The Ipswich multi-instrumentalist, who performed at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show at Wembley Stadium back in September, made her name with exuberant drum covers of tracks on YouTube in recent years.

Since then, she has released a handful of original songs, the first of which is titled ‘The Children Will Rise Up!’ and was recorded with Tom Morello’s son Roman. This September, she penned new single ‘The Shadows’, written for her father, who was suffering health issues.

Watch the new cover of Eminem below.

Though she hasn’t shared a cover video for nearly six months until now, 2022 has seen Bushell take on versions of Jimi Hendrix’s ‘Little Wing’, Rush’s ‘Tom Sawyer’, Billie Eilish‘s ‘Happier Than Ever’, Tool’s ‘Forty Six & 2’, ‘Gimme Shelter’ by The Rolling Stones, and a rollicking cover of Ed Sheeran and Bring Me The Horizon‘s collaboration, ‘Bad Habits.

Other collaborations that Bushell’s been a part of include Queen’s Roger Taylor, Beatles icon Ringo Starr and the Arctic Monkeys’ Matt Helders (who she also interviewed), as well as a live performance in LA with Foo Fighters.

She said the latter experience made for “the best night of [her] entire life”, while Dave Grohl said that watching her play the drums was “the true meaning of rock ’n’ roll”.

Meanwhile, Bushell was among those to pay tribute to late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. “Our love, thoughts and support are with all who knew Taylor,” Bushell said on Twitter. “Thank you for looking after me, thank you for being so kind and loving, thank you for being the most awesome drummer ever, thank you for bringing so much joy to the world, thank you for being you! With love, Nandi x”

Eminem performs with Ed Sheeran, Aerosmith at Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame 2022 ceremony

Eminem was inducted into the 2022 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame last night (November 5) and performed with Ed Sheeran and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler at the ceremony – check out footage below.

Eminem was inducted alongside Carly Simon, Duran Duran, Dolly Parton, Lionel Richie, Eurythmics Judas Priest and Pat Benatar.

To celebrate, Eminem took to the stage to perform six of his biggest hits, starting with ‘My Name Is’ and ‘Rap God’.

He was then joined by Steven Tyler for ‘Sing For The Moment’ (which samples Aerosmith’s ‘Dream On’) before Ed Sheeran joined him to sing Dido’s parts in ‘Stan’. He rounded out the performance with ‘Forever’ and ‘Not Afraid’.

The show will be broadcast later this month (November 19) but you can check out fan-shot footage below.

Eminem was inducted by long-term friend and mentor Dr Dre who joked that Eminem had asked him to tell the crowd that he had “a huge penis”. Dre went on to say (via the LA Times) that “Eminem wasn’t just an underdog who broke through the glass ceiling of hip-hop – he shattered that shit.” He went on to say Eminem “brought hip-hop to middle America,” while his music “holds a mirror up to white America.”

During his acceptance speech, Eminem claimed he shouldn’t be at the ceremony, firstly because he’s a rapper and “this is the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame” and secondly, because he almost died of a drug overdose in 2007.

He then went on to list a whole host of rappers who influenced him over the years including Tupac, Notorious B.I.G., De La Soul, Cypress Hill, Ice Cube, LL Cool J and Snoop Dogg.

“Those are just a few of the names that I hope will be considered in the future for induction because without them, a lot of us wouldn’t be here. This induction is meant to be me, talking about myself and shit but fuck that. I would not be here without them,” Eminem said. “I’m a high-school dropout with a hip-hop education and these were my teachers. It’s their night, as much as it is mine.”

Elsewhere during the night, Olivia Rodrigo covered Carly Simon’s ‘You’re So Vain’ after the singer was unable to attend the ceremony.

Last month, 50 Cent said that he doesn’t believe Eminem has been given enough credit for his impact on the world of hip hop while back in September, Eminem wrote a lengthy reflection on his struggle with addiction, that said “I don’t know how the fuck I’m still here.”

Eminem unveils 20th anniversary edition of ‘8 Mile’ soundtrack

Eminem has unveiled a 20th anniversary release of the 8 Mile soundtrack.

Released on November 8 2022, the film starred Eminem and was a semi-biographical story of his early life in Detroit and his origins in rap battles.

Eminem shared news of the anniversary release on Twitter this week (October 26) alongside a montage of clips from the hit film.

“‘I’m still standing here screaming ‘f*** the Free World,”” the rapper tweeted, referencing one of his famous line from the film.

“#8Mile 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of the soundtrack drops on streaming Friday!”

The deluxe edition of the album contains instrumentals of every song from the original soundtrack as well as a demo of ‘Lose Yourself’.

That song became the first rap song to win Best Original Song at the Oscars in 2003 and  earned Best Rap Song and Best Male Rap Solo Performance at the 2004 Grammy Awards. The song was also Eminem’s first number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart too.

You can check out the tweet and the soundtrack here:

The film, which also starred Kim Basinger, Brittany Murphy and Mekhi Phifer has grossed more than $240 million (£207 million) worldwide and remains one of the highest-rated Hip Hop movies ever made (via Hip Hop DX).

The soundtrack arrived on October 29 2002 and featured contributions from the likes of Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Nas, Rakim and Gang Starr.

Recently, rapper 50 Cent said that he doesn’t believe Eminem has been given enough credit for his impact on the world of hip hop.

During an interview on the podcast Ebro In The Morning to talk about his latest TV project Hip-Hop Homicides, the rapper explained that Eminem helped to make hip hop accessible to more people, thus raising the profile and popularity of the genre.

“I don’t think that they give Em the credit that he deserves,” he explained. “Because, in order for people to embrace something, they have to see where they fit in.”

He continued: “I think part of Eminem’s legacy is the growth of our culture. People wouldn’t buy it if they didn’t see where they fit into it. And he’s there and he’s a legitimate artist because of his journey. When you look at 8 Mile, you’re seeing a Black story with a white lead. You seeing poverty, you’re seeing [similar] circumstances. Look at his friends Proof and D-12 and everybody: these are real hip hop guys. Which is why he’s a real hip hop guy.”

Eminem pens lengthy reflection on struggles with addiction: “I don’t know how the fuck I’m still here”

Eminem has opened up about his former struggles with drug addiction in a personal new essay.

  • READ MORE: Eminem: Rank The Albums – will the best Slim Shady album please stand up?

In the piece penned for XXL, Em discusses the way that “everything changed” after he signed with Interscope and released his second studio album, 1999’s ‘The Slim Shady LP’. He describes how after he first relocated to Los Angeles, he and friends would go to Tijuana to purchase drugs such as Vicodin.

“The last time we went, we’re second in line and this dude in front of us starts arguing with the guy in Customs, and they fuckin’ throw him down on the ground and start pulling pills out his pockets and shit,” Em recalls. “We were scared shitless, but we got through. And when I say we had the motherlode. Our pants were frickin’ stuffed with pills. I don’t know how many we had.”

Despite what he acknowledges was an early warning sign, the rapper says he didn’t think he had a problem at that stage. “I just really, really liked drugs. As I started making a little money, I could buy more of them.”

“I didn’t take anything hard until I got famous,” Em explains. “I was experimenting. I hadn’t found a drug of choice. Back then you went on tour and people were just giving you free drugs. I managed it for a little while. And then, it just became, I like this shit too much and I don’t know how to stop.”

While Em was able to “downplay” his addiction for some time, it reached a tumultuous point in the period between 2000’s ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’ and 2004 album ‘Encore’, when the rapper was taking a mixture of Vicodin, Valium and alcohol, as well as Ambien before performances. Em goes on to recount one story from that time period, when he performed for BET’s 106 & Park with 50 Cent and G-Unit and was interviewed afterwards.

“That’s when the wheels started coming off. One of the hosts was talking to me and I could not understand a word she was saying. 50 had to cover for me and answer every question,” he explains. “If you watch back to that interview now, you can notice it. That’s when everyone around me knew, ‘He’s fucked up. Something’s wrong with him.'”

Eminem explains that his heaviest period of drug usage and addiction spanned around five years. “It felt like a long time when it was happening, but looking back at it now, it wasn’t that long of a time for my problem to explode as it did.”

Em’s substance abuse escalated following the death of the rapper’s friend and D12 bandmate Proof in 2006, when he says his addiction “went through the fuckin’ roof”. Em recounts one point shortly after Proof’s death, when he fell over in his bathroom and woke up in a hospital “with fucking tubes in me and shit”, unable to talk or understand what had happened.

“Just after Proof died, I was in my house by myself, and I was just laying in bed and I couldn’t move and I just kept staring at the ceiling fan. And I just kept taking more pills. I literally couldn’t walk for two days when that happened and eventually my drug use fuckin’ skyrocketed.

“I had fuckin’ 10 drug dealers at one time that I’m getting my shit from. [75] to 80 Valiums a night, which is a lot. I don’t know how the fuck I’m still here. I was numbing myself.”

Eminem was eventually hospitalised in December 2007 following a methadone overdose, with doctors telling him he had ingested the equivalent of four bags of heroin. He got sober the following year. In a recent interview for manager Paul Rosenberg’s podcast, he discussed having to relearn how to rap following the overdose.

“I remember when I first got sober and all the shit was out of my system, I remember just being, like, really happy and everything was fucking new to me again,” he said about working on his 2009 album ‘Relapse’. “It was the first album and the first one that I had fun recording in a long time.”

He continued: “It was like the first time I started having fun with music again and relearning how to rap. You remember that whole process, [it] took a long time for my brain to start working again.”

On the same episode, Em revealed that a feud he had with Snoop Dogg was quashed after their mutual friend Dr. Dre was hospitalised following a brain aneurysm in 2021. The pair have since performed together on multiple occasions – such as at this year’s Super Bowl half-time show and the MTV Video Music Awards – and released the collaborative single ‘From the D 2 the LBC’ in June.

Earlier this month, Em won a Creative Arts Emmy Award for his part in this year’s Super Bowl half-time show, taking him one step closer to EGOT status.

Eminem had to relearn how to rap following drug overdose

Eminem has revealed that he had to retrain himself to rap following his 2007 accidental overdose on methadone.

The rapper was appearing on the latest episode of his manager Paul Rosenberg’s podcast Paul Pod, where he spoke about the overdose and having to relearn his craft.

In the episode, Rosenberg spoke of how doctors had to “stabilise [him] with a few medications” and how “some of them took [him] a minute to adjust to”.

“So, you’re learning how to rap again almost literally, right?” He said. “Because it’s the first time, probably, you were creating without having substances in your body in, however many years, right?”

