St. John's University has fired its fencing coach, Boris Vaksman, after a video showing Vaksman on a racist tirade surfaced online.
"The most trouble coming from where? From black people because they don’t want to work," Vaksman says. "They steal, they kill, they drugs, everything comes from them. The majority, the majority.
“I think, what’s his name, Lincoln, made a mistake,” he added, likely referencing the Emancipation Proclamation.
The video was taken from a Zoom call recorded on June 3, during a youth coaching session for Fencer’s Club, a private fencing club in Manhattan, according to The New York Daily News.
The school quickly responded by firing Vaksman and posting a statement from Director of Athletics Mike Cragg on the university's Twitter account: “As soon as the recording was brought to our attention the matter was immediately investigated and the individual was terminated by the University. The racist comments expressed are completely unacceptable and a rejection of everything that the University stands for."
USA Fencing also responded to the video saying, "We are disgusted by these statements, which are racist, offensive and have no place in the USA Fencing community or in society as a whole. USA Fencing stands with our black athletes and all underrepresented minorities within the fencing family and will conduct an immediate investigation."
Vaksman began coaching at St. John's University in 2006.

Gregg Popovich Offers Scathing Rant On Donald Trump
Gregg Popovich is beyond upset with the way the President has handled the George Floyd protests.
Gregg Popovich is just like Steve Kerr in the sense that he is an NBA coach who has no problem with voicing his opinion on very pressing political issues. The latest big topic that everyone has on their mind right now is police brutality. Following the death of George Floyd, protesters have hit the streets of the United States to stand up against all of the injustices that have been committed over the last few centuries.
President Donald Trump has done nothing but tweet since the start of the protests and people are extremely upset with his lack of leadership. During a conversation with Dave Zirin of The Nation, Popovich spoke on Trump’s divisiveness and delivered a scathing rant in the process.

Per Popovich:
“He’s not just divisive. He’s a destroyer. To be in his presence makes you die. He will eat you alive for his own purposes. I’m appalled that we have a leader who can’t say ‘Black Lives Matter.’ That’s why he hides in the White House basement. He is a coward. He creates a situation and runs away like a grade-schooler. Actually, I think it’s best to ignore him. There is nothing he can do to make this better because of who he is: a deranged idiot.”
These are very strong words although many are feeling the exact same way right now, especially those who play in the NBA. Popovich has always had the backs of his players and these comments are further proof of that.

Kevin Durant’s Role In Kenny Atkinson Firing Revealed
Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving reportedly led the charge in the Brooklyn Nets coaching change.
Kevin Durant is one of the NBA’s loudest voices and when he speaks, people tend to listen, especially his peers. The two-time NBA champion joined the Brooklyn Nets during the summer and he was joined by none other than Kyrie Irving. This season, Durant has been sitting out due to a lingering ruptured Achilles injury. Despite this absence from the court, Durant has been keeping his influence on the team at a maximum.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Durant and Irving recently led the charge in getting head coach Kenny Atkinson fired by the team. It was believed that Durant and Kyrie didn’t see Atkinson as a championship-caliber head coach and recently called him out in a meeting. During an appearance on the Glue Guys podcast, Charania expounded on what Durant’s role was in all of this.

