link Up And Preview "Locked Up Part 2"
Tekashi 6ix9ine is looking to remix a classic Akon song and the legend is standing right by his side.
Ever since 6ix9ine came home from jail, legendary artist Akon has been going to bat for him. Akon defended why 6ix9ine ended up snitching on his fellow gang members and at one point, Akon seemed to be interested in doing a hit battle with Tekashi. Now, the two are going even farther with their newfound friendship as Akon has been hanging out at 6ix9ine’s house where the rainbow-haired rapper has his very own makeshift studio.
In the clip below, Tekashi and Akon are jamming out to a brand new track in which 6ix9ine speaks on being thrown in prison. Akon can be seen bobbing his head and eventually, we hear his hook from the classic track “Locked Up.” In 6ix9ine’s post, he refers to the song as “Locked Up Part 2” and that he is currently in album mode.
6ix9ine urged his fans to comment on the IG post and said that if he gets 100,000 comments, he will release the song. Tekashi has been teasing another track over the past few weeks and it was originally going to come out on June 5th but it got pushed back to June 12th.
With this latest collaboration in mind, perhaps there really is some steam to this whole 6ix9ine comeback tour.
6ix9ine Challenges Akon To A Hit Battle On IG Live, Akon Accepts
Akon accepted 6ix9ine challenge to go hit-for-hit with him in an Instagram live battle, but it's likely that the latter is just trolling.
The unlikeliest of pairings may be going head-to-head in a battle of their biggest hits, and honestly, we kind of hope it happens. On Saturday (May 16th), Akon took to his Instagram story to reveal to his followers that he'd been challenged to a hit battle by the most surprising and non-sensical potential opponent imaginable: Tekashi 6ix9ine.
"@6ix9ine just challenged me to a battle tomorrow at 3:30pm Live on IG," Akon wrote on a screenshot of himself and 6ix9ine on Facetime. "IT'S ON." So, will these two really be stepping into the metaphorical ring later today? Well, most likely not. Ever since the recently incarcerated rapper made his comeback earlier this month, he's been back on his usual bullshit, trolling people left and right and monumentally pissing people off. It appears as though Akon is just the most recent victim of 6ix9ine's relentless antics, especially considering he's since deleted the Instagram story announcing the battle. However, if this really does happen, it'll certainly be a memorable affair. Somebody get Timbaland and Swizz Beatz on the phone!

While, musically speaking, Akon and 6xi9ine certainly aren't similar enough to compete against one another, their apparent friendship isn't totally out of the blue, as Akon has proved to be one of 6ix9ine's only allies in the industry. Around the time that 6ix9ine was sentenced last fall, Akon defended his decision to snitch in court, and once he was released from prison last month, the singer reiterated his initial remarks about the situation.

Guapdad 4000, Curren$y, & Joey Bada$$ Flip An Akon Classic
Guapdad 4000 launches his fifth installment of “Rona Raps,” featuring guest verses from Joey Bada$$ and Curren$y.
Guapdad 4000 has been filling the void left by the absence of proper radio freestyles, which has all but ensured a scarcity of BARS. Thanks to his ongoing collaborative series Rona Raps, currently enjoying its fifth week, Guap has been ably keeping the spirit alive. With previous appearances from Buddy, Chris Brown, Denzel Curry, Wiz Khalifa, Rich Brian, and Lil Yachty, his fifth episode finds him calling on Joey Bada$$ and Curren$y to lay waste to an Akon classic.

Though he’s in esteemed company, Guap once again proves he’s among the game’s wittiest punchline rappers. “Skeet skeet on a pastor’s daughter at the church rap, she gave me big top on Sundays – that’s my church hat,” he raps. “Grill bounce light off my face, that’s solar flexin / give her something light in her stomach, that solar plexus.” Joey Bada$$ slides in next, his reflection on the current state of affairs appropriately bleak. “2020 vision shit that I done foreseen, walking outside shit looking like a horror scene,” he raps. “Can’t even cop no groceries without no glove and mask / everybody lookin’ like they bout to do a dash.”
It’s Curren$y, however, who steals the show with a dexterous update on his own situation. “I just copped a Rolls truck and I can’t roll around, unless I’m going to the store for somethin’ essential,” laments Spitta. “Lysol, toilet tissue, plastic cups, liquor, sour skittles / Hot Wheels i buy for my son? my grown ass, I be in the house playing with him.” Check it out for yourself, and should it make you want to revisit Akon and Styles P‘s classic “Locked Up,” take comfort in knowing that you wouldn’t be alone.
Akon Defends 6ix9ine For Snitching
Akon explains why he's still riding for Tekashi 6ix9ine, defending the rapper during a conversation with DJ Whoo Kid.
Right around the time Tekashi 6ix9ine was being sentenced last year, Akon spoke about the case and stated that he understands why the rapper ratted out all of his buddies.
"With Tekashi it's a little different because he comes from a generation that really didn't have no moral ethic," he said in an interview. "I can't really speak on why he would do that, but most likely it's for the obvious reasons. But everyone goes through something in their lives that propels them to do things that they feel is in the best interest of themselves. And I think, you really can't blame him, if what he's saying is the truth."
Now that the rainbow-haired artist is out of prison, he's singing that same tune, even going one step further and referring to the Brooklyn star as his "lil man."

In a conversation with DJ Whoo Kid, which took place on Instagram Live, Akon explained why he's still defending 6ix9ine.
"He had to literally decide, ‘What’s more valuable to me?’ My family or my future," says Akon. "You have to make a decision that’s going to better you."
He believes that snitching is viewed differently across generations, no longer affecting the youth as it did back in the day. If Akon or DJ Whoo Kid would have told on all their partners, their careers would be over. However, because of 6ix9ine's age, Akon thinks he's being given a second chance.

Lovers & Friends Festival Adds Second Day & Changes Lineup
Saturday will feature a slightly different lineup than Friday, but both are amazing!
Lovers & Friends Festival is definitely making a splash for its inaugural year. The glitzy poster that unveiled the lineup last week had people close to tears as the festival of their 90’s/early 2000’s dreams would finally come true. It boasted Ms. Lauryn Hill, TLC, and the trio of Usher, Ludacris and Lil Jon as headliners. Other throwback acts set to appear were Nelly, Ginuwine, Twista, Brandy, Monica, Lil Kim, Ja Rule and many more. The Los Angeles event also grabbed some talent from the new school like Jhene Aiko and Summer Walker.
However, after the poster started circulating online, some artists listed on it alleged that they were not even aware of the festival. People questioned whether Lovers & Friends was too good to be true and would suffer a similar fate as the disgraced Fyre Fest. This speculation was quashed by some of the festival’s organizers and sponsors validating its legitimacy. Snoop Dogg, who is one of the bookers, advised people not to fret and dedicated himself to securing a Lil Kim performance after she claimed she was never contacted about the fest.
While Lil Kim has officially signed on to appear, others acts on the initial bill have been removed, including Megan Thee Stallion, Monica, Next and Ginuwine were removed. There is no need to despair though, because the promoter Goldenvoice has announced that Doja Cat, Akon, Donell Jones and Mya have been added to the lineup. Furthermore, the festival has been extended to span two days to meet popular demand. The lineups will not be the same on the Friday and Saturday dates (May 8 & 9).
Tickets for both days have already sold out, but you can sign up for a waitlist here.