Eminem then replied: “Didn’t you ask the doctors when I first started rapping again, didn’t you say like, ‘I just wanna make sure he doesn’t have brain damage?’”

“Yeah. I thought you might have some permanent problems,” Rosenberg responded. “Yeah. I was concerned, for sure.”

Eminem released his second greatest hits collection, ‘Curtain Call 2’, last month. A press release at the time stated: “‘Curtain Call 2’ will include music from all Eminem projects from ‘Relapse’ forward, including side-projects, guest appearances, film soundtrack songs, and of course selections from his solo albums.”

In other news, Eminem was announced as the winner of a Creative Arts Emmy Award, taking him one step closer to becoming an EGOT winner.

The star was part of an ensemble that performed at the Superbowl Halftime Show earlier this year alongside Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak, which won three prizes at the ceremony over the weekend.

Adam Blackstone, the Emmy-winning music director who worked on the Super Bowl Halftime Show, has said that he wanted to take the star-studded performance on tour.

Looking to the future, Blackstone said that he was now “calling out” Dre, Eminem, Snoop, Kendrick, Blige, .Paak and 50 Cent, adding: “Let’s take this on the road.”

As reported by HipHopDX, police were called to the 1600 block of Lower Water Street in Fairfax, Nova Scotia with reports of a stabbing. Stay was taken to a hospital but ultimately died of his injuries at the age of 36.

Eminem, who also came up in the battle rap circuit, took to Twitter to share his condolences: “Hip Hop lost one of the best battlers of all time. RIP @patstay … KINGS NEVER DIE!!”

Last month, Stay called out The Game after he shared his ‘The Black Slim Shady‘ diss track, which appears on The Game’s 10th album, ‘DRILLMATIC Heart Vs. Mind’.

One part of the track sees The Game imitating Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ flow, with the former rapping: “Oh, he goes platinum / And, oh, I’m on the ‘Math with him / He got all the Blackest friends / He wants to be African / Me, left for dead on the ‘Doctor’s Advocate’ / Dre never executive-produced it, I just imagined it.”

“I gotta say, as a fan losangelesconfidential its been hard to watch you desperately begging for @eminem attention trying to battle him,” Stay wrote on Instagram. “Trust me, I respect the hunger, but once you start that whole ‘he only blew up because he’s white’ type sh*t it comes off more hater-ish than competitive.”

Elsewhere, Eminem was announced as the winner of a Creative Arts Emmy Award, taking him one step closer to becoming an EGOT winner.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg team up for metaverse-inspired performance at MTV VMAs 2022

Eminem and Snoop Dogg teamed up for a special “metaverse-inspired” performance at the MTV VMAs 2022 tonight (August 28).

The rappers were among a raft of performers at the ceremony, which is being co-hosted by Nicki Minaj, Jack Harlow and LL Cool J at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Eminem and Snoop Dogg shared a version of their recent collaboration ‘From The D 2 The LBC’ that saw them mix in-person performance with digital technology. The appearance was organised in partnership with Yuga Labs – an NFT and cryptocurrency company best known for the Bored Apes project – and was inspired by “the world of the Otherside metaverse”.

The performance began with the pair sitting on a couch, with Snoop smoking a comedically large joint. As Eminem said he felt like he was getting high just from sitting next to him, a green swirl appeared on screen, taking viewers into the rapper’s head where he and his collaborator became digital avatars and figures from Bored Apes.

As the song reached its latter stages, the performance threw things back to the stage, which was surrounded by digital graphics. Watch footage of the moment above now.

Harlow, Lil Nas X and Kendrick Lamar led the nominations going into the night, with seven each. Doja Cat and Harry Styles follow behind on six nods, while Taylor Swift is in the running for five awards. Keep up with all of the winners as they happen here.

More performances at the MTV VMAs 2022 will come from Måneskin, Panic! At The Disco, Red Hot Chili Peppers and more. Harlow kicked off the night with a special performance of ‘First Class’ with Fergie, while Lizzo brought her new single ‘2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)’ to the VMAs stage.

BLACKPINK also made their debut appearance at the VMAs with ‘Pink Venom’ and Minaj ran through hits from across her discography.

Eminem says rapping about mental health and addiction was “therapeutic”

Eminem has discussed rapping about mental health and addiction in his music, calling the process “therapeutic”.

The rapper has been open about his issues with substance abuse and mental health problems throughout his career.

Speaking to Westside Boogie on Shade 45’s Sway In The Morning radio show, Eminem was asked how speaking about these issues so openly has changed his life.

He responded: “Well, I think that’s, that’s one of the great things about rap music is that, you know, you could put so much of your life in it. I was just trying to figure out how to expand on that and I kinda got lost.”

Marshall Mathers added: “It’s therapeutic and it’s, you know, that’s how it’s always been for me. But with this album, with this new Boogie album, the, the title, everything is fucking, everything’s great.

“And it’s like, you know, watching him, watching him just keep getting better and better and better is incredible too. And he’s got so much of his life weaved in this album. You know what I’m saying? Like, I think that it’s like, it’s therapeutic.”

This week, Eminem and CeeLo Green teamed up on ‘The King And I’, a song from the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s new Elvis film.

The track is co-produced by Dr. Dre and sees Eminem compare himself to Elvis Presley over the course of the ‘Jailhouse Rock’-sampling track, rapping: “I’m about to explain to you all the parallels between Elvis and me”.

It seems obvious: one, he’s pale as me/ Second, we both been hailed as kings/ He used to rock the Jailhouse, and I used to rock The Shelter,” he raps, before adding “I stole black music, yeah, true, perhaps used it / As a tool to combat school kids / Kids came back on some bathroom shit / Now I call a hater a bidet / ’Cause they mad that they can’t do shit”.

Eminem and CeeLo Green’s ‘Elvis’ track ‘The King & I’ arrives tomorrow

Eminem has revealed that ‘The King & I’, his new collaboration with CeeLo Green, will be released tomorrow (June 16).

The track is set to feature on the soundtrack for Elvis, the upcoming Presley biopic directed by Baz Luhrmann which arrives in cinemas later this month.

Eminem shared the news on social media, posting the artwork for the single alongside information that the track will hit streaming services at noon EST on Thursday.

Speaking about the collaboration, Green said (via KTLA): “Me and Eminem have been friends for years, I’ve longed for an opportunity to work with him. He said, ‘Hey man, can you do this for me? I need it really quickly, I need it tonight.’ So when Eminem says he needs something tonight, you deliver.”

In a clip of the track captured at the red carpet premiere of Elvis, which has been doing the rounds online, Eminem spits: “I rolled up like the bottom of a tooth paste tube/ Blue suede shoes, one missin’ a shoe lace too/ Two chains, you can call me 2 Chainz/ Ropes hang like Hussein’s noose/ Yeah, they let the fruitcake loose/ It goes one for the trailer park, two for my baby-ma’s/ Three for the tater tots, four if you ate a lot.”

Elsewhere on ‘The King & I’, Em breaks down the parallels between he and Presley: “Between Elvis and me, myself/ It seems obvious: one, he’s pale as me/ Second, we both been hailed as kings/ He used to rock the Jailhouse, and I used to rock The Shelter.

Green’s input hears him sing: “See, I don’t give a shit about a thing you say/ I just wanna feel like a king again/ And if you don’t like it you can sit and spin/ Middle fingers up, we ’bout to do this shit again.

Other artists due to appear on the soundtrack for Elvis include Kacey Musgraves, who will contribute a cover of Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’; and Doja Cat, who will feature on the soundtrack with an original song entitled ‘Vegas’ that samples Presley’s 1956 single ‘Hound Dog’.

The Elvis soundtrack will also include “original songs and recordings” by Presley himself along with the film’s star, Austin Butler. Swae Lee, Diplo, Chris Isaak, Denzel Curry, Jazmine Sullivan, Måneskin, and Pnau will also appear.

Elvis will officially hit cinemas on June 24.

Watch Eminem join Pete Davidson for final ‘SNL’ sketch

In one of Pete Davidson‘s final sketches for Saturday Night Live, the comedian called upon Eminem to help pay tribute to the show’s creator Lorne Michaels.

  • READ MORE: SNL heroes: stunning Saturday Night Live performances by your favourite stars

It was announced earlier this week that a number of cast members would be bidding farewell to the late night sketch show at the end of its 47th season which came to a close last night (May 21).

The cast members leaving the show include Davidson, Kate McKinnon, Addy Bryant and Kyle Mooney, all of whom bid farewell to Studio 8H in their own way during last night’s season finale.

Davidson’s farewell reflected on his first-ever appearance on the show in a segment alongside Colin Jost on the ‘Weekend Update’ desk. He then thanked SNL “for always having my back, for allowing me to work on myself and grow” and “for never giving up on me or judging me even when everyone else was”.

The ‘Weekend Update’ wasn’t the only sendoff for Davidson: in a Cut for Time sketch, the comedian delivered a third and final Eminem parody dedicated to his mentor and SNL creator Lorne Michaels, much to the irritation of the Detroit rapper himself.

Flipping Dr. Dre and Eminem’s 2000 hit ‘Forgot About Dre’ into ‘Forgot About Lorne’, Davidson – using deepfake technology – paid tribute to Michaels’ legacy while namechecking a number of past cast members that went to become household names because of Michaels.

However, Davidson’s tribute gets cut short when Eminem stops by the studio and shuts the production down, lambasting the comedian for his Slim Shady-themed parodies over his SNL tenure. “Please, stop. It’s really bad,” Em tells Davidson.

Davidson responds by telling the rapper: “Honestly, we just do these because we love you so much, Marshall. They’re like a tribute, ya know?” You can check out the sketch above.

The other two times that Davidson spoofed Eminem on SNL included him recreating the rapper’s infamous ‘Stan’ video, and before that he donned a Batman & Robin-style costume for a parody of ‘Without Me’, which also acted as somewhat of an explainer for the recent NFTs trend.

During a recent interview with Audacy, CEO Greg Harris commented on the rapper’s inclusion in the class of 2022 and hip-hop’s place in the Rock Hall. “For a lot of years people asked about hip-hop,” he said. “He’s the 10th artist to be sort of categorised that way.

“But you listen to his music, it’s as hard-hitting and straight ahead as any metal song. It’s right there. It’s a chest punch with a message and with a power and with a rhythm and with a band. We’re thrilled he’s going in [his] first year of eligibility, it’s a big statement.”

