Patriots’ Reasoning For Letting Tom Brady Become Free Agent Revealed
Brady and the Patriots have some big decisions to make.
Heading into March, Tom Brady will be in a position he's never had to deal with before. The six-time Super Bowl-champion is about to become a free agent for the first time in his entire career. The New England Patriots and Tom Brady have been married for 20 years now and they have come together for one of the best dynasties in the history of sports. Brady is on the decline but at 42 years old, some teams feel like he is still good enough to help their team go out and win a championship. Meanwhile, if the Patriots do let Brady walk, it will be difficult to find a suitable replacement.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Patriots' reasoning for letting Tom Brady go to free agency was simple. They want Brady and head coach Bill Belichick to take their time deciding if it would make sense to continue their relationship. Belichick is very particular about his personnel and if he doesn't feel like Brady is good enough anymore, he could say goodbye in swift fashion.
For now, it remains to be seen what either party is going to decide. Many believe Brady will be back while others think he'll want to explore franchises like the Oakland Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers.

Raptors’ Masai Ujiri Sued By Oakland Police Officer Over Alleged Assault
Police officer launches lawsuit against Ujiri stemming from NBA Finals altercation.
Toronto Raptors President Masai Ujiri has reportedly been sued by an Oakland police officer, who claims that Ujiri assaulted him following Toronto's NBA Finals victory over the Golden State Warriors. According to The Toronto Star, sheriff's deputy Alan Strickland alleges that Ujiri struck him in the face and chest at Oracle Arena on June 13, 2019, after Strickland demanded to see Ujiri's on-court access credentials.
According to the report, the lawsuit states that Ujiri's alleged actions were "foreseeable" based on "previous altercations involving similar circumstances." In addition to Ujiri, the Toronto Raptors, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment and the NBA were named in the suit for failing to warn the plaintiff of Ujiri's "violent predisposition" and "propensity for physical violence prior to his assault on Strickland."
Per The Toronto Star:
"The suit, which seeks medical expenses, lost wages and other damages, also accuses the defendants of failing to "provide adequate safety and security to the public" and "failing to post signs warning of danger, including the danger of Masai Ujiri."
Back in October, prosecutors in California announced that no official charges would be filed again Masai, but it appears Strickland is determined to get some money out of the whole ordeal. Check out footage from the incident in question below.

Kevin Durant’s Next Nike Signature Sneaker Surfaces: The Nike KD13
First look at what to expect from the Nike KD13.
Kevin Durant and Nike still have a plethora of Nike KD12 colorways in the works, including the Don C collab that’ll be dropping during All Star weekend, but it’s not too soon to start looking ahead to his next signature sneaker, the Nike KD13. Thanks to KD brand ambassador Randy Williams, we have an early look at what’s to come.
The specific details regarding the Nike KD13 have not yet been revealed but the overall silhouette doesn’t stray too far from the look of the KD12.
The Nike KD12 is highlighted by a multi-layer mesh upper, four-way flywire, and a full length zoom air cushioning that has been stitched to the strobel, which is a thin woven textile that traditionally sits beneath the sockliner and above the midsole. By stitching a full-length articulated Air Zoom bag to the upper, Nike engineers made the Air unit a more dynamic element of the shoe.
One would assume that the KD13 will also feature that new and improved tooling but we’ll wait until we get an official word from Nike. Stay tuned for more details and click here to preview the KD12 collab dropping this week.
XFL Commissioner Explains Decision To Not Sign Colin Kaepernick
The XFL had a successful first weekend.
Heading into the first weekend of the XFL, football fans were skeptical about whether or not the league would deliver on its promise for great football in the spring. So far, the league has brought forth some great ideas and fans are excited to see how the league will play out over the next 11 weeks. The XFL has real potential and it seems like the NFL has a thing or two it can learn from the new venture.
One thing that’s missing from the league, however, is star power. Of course, this is to be expected considering the NFL has all of the premium talents. Some people felt as though the league should have gotten Colin Kaepernick. In a recent interview, XFL commissioner Oliver Luck spoke about Kaepernick and how his demands were something the league couldn’t match.

“We gave it some thought,” Luck said according to NBC Sports Bay Area. “We have some pretty significant salary restrictions, you know. We’re a start-up league, so we want to make sure that we can be fiscally responsible and fiscally prudent. And the salary requirements that some folks shared with us were in our case exorbitant, so we couldn’t go down that path. . . . We spoke with his representative, and the salary requirements that were broached in that conversation were exorbitant and certainly out of our range.”
For now, Kaepernick’s career remains in question although perhaps the league will expand to a point where they can afford high profile players like Kap. Either way, the XFL is offering an interesting alternative to the NFL and we can’t wait to watch more games.
Kobe Bryant Mural Removed In Indianapolis After Criticism From Public
The community demanded that this Kobe mural be painted over.
In the aftermath of Kobe Bryant's death, street artists around the world have paid tribute to the Laker legend and his daughter GiGi with some incredible murals. Among them, a colorful tribute in Los Angeles, a massive black and white piece at the Tenement basketball court in Manila, Philippines, and a mesmerizing display done with Dry Erase markers. However, not all murals are created equal.
According to Black Indy Live, the questionable piece of artwork shown in the tweet embedded above was displayed on the wall of a gas station in Indianapolis. The image was quickly declared to be more of an eye sore than a touching tribute to Bryant, and was ultimately removed due to all of the backlash from the community. While many were happy to see the smirking Kobe with his fierce armpit hair removed from the wall, there were some others who didn't think it was right to simply paint over another's tribute.
For instance, local hip-hop artist Antonio Maxie posted the following message on facebook:
“It’s always [people] that can’t do some s**t that’s critiquing others’ work!! STFU!! Y’all can’t even draw not along do grafitti. The Kobe wall definitely ain’t the coldest but damn at least they tried!! [People] will kill your spirit if you let [them]!! Hey, but this is social media ain’t it…”

Kevin Durant Shows Off His Jumper Amidst Achilles Rehab: Watch
KD is looking great out there.
Kevin Durant hasn't played basketball since Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors. Durant ended up suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon which is going to keep him out for an entire year. The Brooklyn Nets will not be forcing him to play this year which means he will get to focus on his Achilles recovery.
When Durant is healthy, he is arguably the best scorer in the entire league and the Nets will be looking forward to receiving his services. Fans should be excited, however, because Durant is already in the gym showing off his jumper. In the video below, it's clear that Durant hasn't lost his step and can pretty well drain shots at will. If your favorite team is a rival of the Nets, you should be very wary of this latest development.
Even if Durant were ready to go for the last stretch of the season, it appears as though the Nets would rather exercise caution. The Warriors were overzealous when rushing KD back into the lineup which led to his big injury. The Nets have picked up on the Warriors' mistakes and are making sure their star is good to go for next year.
Once the Nets get KD back, they'll certainly be contenders in the East.
