Last time Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi pursued solo projects, they chose to do it under the Rae Sremmurd umbrella. The brothers' third studio album, SR3MM, consisted of three components: their collaborative effort, Swae Lee's Swaecation and Slim Jxmmi's Jxmtro. Since that project's 2018 release, Rae Sremmurd hasn't put out any music as a duo. However, they did continue to tour as one. For any fans fearful that Rae Sremmurd has disbanded, Swae Lee has a message for you:

"I’m good, Slim Jimmy good. We two different individuals MORE SOLO songs on the way and SremmLife 4 on the way we two different types of artists and that’s gone be respected."

Celebrities: they're just like us. Ever attend a highly-anticipated event just to fall asleep halfway through it? Ever binge so much food at the Superbowl party buffet that you pass out shortly after hitting the couch? Swae Lee found himself in a similar predicament on Sunday night, but he was actually at the game. 

Another attendee in the stands spotted the Rae Sremmurd rapper taking a snooze in his seat. Swae's brother Slim Jxmmi managed to stay awake for the big game, but also looked quite exhausted as he watched. Eventually, Jxmmi spots the culprit exposing their sleepiness and, almost simultaneously, Swae awakens to discover he's being filmed too. Swae wasn't too bothered, though. He gave the camera a friendly nod and wave of the hand. 

It’s reported that an official statement from Rae Sremmurd will arrive on Thursday, but Slim Jxmmi and Swae Lee continue to mourn the death of their stepfather in private. The brothers suffered a tragic loss after news surfaced that their 19-year-old brother Michael Sullivan fatally shot their stepfather Floyd Sullivan.

The “Black Beatles” hitmakers’ younger brother has been arrested and TMZ shares they’ve spoken with Bernadette Walker, the boys’ mother. According to the outlet, Bernadette states Michael suffers from mental illness, specifically Schizoaffective disorder that is tied to schizophrenia. Symptoms can include but are not limited to mania, hallucinations, and depression.

Bernadette didn’t know what led to the shooting or why Michael would allegedly murder his father, but she revealed that he’d been residing at her home in Atlanta until November 2019. She noticed that his mood was shifting, resulting in bouts of anger because he’d stopped taking his medication. He’s over 18 years of age so he couldn’t be forced or required to take his prescriptions, even though it was apparent to her that he needed them. This caused Michael to leave and move to Mississippi with his father. She speculates that Floyd’s death may be the result of Michael having one of his outbursts. 

Michael will reportedly undergo a full psych evaluation before official charges are handed down, according to reports. Jxmmi and Swae have said little, aside from the latter tweeting broken heart emojis and “I pray this world let’s me keep some compassion.” We send our condolences.

He was dead once police arrived on the scene and the younger brother to the hit-making duo, Michael Sullivan, was taken into police custody to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. At this point, police said that the duo's younger brother is the only person of interest in the investigation right now. A rep for Rae Sremmurd confirmed the passing of their stepfather to HNHH with an official statement on behalf of the group set to be issued tomorrow.

Swae didn't directly address his step father's passing but he issued a tweet that seemingly referenced the situation. Along with a slew of broken hearts, he wrote, "I pray this world let’s me keep some compassion."

Yesterday, it was reported by TMZ that Rae Sremmurd’s stepfather, Floyd Sullivan, was pronounced dead after being shot in his home. The Tupelo Police Department detailed that the 62-year-old man suffered several gunshot wounds on Monday evening. The son of the victim and the half-brother of the hit-making duo, Michael Sullivan, was admitted for psychological evaluation after being suspected of being responsible for the shooting. According to a press release from Tupelo PD, Michael has been arrested for the murder of his father.

On Tuesday night (Jan. 7), the 19-year-old was released from a psychological care facility, arrested and transported to the Lee County Sheriff’s Department. No other suspects have been identified as of this report.

Slim Jxmmi has yet to publicly comment on the situation, but the other member of the hit-making duo, Swae Lee, shared some tweets that seemed to reference it. Aside from a tweet that solely consisted of broken-heart emojis, he wrote, “I pray this world let’s me keep some compassion” and “I’ve been tested my whole life”.

Although the two rappers have remained relatively silent regarding the matter throughout the day Juel Stanley, publicist for Rae Sremmurd, issued a statement regarding their stepfather's death to WTVA.

Both Slim and Swae Lee are deeply saddened by the death of their step father but are thankful for the love and support from him throughout the years of their upbringing. Though his untimely death has come at such a surprise, we ask that the public just keep the family in great prayer and respect their privacy at this time.

Michael Brown, the younger brother to Swae and Jxm, is now in police custody as a person of interest. He’s currently being held for a psychiatric evaluation and is currently the only person being investigated in connection to the murder. At this point, there isn’t much information regarding the actual shooting itself as police are currently investigating the situation. However, Lee County Medical Examiner confirmed that the victim of the shooting is Floyd Sullivan.

Sullivan has been in Swae and Slim Jxmmi’s lives since they were in middle school in Texas. From there, they moved to Tupelo along with Sullivan and their mom who had supported them in Mississippi. 

At this point, it’s unclear how much knowledge of the incident Swae Lee or Slim Jxmmi have of the situation. However, Swae Lee did post a selfie with a broken heart emoji on Monday evening.
