Queens Of The Stone Age Announce First Icelandic Show Since 2005
Queens Of The Stone Age have officially announced their first Icelandic show since 2005, marking a highly anticipated return to the country. The band, led by Josh Homme, confirmed the news following a series of cryptic social media teases that saw the group searching for travel information and gig history in Iceland.
The one-off performance is scheduled to take place at Reykjavík’s Laugardalshöll on Saturday, October 24. Local fans will also be treated to an opening set by the Icelandic group Virgin Orchestra. Expressing their excitement on social media, the band stated: “Iceland, it’s simply been too long. HERE. WE. COME.”
Tickets for the event are set to go on sale this Friday, June 26, at 11:00am local time. This performance follows a period of significant activity for the band, including their acclaimed 2024 stripped-back performance at the historic Parisian Catacombs, which was later documented in a concert film and live album.
Reflecting on their recent trajectory, the band has continued to push boundaries with intimate, high-concept performances. Following the Catacombs show, the group embarked on a tour across the UK, Europe, and North America, incorporating string sections to recreate the unique atmosphere of their cave performance. Their final UK date at London’s Royal Albert Hall featured a guest appearance from Matt Berry, further cementing their reputation for unpredictable and emotionally resonant live sets.
As the band prepares for upcoming stadium support dates alongside System Of A Down and Foo Fighters, speculation regarding the follow-up to their 2023 album In Times New Roman continues to grow, with many fans anticipating new material in 2026.
