Suede Announce ‘Coming Up’ 30th Anniversary Reissue
Suede have officially announced plans for a 30th-anniversary reissue of their landmark 1996 album Coming Up, alongside a comprehensive 12-inch singles collection. The record, which served as the band’s third studio effort, was a defining moment of the Britpop era, reaching Number One on the UK albums chart and securing a Mercury Prize nomination.
The reissue, arriving September 25 via Demon Music, will be available in multiple formats, including a 5CD deluxe box set, half-speed mastered black vinyl, and various coloured vinyl editions. The collection features restored artwork, B-sides, BBC sessions, and new stereo mixes by Steven Wilson. Fans can also look forward to Atmos and 5.1 mixes available on Blu-ray audio.
Reflecting on the album’s creation, guitarist Richard Oakes noted: “You’re at your most creative in a band if you’ve got something to kick against and Coming Up was us doing that. It was like, ‘No, we’re not done. Just you watch’.”
To mark the announcement, the band has shared a rare BBC recording of ‘Beautiful Ones’ from a 1996 Radio 1 session.
Frontman Brett Anderson recently emphasized that the band remains focused on the present rather than dwelling on nostalgia. “The last thing I ever wanted Suede to be was a nostalgia act,” he stated. “I’ve always felt like we’re out on our own.”
In addition to the album reissue, Suede will launch a 12-inch singles collection, starting with a 30th-anniversary pressing of ‘Trash’ on August 14. The band is also preparing for a co-headline tour with Manic Street Preachers, beginning in Glasgow on October 28.