Other artists who made the initial shortlist for 2022, but didn’t make the final cut include Kate Bush, Beck, DEVO, Fela Kuti, MC5, New York Dolls, Rage Against The Machine and Dionne Warwick. The artists were voted on by more than 1,000 artists, historians and music industry professionals.

The class of 2022 will be inducted at an in-person ceremony, which is set to take place on November 5 at Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater.

The run-up to the Rock Hall results was filled with drama as Parton initially refused the honour, saying that she didn’t feel that she had “earned the right” to be included. However, she later said she would accept the induction should she receive the votes after learning the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame isn’t solely for artists making rock music.

“I felt like I would be taking away from someone that maybe deserved it, certainly more than me since I never considered myself a rock artist,” she said. “But obviously, there’s more to it than that.”

Last year saw Tina Turner, Carole King, The Go-Gos, Jay-Z, Foo Fighters, Todd Rundgren and more inducted into the institution.

The honourees — voted on by more than 1000 artists, historians and music industry professionals — each “had a profound impact on the sound of youth culture and helped change the course of rock ’n’ roll,” said John Sykes, the chairman of the Rock Hall, in a statement.

The 2022 event, which will be the Hall’s 37th annual induction ceremony, will be held on November 5 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The announcement comes after Parton initially refused the honour on the grounds that she didn’t feel that she had “earned the right”. But she reversed her stance last month to confirm she will accept the honour should she be voted in.

Parton continued to explain that, at the time she made her statement bowing out, she hadn’t realised that the institution already included numerous artists from other genres outside the world of rock. “When I said that, it was always my belief that the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame was for the people in rock music,” she said.

“And I have found out lately it’s not necessarily that. But if they can’t go there to be recognised, where do they go? And so I felt like I would be taking away from someone that maybe deserved it, certainly more than me since I never considered myself a rock artist. But obviously, there’s more to it than that.”

Eminem, Duran Duran and Pat Benatar were among the artists to recently top this year’s Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame fan ballot.

Last year’s inductees included Tina Turner, Carole King, The Go-Go’s, JAY-Z, Foo Fighters and Todd Rundgren in the Performers category; Kraftwerk, Charley Patton, Gil Scott-Heron, in the Early Influence category; LL Cool J, Billy Preston, Randy Rhoads, in the Musical Excellence category; and Clarence Avant received the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Pusha T calls rumours of Eminem beef a “misinterpretation”

Pusha T has said that a supposed beef between him and Eminem is a “misinterpretation”, and payed respect to his fellow rapper.

During an appearance on The Morning Hustle, Pusha was asked by host Lore’l if he had ever been pitted against other rappers.

  • READ MORE: Pusha T – ‘It’s Almost Dry’ review: Virginia legend still going strong in his rap tenure

“I saw just recently on Twitter people saying myself and Eminem,” he responded. “I’m like, bro! It was a misinterpretation of something I don’t even remember. Something I said or whatever. But you know, people decode, and they have their own thing.”

He went on to express his admiration for Eminem’s famous 1998 appearance in the Lyricist Lounge showcase. “He’s one of them people that I really like what he does because, after all of his success, I can still find Lyricist Lounge Eminem. That’s a goal for me, personally.”

It’s unclear what exactly sparked the rumours on social media that the two rappers are feuding with one another.

Pusha’s comments come following the release of his latest album ‘It’s Almost Dry’. In a five-star review, NME said he “has managed to elevate his art to new heights, signalling that the artist is nowhere close to being done”.

He also recently discussed the ongoing feud between Kanye West and Kid Cudi, both of whom contributed to the album.

“It fucking sucks. You know Cudi is my fucking brother to the end. Just navigating these relationships, this brotherhood, the arguing… it gets public,” he said.

“It’s one thing for us to argue. We all argue – that’s not a problem. It gets out there, whether it’s Ye bickering first, or Cudi coming back with what he says. It’s super–fucked up.”

Eminem, Duran Duran and Pat Benatar top Rock Hall fan ballot

Eminem, Duran Duran and Pat Benatar are among the artists to top this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan ballot.

  • READ MORE: The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has turned into a museum. Time for change

Duran Duran, a first-time Rock Hall nominee in 2022, came out on top with nearly 934,000 votes, which was 250,000 more votes than second highest artist on the fan ballot, Eminem (684,000).

Finishing just 50,000 votes behind the Detroit rapper, two-time nominee Benatar took third place on the fan ballot with 631,000. The fourth and fifth spots went to Eurythmics (442,000) and Dolly Parton (394,000) respectively.

Finishing just outside the Top Five: Three-time nominee Judas Priest and first-time nominees Carly Simon and Lionel Richie. You can see the final results here.

Winning the fan ballot does not ensure an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. A body of more than 1,000 artists, industry members and historians will help decide which five acts out of the 17 will progress into the final round of induction consideration.

Other names vying for a place in the Rock Hall include A Tribe Called Quest, Devo, Beck, Rage Against The Machine, MC5, Dionne Warwick, Fela Kuti, New York Dolls and Kate Bush.

The Rock Hall Class of 2022 is revealed in May. A date and location for the ceremony itself has yet to be announced but the event will happen sometime this autumn.

Last year’s inductees were Tina Turner, Carole King, The Go-Go’s, JAY-Z, Foo Fighters and Todd Rundgren, in the Performers category; Kraftwerk, Charley Patton, Gil Scott-Heron, in the Early Influence category; LL Cool J, Billy Preston, Randy Rhoads, in the Musical Excellence category; and Clarence Avant received the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Meanwhile, Dolly Parton has reversed her stance on being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and said she will accept the honour should she be voted in.

Last month (March 14), Parton shared a statement saying that, while she was “extremely flattered and grateful” to be in the running, she didn’t feel that she had “earned the right”. “I really do not want votes to be split because of me, so I must respectfully bow out,” she wrote.

However, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has not removed the musician’s name from the ballot. In an interview on NPR’s Morning Edition yesterday (April 29), the star was asked what she would do if she still received enough votes to enter her into the hall of fame.

“Well, I’ll accept gratefully,” she replied. “I will say ‘thanks’ and accept that.”

YouTuber reimagines Eminem in the style of Linkin Park

YouTuber Anthony Vincent has shared a cover of Eminem‘s ‘Lose Yourself’ in the style of Linkin Park – watch below.

The YouTuber, who has become known for his unique interpretations of well-known songs over the past few years, recruited guitarist Jonathan Young for this latest cover.

Vincent’s merging of Eminem and Linkin Park fuses the angst found in both sets of artists, with Eminem’s lyrics aligning with the band’s glitchy rock backdrop.

While he raps the majority of the song, channelling Mike Shinoda‘s style of rap heard in Linkin Park verses, Vincent also brings in Chester Bennington-style vocals and screams in the chorus.

Vincent has previously brought us such delights as Radiohead’s ‘Creep’ in the style of Deftones and a jazz cover of Foo Fighters’ ‘Everlong’.

Last year, he shared a reimagining of Metallica‘s ‘Master Of Puppets’ in 50 different styles.

For the new version, the track is recreated in the style of 50 different bands or genres, including Harry Styles, Daft Punk, The Weeknd, Soundgarden and many, many more, including Vincent’s own cat.

Linkin Park have been on hiatus since the death of frontman Chester Bennington in 2017. Earlier this month, Mike Shinoda updated fans on the status of the band, revealing that he and the rest of the band talk “every few weeks”.

Meanwhile, Grey Daze, the band fronted by Bennington before he went on to form Linkin Park, announced their return with new album ‘The Phoenix’.

In recent Eminem news, the rapper broke the record for the most gold and platinum singles certified by the RIAA in the organisation’s history back in March. The new certifications put the Detroit rapper ahead of Drake, who previously held the record, and Rihanna.

Stephen Graham played Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’ to hype up the ‘Boiling Point’ cast

Boiling Point star Ray Panthaki has revealed that co-star Stephen Graham helped the cast get into the zone by playing Eminem‘s ‘Lose Yourself’ on set.

The intense film is set in a restaurant kitchen and is shot in one-take, focusing on Graham’s head chef and the team around him.

Panthaki, who plays chef Freeman, opened up exclusively to NME at last night’s (March 13) BAFTAs about his fond memories on set, recalling how his co-star helped his fellow cast members get hyped up.

“Stephen Graham [pumped] us all up by playing Eminem[‘s ‘Lose Yourself’] before we did the take… getting us all pumped up, ready to do it,” he revealed.

“I just remember that ‘Lose Yourself’ moment – someone’s caught it on video somewhere. It’s really beautiful, we’re all jumping around just before action. I’ll find it, we’ll dig it out.”

The star also recalled some other memorable moments, revealing the relief the cast all felt when they finished filming the film’s one take.

“I think it was the feeling, the cheer that went up in the air once we cut. And it was literally like scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final,” Panthaki said.

“It was that feeling, that kind of release… it was just a cheer, because we all knew that we’d got something that we thought was quite special. And it was just the teamwork that had gone into making that happen. There’s so many beautiful memories from that.”

The star also admitted there were “little things that went wrong” that viewers may not have noticed, explaining one mistake he himself made that Graham managed to “style out”.

“There’s a moment in the film, just before Stephen burns his hand on a pot, and I was supposed to put it in a certain place on the cooker, and I missed that moment and not put it there, I put it on the side,” he noted.

“Stephen does a beautiful job of realising that as he’s walking towards it and styling it out in a way where he picks it up and throws it, and you’d never know it didn’t come off the cooker.”

Boiling Point was up for four BAFTAs at the 2022 ceremony, including Outstanding British Film of the Year and Best Leading Actor for Graham.

The big winner of the night was Dune, which took home five awards across technical and music categories, while The Power Of The Dog won Best Film and Best Director for Jane Campion.

Eminem breaks RIAA record for most gold and platinum singles

Eminem has broken the record for the most gold and platinum singles certified by the RIAA in the organisation’s history.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced the news last week (March 8).

Eminem now has 166million single certifications and 61.5million album certifications after being awarded 73.5million new units. The new certifications put the Detroit rapper ahead of Drake, who previously held the record with 163.5million certifications, and Rihanna, who has 151.5million certifications.

He has also become one of only seven artists to have three or more diamond-certified albums, which an act scores after shifting more than 10million units in the US. He joins Garth Brooks (nine diamond albums), The Beatles (six), Led Zeppelin (five) and The Eagles, Shania Twain and Whitney Houston (three each) in the elite club.

