The Weeknd Weighs In On Usher & Diplo "Climax" Controversy


The Weeknd admitted that he was a little angry after hearing Usher’s song “Climax” for the first time and he’s now clarifying the confusion behind that comment.

The Weeknd turned heads when he spoke about Usher‘s song “Climax” in an interview this week, revealing that he was slightly angry after listening to it for the first time.

“I heard ‘Climax,’ that Usher song, and was like, ‘Holy fuck, that’s a Weeknd song,'” said Abel Tesfaye. Recognizing that Usher had taken inspiration from his sound, The Weeknd admits that he was flattered but angry about the song. After Usher commented on the remarks, The Weeknd has been forced to explain what he meant.

Updating his Instagram Story, the Toronto native has officially weighed in on the controversy.

“Of course media blows things out of proportion and takes things out of context,” said The Weeknd, quoting a tweet by Diplo, who helped write the song. “Usher is a King and always an inspiration so it was flattering to hear what him and Diplo did on climax. XO.”

The post that Abel included is from Diplo, who admits that “Climax” borrowed elements from House of Balloons-era Weeknd. 

“The idea of R&B having dark edges was what I wanted to bring to @usher,” said the producer.

It’s hard not to go absolutely insane whenever Megan Thee Stallion does damn-near anything. The Houston-bred talent is a gift given to us from the powers above, breaking out last year in tremendous fashion, earning the title of the H-Town Hottie and setting us all up to enjoy a Hot Girl Summer. The budding superstar has built her network rapidly, which includes people like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj, Diddy, and a bunch of other moguls. Clearly, she’s doing something right. Over the weekend, Meg found her name in the headlines after a video was posted by G-Eazy on social media, showing the rapper passionately kissing him on the cheek. After she shut down dating rumors between herself and G, she continued with her thirst trapping agenda, which just claimed Diplo as its latest victim.

Sharing a picture of herself in a red latex outfit, Megan Thee Stallion showed off her ample cleavage, which got fans wishing they were lucky enough to be in her presence. Even her peers, including DJ Diplo, were in awe of the capture, sharing their thoughts in the comments.

“I thank baby jesus for the world we live in that you exist in it,” wrote Diplo on the thread, incoherently getting his thoughts across. Clearly, he was just excited and got a little ahead of himself (and his words.)

Diplo Responds To Sia’s Sex Proposition, Loves That She’s A "Loose Cannon"


But did he take her up on it, though?

You miss out on 100 percent of the shots you never take, so Sia decided to shoot her shot with Diplo. The LSD (Labrinth, Sia, Diplo) collaborators have made magic in the studio, and Sia admitted in an interview with GQ that she not only admired him as an artist but as a good-looking man she wanted to bed down.

“Much of our relationship is just being spent trying not to have sex so that we wouldn’t ruin our business relationship because he’s super-duper hot,” Sia told the publication. “This year I wrote him a text, and I said, ‘Hey, listen, you’re like one of five people that I’m sexually attracted to, and now that I’ve decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son, I don’t have time for a relationship,” Sia added. “If you’re interested in some no-strings sex, then hit me up.'”

While walking the Grammy Awards red carpet on Sunday (January 26), Diplo caught up with PEOPLE and was asked about his friend’s revelation. The correspondent wanted to know if he’d taken Sia up on her offer, to which he playfully replied, “No comment” with a laugh. “I love her to death and value our relationship a lot more.”

Taking that as a negative, Diplo said he wasn’t aware that she was going to share that with the world. “But she’s a loose cannon, and she does whatever she wants,” he said. “Yeah, but she’s spontaneous and insane, so I love her for that.” Watch Diplo’s full clip below.

Nas Meets Lil Nas X On The Grammy Stage For "Rodeo" Performance


Lil Nas X brought out BTS, Diplo, and more for his Grammy performance.

