Stephen A. Smith Suggests Dramatic Punishment For The Astros
Stephen A. has had enough with the cheating Astros.
Perhaps one of the biggest stories in sports over the last little while has been the Houston Astros and how they were caught stealing signs. The Astros had a fairly elaborate plan that saw them bang on trash cans and partake in a whole lot of antics just so they could have a leg up on opposing pitchers. Thanks to this strategy, the Astros were able to win the World Series in 2017 and were even the runners up in 2019. In light of this discovery, baseball players and fans have been up in arms. Despite this, Major League Baseball has decided not to punish the players and people want answers.
Today on First Take, Smith blasted the Astros for their cheating ways and suggested a way to make things right. As he explains, they should have their championship taken away which means every player should give back their rings. He also thinks it would behoove the league to ban the Astros from the playoffs for at least one season.
Smith's suggestion might sound dramatic but for many, it would certainly be warranted. The Astros have acted with a disgraceful amount of hubris over this whole situation and seem to be content with how it all played out. If the team were to give up their title, we're sure they wouldn't be so quick to deflect the blame off of themselves.
What do you think should have happened to the Astros?
Tim Tebow Has Reportedly Engaged In Talks With The XFL
Tim Tebow hasn’t played professional football in a very long time.
Tim Tebow was one of the most controversial quarterbacks in the NFL when he played for the Denver Broncos. He wasn’t controversial for any sort of misconduct. In fact, it was his play that made him the polarizing figure he is today. Simply put, Tebow wasn’t very good at throwing the football. However, he was able to run the ball extremely well and was always able to find unique ways to win. Regardless, he was ousted from the league after a few seasons of mediocrity and hasn’t been back on the field, ever since.
Now, Tebow is looking to become a professional baseball player and realize a dream he’s had since he was a kid. According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, Tebow recently reconsidered his baseball goals and even reached out to the XFL. After some preliminary talks, Tebow realized it would be better to return to baseball although he quite complimentary of the new league.

Per Tebow:
“We had a couple conversations. But it was pretty clear that this was — I love what they’re doing. I think it has a chance to have success. And I think that’s great. And so I think there needs to be a place for a lot of players that are really good and should and could be playing in the NFL and are better than a lot of NFL players. And there’s a chance they’re going to be seen. So I think it’s awesome and I think it’s good for a lot of guys that are going to get a spot on an NFL roster because they’re going show a team that they’re worth it. But for me this is what I wanted to do and pursuit it and be all in and just, yeah.”
If Tebow has a change of heart and quits baseball, the XFL could certainly be a great option for him, especially if the league is able to continue past this season.
OJ Simpson Blasts MLB Hall Of Fame Voter Who Snubbed Derek Jeter
The Juice is less than impressed.
Ever since being released from prison a few years ago, OJ Simpson has been doing his best to keep a low profile while out in public. It wasn't until recently that the former NFL player began making Twitter videos where he gives his opinion on a wide range of topics including politics, sports, and fantasy football. Yesterday, Simpson was particularly perturbed after it was revealed that Derek Jeter was one vote shy of unanimously making it to the Baseball Hall of Fame. Many have been trying to figure out who the voter was and some are even calling for them to be banned from voting.
Simpson seems to be one of the voices as he took to Twitter to condemn the anonymous voter. As Simpson explained, Jeter's talent and impact on the sport are undeniable which makes it crazy for him not to be voted unanimously. Simpson thinks the writer should have his voting right revoked.
He also suggested the writer might be Boston considering Red Sox fans hate those who played for the Yankees. Either way, Simpson is upset and wants to see some kind of justice here.
Simpson also spoke about the Super Bowl and how he is betting on the San Francisco 49ers. Clearly, OJ has some strong opinions when it comes to the world of sports.

Houston Astros Hit With Massive Penalties After Cheating Scandal
The Astros 2017 World Series has been brought into question.
It's been a wild few months for the Houston Astros after they were defeated by the Washington Nationals in the World Series. The Astros won the World Series back in 2017 so their World Series appearance in 2019 was supposed to be a celebration of their continued growth. However, it was soon reported that the Astros engaged in sign-stealing during their run in 2017 and that Major League Baseball would begin an in-depth investigation. After months of interviews and footage reviews, the league has determined that the Astros did, in fact, break the rules.
According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, the Astros general manager, Jeff Luhnow and manager, AJ Hinch, will be suspended for the entirety of next season. Not to mention, the team will be fined $5 million and will have to give up their first and second-round picks in the 2020 and 2021 drafts.
This is a huge blow for the Astros although it's certainly an expected one. The Astros are fairly hated by baseball fans at this point and with this latest punishment in mind, fans are waiting for even more justice to be doled out. There could be even more sanctions on the way so stay tuned as we will be sure to bring you the latest.