“These awards recognize Eminem’s unflinching commitment to his craft and the enduring connection he has forged with fans over the last 20 years,” Mitch Glazier, CEO and chairman of the RIAA, said in a statement. “Congratulations to Eminem and his entire label team who have set the bar higher than ever.”

Earlier this month, The Game claimed that he is a better rapper than Eminem and challenged Slim Shady to go up against him in a VERZUZ rap battle. “I like Eminem, he’s one of the fucking good MCs, great MCs,” he said. “I used to think Eminem was better than me. He not. He not. He’s not. Challenge it.”

Previously, The Game listed Eminem as one of his Top 10 best rappers alive, which also included the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Drake and more.

Meanwhile, Eminem was one of the performers at this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show, alongside Lamar, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre and Mary J. Blige. During the performance, Eminem took the knee – a nod to the protest gesture previously made by former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

The Game says he’s a better rapper than Eminem

The Game has thrown down the gauntlet, claiming he’s a better rapper than Eminem, and he’s said he would happily go up against him in a VERZUZ battle.

The Compton rapper is the latest artist to appear as a guest on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s popular Drink Champs podcast.

During the chat, Game talked about how he wasn’t a fan Eminem busting out of the courthouse building during his Super Bowl performance alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent.

He then added that he feels he’s a better rapper than Eminem, even though he used to think otherwise. “I like Eminem, he’s one of the fucking good MCs, great MCs,” Game said.

“I used to think Eminem was better than me,” he admitted. Game was then asked how he feels now, to which he replied: “He not. He not. He’s not. Challenge it.”

N.O.R.E then told Game he’s “doesn’t wanna go VERZUZ against Eminem”, but Game disagreed. “Yeah I do,” he confidently stated.

You can watch the full episode of Game’s Drink Champs below:

Last year, Game named Eminem among his Top 10 rappers alive. The ‘Hate It Or Love It’ MC took to Twitter to share his list, making a point to exclude himself from it but adding he’ll “go bar for bar with anybody on the list”.

JAY-Z and Nas occupied the top two spots, followed by Lil’ Wayne, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. From six onwards the list got interesting, with names like Snoop Dogg, Drake, J. Cole and OutKast‘s Andre 3000 all appearing.

The newest name on the list came in at 10, with The Game opting to anoint Atlanta rapper Lil Baby as one of his “best rappers alive”.

Elsewhere during his appearance, The Game claimed Kanye West has done more for his career recently than Dr. Dre ever did.

“It’s crazy that Ye did more for me in the last two weeks, than Dre did for me my whole career,” he said.

It comes after The Game recently appeared with West, now legally known as Ye, on their collaborative track ‘Eazy’ and he appeared at the ‘Donda 2’ listening party last month.

Rudy Giuliani lays into Eminem for taking the knee during Super Bowl Halftime Show

Rudy Giuliani has heavily criticised Eminem for taking a knee during the Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this week.

The rapper’s symbolic move held much significance in the NFL, after it was used as a means of protest by former 49ers player Colin Kaepernick in 2016 to call attention to racial inequality and police brutality in the US.

The quarterback began kneeling during the US national anthem in the 2016 season, sparking a divided reaction from fans and politicians, including Donald Trump. Kaepernick became a free agent in 2017 and has not played in the NFL since.

Now, Giuliani, who was part of Trump’s personal legal team, has waded into the debate.

“Let’s get right to Eminem taking a knee,” he told New York radio station 77WABC. “Why doesn’t he go to another country? Go take a knee someplace else. You know how many cops were defending him and protecting him at that game yesterday? I mean, crime is way out of control in Los Angeles. He thinks that all happened because everybody loves Eminem?”

He added: “The simple reality is that the NFL has made a mockery out of law enforcement, particularly with its support for the cop-killing Black Lives Matter.”

Giuliani also mocked Snoop Dogg and referred to him as “Snoop ‘Kill the Police Doggy’ Dogg”, in reference to the rapper’s ‘Police’ lyrics: “Take your guns that you using to shoot each other / And start shooting these bitch-ass motherfucking police.”

This comes after the NFL denied reports that it attempted to stop Eminem from taking a knee.

“We watched all elements of the show during multiple rehearsals this week and were aware that Eminem was going to do that,” league spokesman Brian McCarthy said (via Sky Sports).

Elsewhere, it was recently reported that The Masked Singer judges Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong walked offstage after it was revealed that Giuliani was taking part in the US version of the show.

Giuliani was reportedly unmasked during the taping of the first episode of The Masked Singer‘s seventh season, with Thicke and Jeong leaving the stage in protest.

Despite that, the episode featuring Giuliani is set to air in March.

Eminem takes the knee during Super Bowl Halftime Show

Eminem took a knee during the Super Bowl Halftime Show tonight (February 13), despite reports that the NFL had barred him from doing so.

The move holds much significance in the American football league, after it was used as a means of protest by former 49ers player Colin Kaepernick to call attention to racial inequality and police brutality in the US.

The quarterback began kneeling during the national anthem at games in 2016, sparking divided reactions from fans and politicians, including Donald Trump. He became a free agent in 2017 and has not played in the NFL since.

Eminem took the knee after performing ‘Lose Yourself’ at the Super Bowl Halftime Show at LA’s SoFi Stadium, where he appeared alongside Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and surprise performer 50 Cent. According to reports, the NFL had denied the rapper permission to execute the move, but he did it anyway.

“Eminem the GOAT for kneeling even after the NFL told him not to do it,” one fan reacted on Twitter.

“Eminem kneels after NFL asked him not to. Don’t tell a goat how to behave,” another wrote. Another called the move “legend behaviour”. See more reactions below.

According to the New York Post, the NFL denied that it had asked Eminem not to kneel, saying players had been allowed to do so since 2016 “without sanctions” and that musical performers would not be penalised for doing so either.

Meanwhile, the rest of the performance saw Dr. Dre, Lamar, Blige and Snoop Dogg perform some of their biggest hits, while Eminem was joined by Anderson .Paak on drums for his performance of ‘Lose Yourself’.

Speaking ahead of the event, Snoop Dogg said performing at the halftime show was a “dream come true”. “I’m still thinking I’m in a dream because I can’t believe that they will let a real hip-hop artist grace the stage in an NFL Super Bowl,” he said. “We’re just going to wait for that moment and put something together that’s spectacular, and do what we’re known for doing and add on to the legacy.”

Eminem says Kendrick Lamar is one of the “top-tier lyricists” of all time

Eminem has praised Kendrick Lamar in a new interview, describing the Compton rapper as one of the “top-tier lyricists” of all time.

“I absolutely would agree with that,” Eminem replied. “Kendrick is at the very top, top tier of lyricists. Not just of his generation, but of all time.”

Elsewhere during the interview with Sway, Eminem admitted that he was feeling nervous about Sunday’s star-studded performance.

“It’s fucking nerve-racking,” the rapper said. “This is like, to me, there’s nothing more final than live TV. You know what I’m saying? So, if you fuck up, your fuck-up is there forever.

“When Dre first asked, when the whole thing started going down and we were like, ‘OK, this might be actually serious’, I was trying to envision what Dre might do,” he added.

Eminem is reportedly bringing the first deaf rappers to the Super Bowl’s halftime performance

Eminem is reportedly set to make history at next weekend’s Super Bowl LVI, bringing out the first deaf artists to perform during the game’s prestigious Halftime Show.

  • READ MORE: The biggest moments from The Weeknd’s Super Bowl half-time show

As reported by the Detroit Free Press, local rapper Sean Forbes – alongside colleague Warren (WaWa) Snipe, both of whom are deaf – will join Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar for the performance, which is set to go down at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Sunday February 13.

It’s reported that Forbes and WaWa will perform interpretations of the headliners’ songs in American Sign Language (ASL), marking the first time the NFL have incorporated ASL into a halftime performance. Described as “an elevated accessibility experience”, the renditions are due to be made available through the NBC Sports website and app.

Though it’ll be his first time performing for the Halftime Show, WaWa made his Super Bowl debut last year, joining Jazmine Sullivan and Eric Church to perform the US national anthem. Ahead of that performance, the artist told The Washington Post that he would “listen to the music over and over to get a feel of the music and the singing”.

Speaking on the significance of joining Eminem and co. for this year’s Halftime Show, Forbes told the Detroit Free Press: “The doors to accessibility are busted wide open with something like this.”

Though he stopped short of revealing any specific details about the performance, Forbes confirmed that he’d be joining Eminem and Snoop Dogg for their respective performances. He’s due to spend the next week rehearsing for the show in LA.

The artist also has familial ties to Eminem, it’s reported, with his father being linked to “some of the folks inside Em’s business and studio circles”. Forbes – who’d also performed regularly at the 54 Sound studio in Ferndale, where Eminem would frequent in his formative years – said the opportunity to join Eminem onstage is “very much a full-circle moment”.

“My goal is to get out there, show what we can do, and have fun,” he continued. “And I want to open the door for other deaf performers.”

Forbes’ most recent longform release is the EP ‘Little Victories’, released via his own Two Blown Speakers label in February of 2020. He followed it up that July with a standalone single titled ‘Hate’.

Meanwhile, this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show is primed to introduce “the next saga” of Dr. Dre’s career. A cinematic trailer for the event, helmed by Straight Outta Compton and Men In Black: International director F. Gary Gray, was released last month.

Last month, Cordae shared a throwback clip of himself rapping over Kanye West’s 2005 track ‘Gone’. The rapper revealed that the clip was filmed when he was 16.

Eminem reportedly spent $450,000 on a Bored Ape NFT that looks like him

Eminem has taken an interest in non-fungible tokens (NFTs), reportedly spending thousands on a Bored Ape artwork that resembles him.

The artwork – which is now the profile picture of Eminem’s official Twitter account – was apparently owned by Twitter user @Gee__Gazza, who tweeted over the weekend (January 1) that he had sold the NFT to Eminem himself. This was picked up by cryptocurrency news site Decrypt, who reported that Eminem bought the Ape for 123.45 Ethereum, which translates to around $450,000 (£334,000).

The artwork depicts an ape with white fur, a low grey hat, a gold jacket and matching chains. Upon selling the NFT, @Gee_Gazza expressed his incredulity at the exchange. View the tweet below:

Decrypt claims that the artwork is one of 15 NFTs that Eminem has bought, with the site noting an OpenSea account with the handle @Shady_Holdings.

Eminem is one of several celebrities to own an NFT distributed by the Bored Ape Yacht Club. Others include Jimmy Fallon, basketballer Steph Curry and Eminem’s ‘Up In Smoke’ tourmate Snoop Dogg.

