For decades, Maury has been entertaining daytime television audiences with its outrageous guests. People from all walks of life have taken to host Maury Povich's stage to share explosive details about their unbelievable personal relationships. 'You are/are not the father!" has become a staple in pop culture, but as loved as the Maury phenomenon may be, Ari Lennox isn't letting the show get away with allegedly making fun of the physical features of black people.

The First Lady of Dreamville is often outspoken on her social media platforms. Ari Lennox has never had any issue with speaking her mind, so when she believed The Maury Show was teasing a person about big noses, she had a message for the television show. A person on Twitter shared a photo of a black father and son with the caption, "No DNA test needed in this case right?" as they tagged Maury. The show retweeted the post with an addition: "He nose he's the father."
Ari saw the exchange and wrote, "And f*ck you Maury." People immediately came after the singer, accusing her of being too sensitive about a joke. Yet, there were others who came to her defense, accusing shows like Maury and The Jerry Springer Show of exploiting marginalized communities for entertainment and profit. In the past, Ari has been teased about her nose, so it can be a touchy subject for the Soul singer. Read through a few messages below.
Ari Lennox Says Worst Part Of Success Is "People Judging Your Every Move"
Ari Lennox penned a lengthy post about her regrets, in which she condemned her critics for not allowing her to be herself and “judging [her] every move.”
Ari Lennox took to Instagram to tell the world how she really feels about being in the public eye. As Ari began growing a larger and larger following following the release of her debut album, Shea Butter Baby, last year, she became known for her outspokenness on platforms like Instagram live. The singer has gained a reputation for being unapologetically honest and has received her fair share of backlash for some controversial statements as a result. On Wednesday, she decided to pen a lengthy message in a post featuring a photo of herself as a young girl to outline the key problems with being a celebrity.
“Man I wish I could start over,” she began. “Go back to this girl. Wish I never showed the world my personality. Wish I never did an ig live. Wish I wasn’t so naive. Wish I never loved as hard as I do. Wish I was smarter. Honestly wish this was a world where you could be free and not judged. Where you could speak your mind and people understand context without tearing down people.”

“Me opening up myself to the world has only damaged my career,” she continued, “but realistically how many people really vouching for soul in mainstream? I felt my personality helped but it hasn’t. I literally can’t be a carefree woman. I have to live a lie because people are so judgmental and self righteous. Like even if I was insecure that makes people feel good stating that aloud? Even if I was all these things what’s the point in going out your way to say it? If I never returned to social media could it really erase everything’s happened? No. But I’m going to try.”

“I really just want things to be about the music,” Ari concluded. “If I’m going to be this imperfect woman, I need to be it off the grid. You think priding yourself on my weakness makes you so righteous? It’s wild crazy. B*tches can’t even be carefree. People think the industry is the worst part of being successful, no it’s the people judging your every move.” While it’s unclear whether Ari will be taking a social media hiatus or not, she definitely seems to be fed up with all the scrutiny she’s faced since becoming famous.
Keyshia Cole Tells Ari Lennox She Felt "Unprotected" During O.T. Genasis Feud
Keyshia Cole & Ari Lennox hopped on Instagram Live and discussed the “Love” singer’s feud with O.T. Genasis.
She just wanted O.T. Genasis to respect the art that she created, but unfortunately, the back and forth between the rapper and members of Keyshia Cole‘s family has turned verbally vicious. After chopping and screwing Keyshia’s hit song “Love” to create his chuckle-worthy, Crip-heavy track “Never Knew,” the singer wasn’t thrilled. When Keyshia Cole vocalized her disapproval, O.T. Genasis seemed to take things personally and unleashed a barrage of insults.
Over the past few weeks, things have kicked up a notch as he’s talked about Keyshia’s private area and teased her mother for her drug addiction, resulting in Keyshia’s siblings to step into the ring. They’ve even insulted Malika Haqq, O.T.’s baby mama, making the situation even worse. In a recent Instagram Live session with Ari Lennox, Keyshia spoke openly about the exchange and said she felt “unprotected” and bullied throughout.