The Grammys took place last night with some pretty big performances. Tyler, The Creator was joined by Charlie Wilson and Boyz II Men for a beautifully chaotic rendition of “EARFQUAKE” and “New Magic Wand,” Meek Mill, Roddy Ricch, DJ Khaled, YG, and more paid tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle and Kobe Bryant, and Aerosmith and Run DMC reunited on stage to perform “Walk This Way.”

Lil Nas X also came through with a major performance including special appearances from Diplo, BTS, Mason Ramsay, and Billy Ray Cyrus for his hit single, “Old Town Road” and their many remixes. However, he also did a rendition of “Rodeo” which included a delightfully surprising guest verse from Nas. Yes, the NAS — or Big Nas as the legendary MC refers to himself as on the “Rodeo” remix. Draped in a Godly-white outfit that contrasted Lil Nas X’s cowboy/cybergoth drip, Nas came out of nowhere with the co-sign that many have been wondering existed in the first place.

Lil Nas X was nominated for six awards last night and went home with two the Billy Ray Cyrus-assisted, “Old Town Road.” The video itself took home “Best Music Video” and the song was awarded Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. It was certainly a big night for Lil Nas X.

Rita keeps trapping Diplo’s thirst.

Rita Ora often posts thirst traps on Instagram and they often elicit responses from Diplo. Earlier this week, after showing her bare body on her IG story, Ora posted a photo of herself splayed across a couch in lingerie. Diplo popped up in the comments of this sensual shot, gushing, “I’d let you run over me with a car even tho you don’t have a drivers license.” 

There have been dating rumours circulating about Rita Ora and Diplo for years, but since no permanent union seems to have materialized, it may be more likely that they are just friends. However, that doesn’t stop the speculation that arises every time the super-producer lusts over Ora’s posts. On Saturday, she shared a slideshow of her soaking the sun in the pool. She declared that “Today was a good day” and, in response, Diplo declared “That’s cute.”

She isn’t the first person who has ever tried to hook up with a co-worker. Sia and Diplo are both friends and collaborators, even recently joining with Labrinth to release their LSD project. While Sia is known as the two-tone-wig-wearing, award-winning do-gooder who pays for people’s groceries at Walmart, she’s also just a woman looking to get it in with one of the most famous DJs in the world.

GQ recently published an interview with Diplo that included bits from his collaborators who added a few anecdotes about the producer-musician-DJ. “Much of our relationship is just being spent trying not to have sex so that we wouldn’t ruin our business relationship because he’s super-duper hot,” Sia told GQ of her working friendship with Diplo.

The vibe was so intense that she decided that he was going to be the friends with benefits that she needed. “This year I wrote him a text, and I said, ‘Hey, listen, you’re like one of five people that I’m sexually attracted to, and now that I’ve decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son, I don’t have time for a relationship,” Sia added. “If you’re interested in some no-strings sex, then hit me up.'”

Sia Hit Up Diplo For Some "No-Strings Sex" So It Wouldn't Ruin Their Business Relationship

A new feature on Diplo in GQ published today revealed more about Diplo & Sia’s relationship than was previously known. The two collaborated along with Labrinth in 2019 on the super group LSD and their accompanying debut album, Labrinth, Sia & Diplo Present… LSD.


The feature included testimonials from many people close to Diplo or who’ve worked with him, including Sia.

“Much of our relationship is just being spent trying not to have sex so that we wouldn’t ruin our business relationship because he’s super-duper hot,” Sia told GQ. “This year I wrote him a text, and I said, ‘Hey, listen, you’re like one of five people that I’m sexually attracted to, and now that I’ve decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son, I don’t have time for a relationship .… If you’re interested in some no-strings sex, then hit me up.’”

We’re all for open and honest discourse on sexual relationships, and Sia definitely deserves props for shooting her shot and being upfront about boundaries. She didn’t reveal if Diplo took her up on the offer.

“He doesn’t think that he’s good enough at anything. He has crazy low self-esteem,” she continued, also calling him “the sweetest thing in the world” but “one of the most insecure boys I’ve ever met.”

“It’s so interesting, because he’s one of the most talented and attractive people in the world. But he doesn’t know it.”