This marks the latest entrepreneurial endeavour from the multi-platinum rapper, who notably launched the Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant in his hometown of Detroit last year – as well as a new line of merchandise and action figures.

Just last week, Ozzy Osbourne announced his own NFT collection, dubbed CryptoBatz.

In other news, Eminem dropped a surprise range of new merch, including collectible action figures and all-black clothing as part of his Black Friday collection. The figurines and apparel can be found via Eminem’s website, but all items have already sold out.

The rapper also opened his Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant in Detroit back in September, personally serving the first ten customers himself through the walk-up window. Speaking of his favourite menu item post-launch, the rapper said it had to be the spaghetti sandwich.

“It’s definitely some white trash shit. I still eat it today,” he said, adding, “don’t even eat a bite of your spaghetti until you put it in the bread, because otherwise you’re gonna ruin the whole fucking thing.”

Ed Sheeran says he and Eminem bonded over a love of cassette tapes

Ed Sheeran has revealed that he and Eminem became pen-pals after bonding over a shared love of cassette tapes.

Sheeran recently appeared on Later… with Jools Holland, where he explained how he and the rap icon – who have collaborated on three singles since 2017 – are both into cassette collecting.

“I collect cassettes and I’ve got Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder and they are quite difficult to find,” he said. “The only person I know who collects the same is Eminem.

“He collects cassettes, that’s his thing. He loves collecting. He is avid at going to find them. We have started having this, it’s like a very cool pen-pal thing. I got a message the other day [from Eminem] about an LL Cool J cassette. He said, ‘This is the cassette which made me want to start rapping’.

“I sent him Van Morrison and I will send him David Gray’s ‘White Ladder’ next.”

Sheeran and Eminem first linked up in 2017 for ‘River’, which appeared on the latter’s album ‘Revival’. They reunited in 2019 for ‘Remember The Name’ alongside 50 Cent, lifted from Sheeran’s ‘No.6 Collaborations Project’, and again a year later for ‘Those Kinda Nights’ from Eminem’s ‘Music To Be Murdered By’.

Back in August, Sheeran also said the pair share a fondness for Marvel films.

Sheeran recently tested positive for COVID-19, interrupting promotional plans for his upcoming album ‘=’.

He said on Instagram that he would be “doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house”. It is unclear if this will include his scheduled appearance on a forthcoming episode of Saturday Night Live.

Elton John thinks Young Thug is a better freestyler than Eminem

Elton John has revealed that he thinks Young Thug is the best freestyler he’s seen, even better than close friend Eminem.

Young Thug features on John’s upcoming album ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ on the track ‘Always Love You’ alongside Nicki Minaj.

Speaking in a new interview with Billboard, John says that when he was in the studio with Thug, he was “just blown away” before comparing his abilities to Eminem. “I mean, I’ve seen Marshall [Mathers] do it in Detroit, but I’ve never seen someone like Thug come in and do that.”

“In the end, I had to leave because I think he felt a bit intimidated that I was there and I just wanted him to relax,” John continued. “But it’s just an amazing moment in my musical life. I have no understanding of how rap records are put together and it’s fascinating to watch.”

Thug and John first crossed paths in 2018 when Thug sampled ‘Rocket Man’ on his track ‘High’ and reached out to the pop legend. “He wanted to meet me and we shot the breeze for 40 minutes,” said John about the encounter, before revealing that Thug asked him for advice.

After finding out he used to sing in choir, John said: “‘Sing more. Don’t just rap, sing more, because the mixture of rap and musicianship and melody is what really makes rap take off.’ And he’s doing that now.”

Announced in September, ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ will be John’s 32nd studio album. The record, out October 22, will feature collaborations with Miley Cyrus, Gorillaz, Andrew Watt, Brandi Carlile, Yo-Yo Ma, Stevie Wonder and more.

“All the tracks I worked on were really interesting and diverse, stuff that was completely different to anything I’m known for, stuff that took me out of my comfort zone into completely new territory,” John said about the record, which was recorded over lockdown when his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour’ was postponed.

Elton John’s ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Tour’ was rescheduled again last month, following a hip injury. The run of shows will now take place in 2023, following a headline slot at BST Hyde Park 2022.

Man who invaded Eminem’s home sentenced to five year probation

The man who invaded Eminem‘s Detroit home last April has been sentenced to five years probation and time served.

28-year-old Matthew David Hughes evaded the rapper’s security team to break into the home on April 5, 2020, before being detained and subsequently charged with first-degree home invasion and malicious destruction of a building. Hughes reportedly told the rapper he was “there to kill him”.

Yesterday (September 30), as reported by the Macomb Daily, Hughes was handed a sentence of five years probation and time served, after spending 524 days in jail awaiting the verdict. Eminem reportedly agreed with the sentence, but wasn’t in attendance at the hearing.

Prior to his arrest last April, Hughes broke into an older property belonging to Eminem – real name Marshall Mathers – in 2019.

That June, he was taken into custody for trespassing on two different properties, one of which was previously owned by the rapper. He was subsequently sentenced to 90 days in jail and ordered to pay fines totalling $1,400.

Earlier this week, it was announced that Eminem would be performing at the Super Bowl 2022 Halftime Show, alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg.

“This will introduce the next saga of my career… Bigger and Better than Ever!!!” Dre said of the performance, set to take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California on Sunday, February 13.

The NFL holding Super Bowl LVI in Inglewood holds a special significance for the greater Los Angeles community, as it hosts the Super Bowl for the first time in nearly 30 years.

“Artists like Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg were at the forefront of the West Coast hip hop revolution, so to be able to bring them back to LA, where it all began alongside Eminem, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar will prove to be an epic, unforgettable celebration of the impact hip hop has today,” said Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s VP of marketing.

As part of the collaboration around the Halftime Show, Pepsi and the NFL have also joined together to support the launch of Regional School #1, a magnet high school in South Los Angeles that is set to open for students next fall as part of the LA Unified School District.

Commercials for the eatery began airing locally on Friday (September 24), pointing viewers to a hotline for further information. Take a look at one of them below:

The Detroit News reports that Mom’s Spaghetti comes as a collaboration between Eminem and Metro Detroit restaurant group Union Joints, who the rapper had previously teamed up with for similar pop-ups in 2017 and 2018. Last April, the group delivered 400 meals under the Mom’s Spaghetti branding to local frontline workers.

Fans have speculated that the new pop-up is tied to a forthcoming album campaign, with rumours being spread that Eminem will drop new music on Friday October 1.

The rapper released his 11th album, ‘Music To Be Murdered By’, last January. It received three stars from NME, with a verdict that the “shock rapper continues to grow old disgracefully”. The record was followed up by the expanded ‘Music to Be Murdered By – Side B’ later in the year.

Artist vows to fix his Eminem mural in Detroit after it was vandalised

The US artist behind a new Eminem street mural in Detroit has vowed to return to the artwork to fix it after it was defaced with graffiti.

By the next day, however, the Eminem mural had been defaced, with 18 bird-like sketches being drawn with a Sharpie pen over the six-foot-tall artwork of the rapper.

Eminem playing FBI informant White Boy Rick in 50 Cent’s new series ‘BMF’

Eminem will portray FBI informant Richard Wershe Jr. – aka White Boy Rick – in 50 Cent‘s forthcoming Starz drama series BMF (Black Mafia Family).

Wershe was an FBI informant as a teenager in the mid-1980s, having infiltrated a Detroit gang. He was later dumped by the FBI and in 1987, at the age of 17, was arrested for cocaine possession and sentenced to life in prison, though was paroled and released last year at the age of 50. In 2017, a documentary on his life titled White Boy was released. The following year, a scripted drama titled White Boy Rick arrived.

As The Wrap reports, Em’s appearance will be relatively brief, with the rapper featuring in one episode of the series, which 50 served as an executive producer for. Outside of music videos, Eminem’s filmography is relatively short, though he made cameo appearances in the 2009 film Funny People and a 2010 episode of Entourage.

“I’m honored and appreciative of my good friend Em for supporting my new show ‘BMF,'” said 50 – real name Curtis Jackson – in a statement. “We couldn’t do a show based in Detroit without incorporating the legend that is Eminem.”

BMF is set to premiere on Starz on September 26, and will follow the drug and money laundering organisation Black Mafia Family, which was founded in 1989 in Detroit by brothers Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory.

A synopsis by Starz describes the series as “a story about love, kinship and capitalism in the pursuit of the American dream”.

Demetrius will be portrayed by his real-life son Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. Da’Vinchi, Russell Hornsby and Michole Briana White are also part of the cast, with recurring guest appearances from Snoop Dogg, La La Anthony and Serayah also confirmed.

Last month, 50 hinted that Power Book IV: Force, the third spin-off in the Power universe, may be on its way. Power Book III: Raising Kanan premiered on July 18, and was renewed for a second season ahead of its premiere.

Police attended the 46-year-old’s Michigan home on July 30 after receiving reports of a suicidal person, TMZ has claimed.

She was reportedly defensive when police arrived and eventually restrained. She was taken to hospital for medical and psychological evaluation, before returning home to recover.

Scott and Eminem are the parents to daughter Hailie, who was born in 1995.

The pair met as teenagers in 1989 when Scott ran away from home with sister Dawn. They moved into a then 15-year-old Eminem’s home at a trailer park and soon became a couple.

They tied the knot in 1999, but divorced just two years later.

They married again in January 2006, but divorced in April of the same year and agreed to share custody of Hailie.

Their relationship has also been reflected in Eminem’s music, with the singer penning controversial track ‘Kim’ – which appeared on 2000’s ‘The Marshall Mathers LP’.

Kim previously attempted suicide in October 2015.

She said to Detroit’s Channel 955 at the time: “I never expected to make it out of that alive. I apologized immensely. I did not even expect to make it through that, and I told [police] that I tried to do this on purpose.”

Hailing Eminem for his help after the overdose, she said: “He’s been real supportive. We’re really close.

“We’re just trying to raise our kids together and make it as normal for them as possible.”

Taking to social media today (August 3), Nas revealed the back cover for the incoming LP, which features a 15-song tracklist. The album will contain cuts such as ‘The Pressure’, ’40 Side’, ‘Store Run’, ‘Moments’, ‘Count Me In’ and ‘Nas Is Good’.

Elsewhere, there are team-ups with ‘Eminem’ (on ‘EPMD 2’), Ms. Lauryn Hill (‘Nobody’), Charlie Wilson (‘No Phony Love’), LA artist Blxst (‘Brunch On Sundays’) and the album’s executive producer Hit-Boy (‘Composure’).