”When he chimed in and pointed out that ‘Listen we have to improve our habits, this is not how you build a culture of championship contention.’ When Kevin Durant speaks, everyone listens and I think that was definitely a major critical moment in this thing as well,” Charania said.
The Brooklyn Nets have struggled at times this season and boast a record of 29-34 which is good enough for seventh in the Eastern Conference. Some of the head coaches being suggested for next year are Ty Lue, Mark Jackson, and even Tom Thibodeau.
Dwight Howard Speaks Out On Jeanie Buss’ Mike D’Antoni Diss
Dwight Howard's first stint in Los Angeles didn't exactly end on good terms.
Dwight Howard is currently playing for the Los Angeles Lakers and he's been having himself a nice season. After years of falling off, Howard is back to playing at a high level, even if he's more of a role player than anything else. Howard's play is in stark contrast with how things went down with the Los Angeles Lakers almost ten years ago. Howard played well under his potential while in Los Angeles and eventually left the team in free agency back in 2013.
During a recent conference, Lakers part-owner Jeanie Buss spoke about Howard's resurgence with the Lakers and even took some shots at Mike D'Antoni, saying the Houston Rockets head coach didn't know how to utilize Howard properly. According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Howard replied to these remarks but opted to steer clear of any controversy.
Howard explained how he actually loves D'Antoni and that the system just simply didn't work the way he intended it to. Howard knows he could have played better and has nothing but respect for his former coach. He even said that he didn't want to speak ill of anyone although he thanks Buss for defending his honor.
Howard has matured quite a bit since 2013 which is something that truly came out in these comments. It's nice to see Howard thriving in Los Angeles, late in his career.
Bill Belichick Reportedly Wouldn’t Mind Saying Bye To Tom Brady
The Patriots have a big decision to make.
Heading into this offseason, New England Patriots legend Tom Brady will be in a position he's never truly felt before. Of course, we're talking about how he is set to become a free agent for the first time in his career. The Patriots are one of the greatest dynasties we have ever seen and Brady is a huge part of that. Head coach Bill Belichick and Brady have been one of the most formidable duos in sports history and it could all come crashing down in March.
There have been various rumors that Brady doesn't want to come back and is looking elsewhere. Meanwhile, some sources say both sides are doing everything possible to reunite for next season. During an appearance on WEEI, Tom Curran NBC Sports said it wouldn't be hard for Belichick to say goodbye if he has to.
“At a price, yeah. From all I’ve gathered, he would prefer to have Tom playing QB in 2020…if it comes to a crossroads, [Belichick] can easily get his mind around saying goodbye [to Brady] as well," Curran said.
It's almost impossible to imagine Brady on any team other than the Patriots so it will be interesting to see how the free agent period plays out. In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned for updates as we will be sure to bring them to you.
Titans’ Coach Mike Vrabel Reneges On Claim To Cut Penis Off
Vrabel would like to clarify his past statement on the topic.
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has taken the time to clarify that he will not be cutting his penis off if his team wins the Super Bowl.
Over the summer, when the Titans' Super Bowl hopes were merely a long shot, Vrabel appeared on the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast and said he would cut his dick off for a Super Bowl. Below, is a transcription.
Lewan: Matt Neely (an assistant for the show) said he would cut off his dick for a, uno, Super Bowl, and I said, No I would not do that. Would you cut your dick off for a Super Bowl?
Vrabel: Been married 20 years. Yeah, probably.
With the Titans now only two wins away from being Super Bowl champions, many fans are wondering if he'll follow through on the statement. Sports Illustrated's Charlotte Wilder asked Vrabel about it after the Titans win over the Ravens.
"Listen, I didn’t want to disappoint Taylor and Will when I went on the podcast," Vrabel told Wilder. "I knew they were gonna ask me things that probably, if I just clammed up, [the show] wouldn't be very fun. So I tried to make it as fun as possible."
The Titans will play the winner of the Chiefs-Texans matchup next weekend.
Bill Cowher Elected Into Pro Football’s Hall Of Fame
Congrats to Bill Cowher, who was selected into Pro Football's Hall of Fame.
It appears Bill Cowher is heading into the Hall of Fame. The former Pittsburgh Steelers coach was just named into the Pro Football Hall of Fame's centennial class on Saturday, when President David Baker informed Cowher of his selection live on air during CBS’ NFL Today program before the Titans & Ravens game.
“Football is a total team sport,” Cowher said while fighting back tears. “I had some great players, some great coaches, the best organization in football. I’ve lived a blessed life. I’ve come to the best network on TV. It’s a family here, like it was a family that we had there. And to have to give back just something to the game of football, that’s been a part of my life, the virtues that it teaches you, the morals that you have the obligation to move on, the platforms that we have, you know, I’m a blessed man and I’ve been very blessed to have been surrounded by some very special people.”
Cowher, a Crafton, PA native who went to Carlynton High School, won one Super Bowl, won eight division titles and made the playoffs in 10 of his 15 years with the Steelers.
"Just thinking about the Pittsburgh franchise and Dan Rooney when he hired me," Cowher added, before joking, "My first goal was just not to get fired before my 20th high school reunion.’’
The centennial class was selected by a blue ribbon panel this past week. The remainder of the 15-member class of enshrinees will be revealed Wednesday morning.
Congrats to Bill Cowher on the election.
Dallas Cowboys’ New Head Coach Revealed, NFL Fans React
Well, that was quick.
This past weekend, it was announced that the Dallas Cowboys would officially be moving on from head coach Jason Garrett. After ten years, Garrett only managed two playoff wins which simply isn't good enough. Owner Jerry Jones was looking for better results and Garrett was a scapegoat for all of it. Even before Garrett's firing, it was reported that the Cowboys were interviewing a whole slew of candidates, including former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
Today, it was reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports that the Cowboys were officially signing McCarthy which means the team has a new head coach. McCarthy's tenure in Green Bay didn't exactly end on a positive note although it's important to remember that McCarthy won a Super Bowl during his time there.
This recent signing is huge news as it takes one of the biggest head coaching free agents off of the market. Numerous teams were interviewing McCarthy and now, they will have to look elsewhere. The Cowboys coaching job is certainly an attractive position as the team is loaded with talent and has the potential to be great.

Jason Garrett Will Reportedly Be Fired By The Cowboys, Fans React
Cowboys fans have been waiting for this.
Jason Garrett has become one of the most popular sports figures on this site over the last week thanks to his status with the Dallas Cowboys. The former NFL QB has been the team's head coach since 2010 and has only been able to bring them to three playoff appearances. Despite a plethora of talent, the Cowboys haven't made it past the divisional round since Garrett took over which is certainly grounds for dismissal. After missing the playoffs this season, fans were anticipating Garrett's firing. After a few days of uncertainty, it appears as though the time has finally come.
According to Ed Werder of ESPN, the Cowboys have been exercising caution with Garrett although it seems like they have finally decided to part ways. For now, the Cowboys won't confirm if Garrett has been fired although Werder reports that the team will be moving on from Garrett and that new coaching candidates will be interviewed.
The Cowboys made this process quite confusing and nervewracking for fans. Owner Jerry Jones has always been shy when it comes to firing people and when it comes to Garrett, he's been even timider. Regardless, the results speak for themselves and Garrett hasn't given the team much reason to keep him.

Conor McGregor Reportedly In His Best Shape Yet Ahead Of UFC 246
McGregor's return is almost here.
Conor McGregor is making his highly-anticipated return to the Octagon on January 18th against none other than Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone. This is a fight many people have been waiting for so, of course, both fighters have been training hard for it. The last time we saw McGregor in the Octagon, he was defeated by Khabib Nurmagomedov back in 2018. At this point, McGregor needs a win to keep himself relevant in the sport. If he can't pull that off, there is a real chance he may never get a big fight again.
Having said all of that, it looks like McGregor is doing everything he can to prepare himself for UFC 246. Yesterday, McGregor's coach John Kavanagh took to Twitter where he bragged about McGregor's conditioning. As he explains, this is the best we've ever seen McGregor. If you're a fan of his, this is some great news.
In many ways, it's the coach's job to hype up his fighter so this recent tweet shouldn't come as a surprise. Only time will tell whether or not he is speaking the truth. If McGregor is, in fact, in the best shape of his life, we will certainly be in for an amazing fight.