Before Keyshia brought up her beef with O.T. Genasis, she and Ari were talking about the right to carry firearms. “That’s why I was so…like honestly—I’m just not going to talk about that situation—but it just pissed me off so much because you know, at a time that everybody was going through so much in the Black community, getting killed and all that, getting pulled over and getting killed, and then you wanna do a whole song that I wrote about love and make it about shooting and killing and bang-banging,” she said. “It’s like, yoooo, sir. And then get mad that I say that I don’t like what you did like, turned the integrity of my music. And then just bully and bully and continue to bully.”
Keyshia added that she spoke with hip hop legend MC Lyte about the situation. “I was just saying how it felt like I was so unprotected,” she continued. The singer said that anytime she did try to speak up for herself, she felt as if things just escalated. “It was like no, ‘You come from the hood. You really ain’t sh*t. Your mom was on drugs your whole life. You don’t really have a right to what you feel about what you’ve created.’ More so like, ‘Lighten up. Why are you taking everything so seriously? It was just a joke.'”
When things turned nasty, Keyshia said she actually attempted to connect with O.T. Genasis by using some of her industry connections. “Like, ‘Do you know this guy? Like…is he okay? What’s going on? Is he stressed out?’” she said she asked. “I don’t know, what the hell… It should have been more so like… ‘My agenda didn’t fit your agenda. I apologize for that. I didn’t mean no disrespect when I did it.’ Then it would have just been the end of that instead of it having to be a thing.” Watch Keyshia Cole and Ari Lennox below.
Usher & DVSN Blow Up This Week’s "R&B Season" Playlist
Usher’s reunion track with Ludacris and Lil Jon, along with dvsn’s slow jam with Ty Dolla $ign and Banju Banton, highlight our “R&B Season” playlist this week.
The long-awaited reunion of past collaborators Usher, Ludacris, and Lil Jon, as well as dvsn, Ty Dolla $ign, and Banju Banton linking up are just a few reasons that this week’s “R&B Season” playlist is looking hot as hell. As usual, we’ve been keeping our specially-curated “R&B Season” playlist updated with the best R&B offerings, and this week we’ve racked up a few essential additions.
Of course, the highly-anticipated “SexBeat” from Usher, Ludacris, and Lil Jon made the cut, marking the official reunion of the iconic trio behind 2004’s “Yeah!” and “Lovers & Friends.” Although fans were made aware that such a collaboration existed back in November, Jon built the hype way up during his beat battle with T-Pain over Instagram live last weekend when he played almost the entire track. In the days to follow, fans begged Usher to let Jon drop it as a single ASAP, since Usher had initially intended to release it on his upcoming album, Confessions III. However, we were officially treated to the raunchy yet romantic “SexBeat” on Friday, and it was well worth the 16-year wait.
Dvsn also came through with a dope new single featuring the likes of Ty Dolla $ign and Banju Banton, titled, “Dangerous City.” The single is the latest from the OVO duo as they gear up for the release of their album, A Muse in Her Feelings, their first since 2017’s Morning After. We’ve also included another track from Kiana Ledé’s new album, KIKI, this week, this time highlighting the Ari-Lennox-featured “Chocolate.” And make sure to check out “On The Road” from up-and-comer, Young Rog. Get into our updated “R&B Season” playlist below and don’t forget to follow our other specially-curated playlists.

Ari Lennox Shoots Her Shot At 21 Savage In His IG Live Comments
Ari Lennox was really feeling 21 Savage while he was singing some R&B classics on Instagram live.
Ari Lennox got pretty flirtatious with 21 Savage in the comments of his recent Instagram live session, where he sang his heart out to a myriad of R&B hits. IG live has been pretty poppin’ lately, with Tory Lanez‘s Quarantine Radio and all the beat battles between legendary producers. 21 Savage recently hopped on to give his followers an incredible karaoke performance of some R&B classics, including songs by Beyoncé, Usher, Aaliyah, Brandy, and many more. Ari Lennox was among the viewers that tuned into 21’s at-home “concert,” and while his vocal abilities may not be top notch, she was really feeling the show. Not only were 21’s R&B renditions hilarious and low key wholesome, but they also had Ari liking what she was seeing.
“Oh you are fine as hell,” she commented while he was in the middle of singing. As a veteran IG live streamer, Ari herself has had people shoot their shot at her in the comments on occasion, including LaKeith Stanfield. Ari was discussing LaKeith’s role in the film, The Photograph, on live a few weeks ago, complaining to him about having to see the movie in theatres all by herself. LaKeith, who was watching, proceeded to ask her to go with him once theatres opened up again, commenting, “Can you be my date? Let’s go.” Ari freaked out at the invitation, stumbling over her words from the sheer excitement that he was asking her out. It looks like once quarantine is over, she’ll have to choose between LaKeith and 21, if the rapper catches wind of how thirsty she is for him.
Ari Lennox Shares Hateful DM Following Snoop Dogg Post
Ari Lennox once again faces backlash on social media, taking a moment to clap back at a hater in the DMs.
Yesterday, Ari Lennox found herself on the receiving end of some scathing Snoop Dogg commentary, which ultimately served to spark a social discourse. Though Lennox ultimately laughed it off with a playful clap-back at her “Uncle’s” expense, the damage was already done. The court of public opinion found themselves taking issue with Lennox’s response, with some particularly hateful individuals sliding into her DMs to voice their displeasure.