The collaboration between Nas and Eminem marks the first time the pair have rapped together, although Marshall Mathers previously produced and co-wrote Nas’ 2002 song ‘The Cross’.

NY rap duo EPMD (Erick Sermon and Parrish Smith) will also appear on the Em-assisted track.

Earlier this year, Eminem revealed that he once spent $600 (£431) on a sealed cassette tape of Nas’ debut album ‘Illmatic’.

Nas’ King’s Disease’ arrived in August 2020 and went on to win Best Rap Album at the 2021 Grammys, Nas’ first ever award at the ceremony.

In a four-star review of the record, NME wrote: “‘King’s Disease’ is an acutely perceptive and culturally relevant body of work that finds its author willing to try out new ideas. There’s a genuine conversation to be had about whether it’s the best rap album of the year so far.”

Taking to social media on Friday (July 9), Nasaan – who’s the son of late D12 rapper Proof – posted a cryptic message depicting an eye emoji, a backward “E” and a fire symbol. You can see the message below.

He later said that he would “release this bitch right now if it was my say so”.

Nasaan also shared a snippet of the joint song on his Instagram Stories feed, which he captioned “SAAN X MARSHALL” before adding three flame emojis – check out the clip above.

News of a potential link-up between Nasaan and Em comes after the former released his new track ‘Busy’ (featuring SwaVay) last month.

Nasaan is yet to release his debut studio album, which will follow on from the EPs ‘Kiss Of Karma’ (2019) and this year’s ‘What Should I Call This Shit?’.

Meanwhile, Eminem recently signed Atlanta rapper Grip to his Shady Records label. Shady president Paul Rosenberg hailed Grip as “the type of artist that brings you into his world and expresses himself through a complete composed body of work”.

“It was one of those full circle moments because I grew up on Eminem so to have him reach out and let me know how dope my shit is was so cool,” Grip said of joining the roster. “Excited to partner with Shady/Interscope and get the music out on a larger platform.”

Mariah Carey impersonates Eminem on TikTok for ‘Obsessed’ anniversary

Mariah Carey dressed up as Eminem on TikTok to mark the anniversary of ‘Obsessed’, her 2009 single that appears to address rumours of their old romance.

  • READ MORE: Mariah Carey – ‘The Rarities’ review: a fascinating complement to her delicious tell-all memoir

The singer took to the shortform video platform on Wednesday (June 16) to share her own version of the ‘Wipe It Down’ challenge in which she is seen transforming herself from a housewife to a glammed-up singer – and then suddenly Slim Shady.

Carey’s clip pokes fun at a decade-old beef between herself and Eminem, the latter of whom has claimed the pair once had a six-month relationship. Carey has continually denied a tryst, however on ‘Obsessed’ from her 2009 album ‘Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel’ she suggests that Eminem was merely obsessed with her.

After the release of ‘Obsessed’ in July 2009, Eminem responded with a Dr. Dre-produced diss called ‘The Warning’ and criticised Carey for denying their apparent relationship.

Some of the graphic lyrics on the track read: “Listen, girly, surely you don’t want me to talk/ About how I nutted early ’cause I ejaculated prematurely/ And bust all over your belly and you almost started hurling/ And said I was gross, go get a towel, your stomach’s curling/ Or maybe you do, but if I’m embarrassin’ me/ I’m embarrassin’ you and don’t you dare say it isn’t true.”

In Carey’s new TikTok video, which is soundtracked by ‘Obsessed’, she impersonates a goateed Eminem, who looks much like the man in the song’s music video. It’s not entirely clear Carey has dressed up like the rapper other than for it to serve as a reminder of their beef on the song’s 12th birthday.

More recently, Eminem took aim at Carey and her ex-husband Nick Cannon in 2019 on the Fat Joe song ‘Lord Above’.

Meanwhile, Carey has strongly denied recent reports that she has been embroiled in a bitter feud with JaY-Z.

It was reported on June 6 that the singer had ended her deal with JAY-Z’s entertainment and management company following an “explosive” argument over her future.

Eminem and Post Malone collaboration appears to be teased online

A collaboration between Eminem and Post Malone appears to have been teased online – check out the posts below.

Malone, whose real name is Austin Post, explained back in 2019 that a planned team-up between himself and Marshall Mathers did not materialise due to conflicting “timing”.

He assured fans, however, that “there will be a time” the pair join forces in the future while hailing Eminem as “a fucking legend”.

Over the weekend, videographer Cole Bennett – who helmed the visuals for Mathers’ ‘Godzilla’ and ‘GNAT’ – provoked fresh rumours of an Em-Posty collaboration on his Instagram Stories feed.

Bennett shared an image of a yellow stick featuring a black barbed wire graphic, an item that is said to be from Malone’s Posty Fest. The same imagery also appears as the artwork to his 2018 album ‘Beerbongs & Bentleys’, while the rapper has barbed wire tattooed across his forehead.

Captioning the cryptic post, Bennett included the shushing face and surprised face emojis but did not offer any further details. With fans speculating over the prospect of a joint project, the director later deleted the upload.

As Hot New HipHop notes, Eminem collaborator White Gold said earlier this year that he’d be up for getting involved with a possible joint single with Posty. “There’s one I really want [Mathers] and Post Malone to do,” he said. “I have the perfect song for them to be on.”

Meanwhile, rumours emerged recently of a potential collaboration between Eminem, Dr. Dre and Kendrick Lamar.

Post Malone is set to headline this summer’s Reading & Leeds festivals alongside Liam Gallagher, Stormzy, Catfish & The Bottlemen and Queens of The Stone Age. He’ll also top the bill at Lollapalooza Chicago, which returns in July.

12-year-old Gaza rapper goes viral with verses about violence in Palestine over Eminem beat

A young rapper from Gaza has gone viral, after penning and performing a free verse about the current Israel-Palestine crisis over an Eminem beat.

In the track, assisted by Irish producer Garraí Mac (aka GMCBeats), the 12-year-old MC Abdul delivers impassioned bars over the beat of Eminem’s ‘Cleanin’ Out My Closet’.

The young MC raps for about a minute about the violence the territory has experienced throughout the crisis, which according to the New York Times has killed at least 227 people in Gaza and 12 in Israel.

Palestine’s been occupied for decades, but a home for centuries / This land has generations of my family’s memories,” Abdul raps on the track, titled ‘Palestine’.

Imagine being kicked out of the only house you’ve ever known / We’re praying for our souls while they’re preying on our homes,” he adds.

“This past week has been very tough for my home, Gaza City. I just want the world to know about the situation in Palestine,” Abdul wrote in the caption of his post.

“Music is what keeps me going. Stay safe everyone. All we want is peace.”

A post shared by MC Abdul (@mca.rap)

The video, uploaded four days ago, has since been viewed over 4.5million times on the rapper’s Instagram account. Over 20,000 comments have been left on the post, many praising the talented young artist for his message.

Palestinian-American producer DJ Khaled shared the clip on his own Instagram account, writing, “Bless up the young world @mca.rap. Praying for Love and peace to the world and Unity! Praying for love and peace ??  and the whole world everyone love and peace. LOVE IS THE ANSWER.”

The current crisis between Israel and Palestine began after Israeli police blocked off the Damascus Gate, where Palestinian Arabs typically gather for Ramadan.

That led to an attack on Orthodox Jews, which in turn led to the Israeli police raiding the al-Aqsa Mosque, according to various news outlets including Vox.

A series of airstrikes and rocket attacks followed between Israel and Palestinian militants, with Israel attacking Gaza with hundreds of airstrikes it claimed were targeting Hamas bases. Hamas and other militant groups have retaliated with rockets aimed at Israeli cities, many of which have fallen short or been intercepted by Israel’s “iron dome” defence system.

As the current conflict reaches its 11th day, the New York Times reports that a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas could soon be reached, as US President Joe Biden has told Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu he “expected a significant de-escalation today” on Wednesday (May 19).

Protests in support of the Palestinian people have taken place around the world in the last week, and numerous artists have spoken out about the crisis, including Nadine Shah and Primal Scream. Last week, Rage Against the Machine and Halsey were among those that also showed solidarity with Palestine.

“The violence and atrocities we are witnessing in Sheikh Jarrah, the Al Aqsa compound and Gaza are a continuation of decades of Israel’s brutal apartheid and violent occupation of Palestine,” RATM wrote on Twitter. “We stand with the Palestinian people as they resist this colonial terror in all its forms.”

Halsey, meanwhile, called it “wilful ignorance to conflate these simple horrors with religion and geopolitics”.

“It is not ‘too complicated to understand’ that brown children are being murdered and people are being displaced under the occupation of one of the most powerful armies in the world,” she wrote.

The Game names Eminem and Drake among his Top 10 rappers alive

The Game has named his Top 10 rappers alive, a list that includes the likes of Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, JAY-Z and Drake.

  • READ MORE: The Big Read – The Game: “Me and 50 Cent should have died in that beef”

On Friday (May 7), the ‘Hate It Or Love It’ rapper took to Twitter to share his list, making a point to exclude himself from it but adding he’ll “go bar for bar with anybody on the list”.

Best rapper lists have long sparked debate in the world of hip-hop, and even more so when it’s an MC sharing their own personal list; The Game’s has proved no different if the comments on his post are anything to go by.

The Compton rapper put JAY-Z and Nas in the top two spots, followed by Lil’ Wayne, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. From six onwards the list gets interesting, with names like Snoop Dogg, Drake, J. Cole and OutKast‘s Andre 3000 all appearing.

The newest name on the list comes in at 10, with The Game opting to anoint Atlanta rapper Lil Baby as one of his “best rappers alive”.

You can see the list in full below:

Earlier this year, Justin Bieber got in on the action sharing his Top Five rappers of all time.

The singer, whose latest album ‘Justice’ arrived last week, shared his list while appearing on DJ Khaled‘s The First One podcast.

Bieber began by acknowledging the can of worms he was potentially opening, saying “You know, when you open this conversation there’s always room for, ‘Aw, he can’t believe this,’”.

“But… I would say, Lil Wayne, Biggie, Eminem, Kanye West and my favourite is Drizzy Drake.”

Last year, Eminem shared a list of his favourite rappers of all time, replying to a fan on Twitter.

YouTuber NoLifeShaq shared a tweet reading: “Who is the greatest rapper of all time,” with a video attached of himself DMing the same question to a host of rappers including Drake and Travis Scott.

In a surprise reply to the tweet, Eminem laid out his list, which includes 2Pac, JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar and more.

“For me, in no particular order…” Eminem wrote. “Toss up between wayne, pac, royce, jay, redman, treach, g. rap, biggie & king crook….”

He then added more names, tweeting: “Plus redman, LL, nas, joyner, kendrick, cole, andre, rakim, kane…”

Meanwhile, The Game has said that he would be willing to take part in a VERZUZ battle – but only if he was pitted against 50 Cent.

Eminem reveals he once spent $600 on a cassette of Nas’ ‘Illmatic’

Eminem has revealed that he once spent $600 (£431) on a sealed cassette tape of Nas‘ debut album ‘Illmatic’.

Appearing in a Clubhouse room as part of his ‘Shady Con’ online event, Marshall Mathers spoke to Paul Rosenberg and DJ Whoo Kid about his personal record collection, explaining that he’s “been collecting since I was a kid”.

“Everything from comic books to baseball cards to toys, as well as every rap album on cassette I could get my hands on,” he said. “Not much has changed for me as an adult.”

The rapper went on to say that his “most coveted” purchase is an unopened copy of Nas’ first studio record ‘Illmatic’, which was released back in 1994.

“Man, I couldn’t find that shit nowhere – I finally found one and it cost like 500 to 600 dollars for a sealed copy,” Eminem said. “Because who the fuck had a copy of ‘Illmatic’ and didn’t open it? Nobody.”

“I think it’s backstock from what record stores had in the back storage, the tapes that never sold so they just kept them and sold them online,” he added. “That’s the only thing I can think of. Cause nobody’s going to have a fucking ‘Illmatic’ tape and not open it.”

Mathers was then asked how much an opened copy of ‘The Slim Shady LP’ (1999) would sell for, to which he jokingly replied: “12 cents.”

You can listen to the full conversation in the video above.

The rapper last week announced the launch of his digital festival ‘Shady Con’, giving fans the chance to own “a variety of Eminem-approved NFT collectibles” as well as some “original instrumental beats produced by Slim Shady himself”.

An official description on Eminem’s website reads: “’Shady Con’ provides Stans, fans, NFT enthusiasts and collectors one opportunity to own a piece from this premier drop. Born from the convergence of blockchain technology, creative enthusiasm, and pandemic doldrums, this drop was inspired by Eminem’s passion as a vintage toy, comic book and trading card collector that traces back to his childhood days as just ‘plain old Marshall’.”

News of the project came shortly after a sketch on SNL used Eminem’s hit single ‘Without Me’ in a parody to explain the current NFT craze.

Eminem to share first NFT collection, ‘Shady Con’

Eminem will share his first NFT (non-fungible token) collection, ‘Shady Con’, this weekend.

Yesterday (April 22), the rapper announced the launch of ‘Shady Con’ which will take the form of a digital festival which will give fans the chance to own an NFT collectable from Sunday (April 25), 11:30 BST (6:30 ET) on NFT marketplace Nifty Gateway. Eminem had teased the NFT earlier this week.

A description on Eminem’s website says the collection “will feature a variety of Eminem-approved NFT collectibles” as well as some “original instrumental beats produced by Slim Shady himself specifically for this release.”

It continues: “The tracks will be made available only as part of the limited-edition and one-of-a-kind NFTs…But this only scratches the surface of what’s coming this weekend!”

Watch a preview of the event here:

Speaking about the collection, Eminem said: “I’ve been collecting since I was a kid, everything from comic books to baseball cards to toys, as well as every rap album on cassette I could get my hands on.

“Not much has changed for me as an adult…I’ve attempted to re-create some of those collections from that time in my life, and I know I’m not alone. I wanted to give this drop the same vibe of, ‘Oh, man I gotta get just that one or maybe even the whole set!’ It’s been a lot of fun coming up with ideas from my own collecting passion.”

A description on Eminem’s website added: “Shady Con” provides Stans, fans, NFT enthusiasts and collectors one opportunity to own a piece from this premier drop. Born from the convergence of blockchain technology, creative enthusiasm, and pandemic doldrums, this drop was inspired by Eminem’s passion as a vintage toy, comic book and trading card collector that traces back to his childhood days as just ‘plain old Marshall.’

“Make no mistake, this is a digital festival…but it’s [modelled] after the traditional ‘Con’ gatherings where fans come together and trade their wares. You may not be able to get together with thousands of Stans in a poorly ventilated convention [centre] somewhere on the outskirts of 8 Mile Rd., but this weekend you can rub elbows with each other on Nifty Gateway and own a piece of the collectible, non-fungible action!”

Last week, a sketch from Saturday Night Live used one of Eminem’s songs in a parody to explain the current NFT craze.

In the sketch, broadcasted last month, SNL regular Pete Davidson and Jack Harlow used Marshall Mathers’ hit ‘Without Me’ to explain the idea behind NFTs to viewers.

NFTs have been in the news a lot recently, with the music industry and artists such as Grimes, The Weeknd, Kings Of Leon getting involved in the craze. Speaking recently about the NFT craze, Calvin Harris said that the cryptocurrency form has the potential to “completely revolutionise the music industry”.

An NFT, as NME‘s Mark Beaumont explained recently in a blog, is a form of cryptocurrency asset. Most cryptocurrencies are fungible (or ‘spendable’) tokens; you can exchange them for other cryptocurrencies or spend them on goods where they’re accepted.

“Non-fungible tokens act like digital gold bars, rare trading cards or paintings kept in safe storage – they’re kept on the blockchain (basically a Cloud for financial assets, but where everyone with an account keeps a note of what you own) in your name but you can only sell or trade them as collectibles,” he wrote.

Someone’s mashed up Linkin Park, Slipknot and Eminem into one incredible track

YouTuber Daniel Schwind, aka XYClanKILLER2 has mashed up tracks from Linkin Park, Slipknot and Eminem into a single song entitled ‘Until I Bleed’.

The track makes use of Linkin Park’s ‘Victimised’, ‘Don’t Stay’, ‘Points Of Authority’ and ‘One Step Closer’, Eminem’s ‘Till I Collapse’ and ‘Soldier, and Slipknot’s ‘Wait And Bleed’.

You can take a listen to ‘Until I Bleed’ below which comes along with an ‘official’ music video comprising of archive live footage of all three artists, painstakingly synced with the track’s various vocals.

It’s not Schwind’s first mash-up. The YouTuber has previously combined Linkin Park and Slipknot’s music to make other tracks, and has also used music by the likes of Bring Me The Horizon and Avril Lavigne.

The internet has been proving fertile ground for music mashups of late. Last month, YouTuber Bill McClintock combined Van Halen’s ‘Unchained’ with Stevie Wonder’s ‘Uptight’ to create a new track which he titled ‘Chained Uptight’.

Last week, meanwhile, fans of late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington paid tribute to the late singer on what would have been his 45th birthday.

His widow Talinda Bennington also posted a heartfelt message. “You would have been 45 and yes, Tyler would have you doing this dance again!” she wrote alongside a video of Chester dancing with their son. “This life without you never gets easier or less painful.

Last year, Linkin Park revealed that they still have unreleased material featuring Bennington, who passed away in July 2017 at the age of 41 having taken his own life.

Watch Pete Davidson parody Eminem’s ‘Without Me’ to explain how NFTs work

Pete Davidson and Jack Harlow teamed up on Saturday Night Live over the weekend to deliver a not-so-serious explainer behind the current trend of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs).

Davidson is seen in the video donning a Batman & Robin-style costume as he parodies Eminem‘s song ‘Without Me’ to explain the trend, with Harlow also appearing in the clip as a caretaker.

“Here’s the thing about NFTs, it’s a non-fungible token you see,” Harlow raps in the clip. “Non-fungible means that it’s unique, there can only be one – like you or me.”

NFTs have regularly been in the news recently, with the music industry and artists such as Grimes and Kings Of Leon getting involved in the craze.

However, they are not without controversy – it was revealed recently that the sale of the digital items can have a huge effect on climate change.

Gorillaz, who tackled environmentalism on 2010’s ‘Plastic Beach’, announced last week (March 26) that they would be selling an NFT to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their debut album.

However, as a recent report by Wired states, the impact of selling NFTs on climate change and the environment could be hugely negative. According to the publication, the 10 seconds it took for cryptocurrency website Nifty Gateway used up 8.7 megawatts of energy – which is similar to how much electricity one household uses in a year.

Elsewhere, Elon Musk recently announced plans to release a song about NFTs as an NFT.

Eminem’s ‘Curtain Call: The Hits’ breaks Billboard chart history

Eminem‘s greatest hits album ‘Curtain Call’ has spent a full decade on the Billboard 200 chart.

Released back in 2005, the collection brought together Slim Shady’s biggest tracks of his career up until that point – including ‘My Name Is’, ‘Stan’, ‘Without Me’ and ‘Lose Yourself’. It debuted at Number One, shifting around 441,000 copies in just two days.

As Forbes reports, the compilation has become the first hip-hop record to sit a full 10 years in the Billboard 200. The latest chart, dated March 21 (via Chart Data), sees ‘Curtain Call’ reach the 520 weeks milestone.

It is now the sixth longest-running album in Billboard 200 history, coming in behind Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ (958 weeks), Bob Marley And The Wailers’ ‘Legend’ (669), Journey’s ‘Greatest Hits’ (659), Metallica’s ‘The Black Album’ (598) and Guns N’ Roses’ ‘Greatest Hits’ (520).

The aforementioned figures are taken from last week’s (March 20) chart.

‘Curtain Call’ re-entered the Billboard 200 last October, having remained in the chart for nine and a half years (496 weeks) after its initial release. It was already the longest-running rap album in Billboard history, hitting 350 weeks back in August 2017. The record has sold over 7 million copies in the US to date.

Eminem’s latest album, ‘Music To Be Murdered By — Side B’, came out last December.

Lil Nas X trolls TikTokkers trying to cancel Eminem

Lil Nas X has dropped a new TikTok video that trolls the platforms users who have been trying to cancel Eminem.

A campaign started last week calling for Eminem to be cancelled because of some of the controversial lyrics found in his catalogue over the years.

A debate then ensued pitting Millennials against Gen Z, with the former group of older Eminem fans largely coming to the rapper’s defence and saying that the younger generation is decades late to being offended by an artist known for controversial statements.

One particular video defending Eminem sees TikTok user @cassiesmith607 call out Gen Z by rapping over the instrumental for Dr. Dre and Em’s 1999 track ‘Forgot About Dre’ – see it below.