For some context, the crux of the criticism seemed to arise as a response to Ari’s recent teardown of Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King, a rant that ultimately left her taking a step back from social media for a while. Today, Lennox took to Instagram to share a screenshot of a hater’s scorn, in which she is deemed a hypocrite and a “clown” for targeting black women while letting black men slide without a hitch.
“Y’all want to know why I respond,” she captions, alongside the message that incited her displeasure. “He woke up the evil soulless hoteps hoteptresses. How do y’all have so much hate. This is literally all y’all do with your lives hate Black people so much? Self hate is so real. Leave me alone.” Unfortunately, Lennox has yet to find the serenity she seems to want on social media, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see her step back from her various platforms once again.
Ari Lennox Gives Snoop Dogg A Taste Of His Own Medicine
Ari Lennox responds to Snoop Dogg with a photo of the rapper in a wig after he called her out for her fake hair.
Following Ari Lennox’s hilarious battle against her wig on Instagram Live, Snoop Dogg had a few comments to get off his chest.
“Grow your own hair what happened to those days,” said the 48-year-old rapper in the comments to the video of the Dreamville singer struggling with her lace-front.
Ari Lennox has officially responded to the legend and she is just as humorous in her clap-back as she was while complaining about her hair.
“Uncle I just…I just thought we had an understanding,” wrote Ari Lennox on Instagram, sharing a picture of Snoop Dogg in drag, rocking a blonde soccer mom wig and clear glasses.
Lennox may be giving the Doggfather a taste of his own medicine with this post but she’s also proving that she can take a joke. In order to laugh about this, she’s got to have a good sense of humor.
The singer’s live-streams have been must-watch for the last little while. Just a few days ago, the songstress freaked out when Lakeith Stanfield asked her out on a date, acting flabbergasted and losing her words for a few minutes. Now, after struggling to fix her wig, she’s earning relatability points with all the women out there.
Take a look at what Ari had to say below.
Snoop Dogg Tells Ari Lennox: "Grown Your Own Hair"
Snoop Dogg commented on a clip of Ari Lennox struggling to glue her lace front wig onto her scalp, telling her, “grow your own hair.”
Snoop Dogg had some unsolicited advice for Ari Lennox amid her wig-gluing struggles: “grown your own hair.” The R&B star, who is notorious for constantly documenting her antics on Instagram live, invited her followers to watch as she attempted to secure her new wig onto her head. Ari was having some trouble getting the lace to glue properly to her scalp, narrating the journey along the way. “So I guess I gotta cut more lace?” sherhetorically asked her viewers. When one keen observer advised her to use a wig cap for better stability, she asked, “Where am I supposed to get a wig cap?” She seemed to eventually have some luck, praying to the lord for the wig to stay in place all the while, but it was not without some difficulty.
Snoop Dogg came across Ari’s obstacles with her tresses on an IG post by The Shade Room, where the account pointed out that she was “having the fight of her life with that wig.” Snoop proceeded to respond with some (lowkey shady) advice about how she could overcome these challenges. “Grown your own hair,” he wrote on the post. “What happened to those days[?]”
It’s an interesting comment to make, considering Ari is almost always seen wearing her hair natural, styled in some kind of updo like a top bun or a ponytail. Ari also indirectly came to Snoop’s defence not too long ago after he slammed Gayle King for her controversial Kobe question, by siding with Snoop about Gayle and Oprah allegedly trying to “tear down the legacies of phenomenal black men.” She has yet to respond to Snoop’s comment about her hair.

A majorly R&B-infused track off the album is “12.38,” which you’ll be sure to find among our picks on “R&B Season.” Finally, we’ve also included Alina Baraz’s latest single, “More Than Enough,” for your listening pleasure. Not only that, she’s really doubling down on the help, opting to release the remix EP for Shea Butter Baby this Friday. She revealed the news on Instagram, unveiling a “remixed” cover art in the process. Her original, nude-themed and muted artwork which showcased her elegantly posing is swapped for something a bit bolder, and much more orange, while her pose is equally has a bit more swagger and give-no-fucks attitude to it.
While she hasn’t left us any details as to what we might expect from the remix EP, we are excited to add this one into the Quarantine Life rotation.