Lil Nas X has now got involved sharing a parody of the video, where he appears to mock the opening bars of @cassiesmith607’s video.

“Generation Z wants to cancel Eminem?/ Generation Z wants to cancel Eminem?/ Yeah, listen up, Generation/ Z, you’re a generation of Z/ Z, generation of Z,” he says in the TikTok clip. He then ends the video instead of attempting to recreate the rest of the viral video.

Fans are speculating that Eminem could be working with Rakim after DJ Premier posted a photo of the pair.

Despite both having decades-long careers in hip-hop and many occasions of praising each other, somehow the two artists have never worked together before.

Now, fans are wondering if that could change thanks to DJ Premier’s post. The producer and DJ unexpectedly posted an old photo of the two rappers on his Instagram Story. He shared no context behind the photo, simply tagging both artists in the post.

In June 2020, Eminem included Rakim in a list of his greatest rappers of all-time when responding to a question on Twitter. He also chose the likes of Jay-Z, Nas, Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G. in his list.

In a more recent interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, he also referenced the New York rapper while talking about how he doesn’t feel as influential as some of his hip-hop peers. “When people try to compare eras, hip-hop’s [gone] through too many different transitions for anyone to be the best rapper of all time,” he said.

“Rap has gone through transitions, it’s evolved, now people are doing things with flows that I never could have seen happening. But rappers from [Rakim’s] era meant so much to that era, just because there were so many innovators.”

In 2019, Rakim praised Eminem in an interview, saying: “He is a beast. That’s my man.”

To be able to work on this video together with his team – not only featuring our team’s great UFC coverage but also debuting it exclusively on ABC, is just invaluable.”

A clip of Eminem telling White his opinion “doesn’t matter” went viral earlier this week (January 22) after it was broadcast on ESPN’s Sportscenter show. Unaware of the upcoming music video, fans assumed the interview was real.

Meanwhile, Eminem recently gave a humble estimation of his legacy, saying he doesn’t think he’s as influential as some other rap legends.

“I know I’ve been around for a minute, but I don’t feel like honestly, in my heart of hearts, I don’t feel like anything I did, anything I’ve done up to this point is more influential than they were to their era,” he told Zane Lowe in a recent interview.

“To me, I will never mean more than they meant to their era.”

Speaking on ESPN’s Sportscenter show ahead of the fight – due to his song ‘Higher’ being used as the soundtrack to the trailer for the big showdown – Eminem called into question the legitimacy of White’s notorious opinions about certain fighters.

“The best part about your opinion is that it doesn’t matter,” Eminem said. “And if every fighter that you had listened to your opinion when you doubted them, you wouldn’t have a fucking league.”

In other news, Eminem recently delivered a humble estimation of his own legacy – admitting he doesn’t feel as influential as some of rap’s other icons.

“I know I’ve been around for a minute, but I don’t feel like honestly, in my heart of hearts, I don’t feel like anything I did, anything I’ve done up to this point is more influential than they were to their era,” he told Zane Lowe in a new interview.

“To me, I will never mean more than they meant to their era.”

In another new interview, the rapper says he had to learn to rap again after suffering a near-fatal drug overdose in 2007.

“You know, a lot of times, especially with the ‘Relapse’ record,” he said, “when I first started learning how to rap again, because of the drug situation that I went through and having to relearn a lot of things, that was one of those things that it was like: ‘Well, if it rhyme, say it.'”

Snoop Dogg says rumoured Eminem beef was “family business”

Snoop Dogg has described the rumoured falling-out between himself and Eminem as being “family business”, insisting that the two rappers are still friends.

Snoop’s latest comments follow on a week after the rapper appeared to publicly end the beef between himself and Eminem, which began back in July after Snoop explained why he hadn’t chosen Eminem to be in his list of the top 10 rappers of all time.

Eminem responded to Snoop’s comments on his recent track ‘Zeus’, which appeared on the deluxe edition of ‘Music To Be Murdered By’.

As far as squashing beef I’m used to people knocking me,” he rapped. “But just not in my camp / And diplomatic as I’m tryin’ to be / Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me / Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me / Meh, not really (haha) / I had dog backwards.

After Eminem detailed in a subsequent interview why he had decided to call out Snoop on ‘Zeus’, Snoop responded earlier this month by saying: “Pray I don’t answer that soft ass Shit.”

Speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this week, Snoop continued to play down the discord between himself and Eminem as he was asked about the ‘Zeus’ line by a pair of fans.

“We still friends,” Snoop said about his current relationship with Eminem, before addressing their rumoured beef. “I think that’s family business and I don’t want to make it more than what it is.

“He said what he said [on ‘Zeus’], I respect that, we just going to keep it right there. It’s family business.”

Eminem recently broke down his in-song apology to Rihanna on ‘Zeus’, claiming that he had “zero recollection” of recording the controversial lyrics about the singer which leaked online in 2019.

Eminem reportedly upset Snoop Dogg by rejecting album feature

Eminem and Snoop Dogg’s recent disputes reportedly stem from Eminem declined to appear on an album by the latter.

The rappers first appeared to be on bad terms in July 2020 when Snoop explained why he didn’t think Eminem was one of the top 10 greatest rappers of all time in an interview.

Eminem later responded on ‘Zeus’, which appeared on the deluxe edition of ‘Music To Be Murdered By’. “As far as squashing beef I’m used to people knocking me,” he rapped. “But just not in my camp / And diplomatic as I’m tryin’ to be / Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me / Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me / Meh, not really (haha) / I had dog backwards.

Now Daz Dillinger has offered an explanation for the pair’s apparent feud. Appearing on new audio social networking app Clubhouse with Royce Da 5’9”, N.O.R.E. and Joe Budden recently, the Death Row rapper claimed Snoop was upset that Eminem had “said no” to his offer of appearing on an album.

“He took it personally and that’s why you never heard a song from Snoop and Em since then,” Dillinger said.

Royce, meanwhile, tried to see things from Eminem’s perspective. “He was just like damn… that energy that was coming off of Snoop in that interview, [whether] he meant no harm or not, I think he just looked at it like, it’s a more respectful brotherly way to say what you said,” he explained. “But I agree, it didn’t have to be a diss in a song behind it.”

The spat continued on New Year’s Eve, with Eminem speaking about the situation in a new interview, saying his fellow rapper’s comments “threw me for a loop”. “Again, I probably could’ve gotten past the whole tone and everything, but it was the last statement where he said, ‘Far as music I can live without, I can live without that shit,’” he said. “Now you’re being disrespectful. It just caught me off guard. I wasn’t ready for that.”

Snoop Dogg reacts to latest call-out in Eminem dispute

Snoop Dogg has responded to online comments regarding his recent low-key beef with Eminem.

The dispute started back in July 2020, when Snoop explained why Eminem didn’t make his top 10 greatest rappers of all time – and cited a number of hip hop stars who he rates higher than the Detroit artist.

Despite maintaining that Eminem was still “one of my teammates, one of my brothers,” Snoop concluded with a bombshell: “But when you’re talking about this hip-hop shit that I can’t live without, I can live without that.”

Em then responded on ‘Zeus,’ from the deluxe edition of his ‘Music to Be Murdered By’ album: “As far as squashing beef I’m used to people knocking me / But just not in my camp / And diplomatic as I’m tryin’ to be / Last thing I need is Snoop doggin’ me / Man, Dogg, you was like a damn god to me / Meh, not really (haha) / I had dog backwards.”

In an interview via Eminem’s own station Shade 45 on December 31, he later clarified it was “more about the tone he was using” that caught the rapper “off guard”.

“I just saw you [Snoop]. What the fuck? It threw me for a loop. Again, I probably could’ve gotten past the whole tone and everything, but it was the last statement where he said, ‘Far as music I can live without, I can live without that shit.’ Now you’re being disrespectful. It just caught me off guard. I wasn’t ready for that.”

“I know I’ve been around for a minute, but I don’t feel like honestly, in my heart of hearts, I don’t feel like anything I did, anything I’ve done up to this point is more influential than they were to their era,” he said. “To me, I will never mean more than they meant to their era.”

“And that, man, a lot of times people, when they ask me what my top favorite rappers are, I don’t even know how to answer that, because there’s so many rappers that have been so great and still are great.”

He added: “And by the way, I think Rakim probably is still great. I haven’t heard anything he’s working on lately, but I guarantee you he ain’t lost that shit, because that kind of shit don’t go away. It just doesn’t.”

Going on to talk more about top rapper lists, Eminem said he thinks they should be done according to each artist’s era.

“I rap to be the best rapper, but I’m not the only rapper who raps to be the best rapper,” he said. “[Lil] Wayne, [J.] Cole, Kendrick [Lamar], Joyner Lucas. They rap to be the best rapper, and I feel like when you push yourself like that, that’s what I feel like inspires greatness.

“But the list, man, sometimes you almost have to go by era. 2Pac. I feel like rappers like Rakim, [Kool] G Rap, [Big Daddy] Kane, Treach, Pharoahe Monch… when KRS-One would drop some new shit, it just outdid whatever was before that.”

He continued: “And then along comes Rakim, and he out does that. And then along comes G Rap and he starts out doing everyone else. Redman. Redman was, to me, one of the most consistent artists, still rapping to this day is one of the most consistently dope rappers.”

Elsewhere during the interview, Em talked about his cassette collection and how nothing feels the same as listening to a tape.

“A record is not going to give you the the feel of having the tape, and it’s not going to give you the information,” he said about his passion for cassettes while sitting in front of his collection. “It’s not going to give you all that, you know what I’m saying? So for me, I always collected tapes. I know a lot of my friends collected vinyl back in the day, but me, I’ve been… I’m a tape person.”

NME gave ‘Music To Be Murdered By’ a three-star review upon its surprise release in January.

Eminem responds to Barack Obama’s dramatic reading of ‘Lose Yourself’

Eminem has responded to former US President Barack Obama‘s dramatic reading of the lyrics from his song ‘Lose Yourself’.

Last week, Obama launched a new Instagram series looking back at his presidency to tie in with his recently published memoir A Promised Land.

In a video trailing the project, Obama spoke about how he turned to hip-hop in order to focus during his 2008 campaign for the presidency.

“When I needed some inspiration on the presidential campaign I often turned to music,” Obama says. “It was rap that got my head in the right place. Two songs especially: Jay-Z‘s ‘My 1st Song’ and Eminem’s ‘Lose Yourself’.

“Both were about defying the odds and putting it all on the line,” he continued, before reciting the opening lines of the latter.

Eminem responded to the shout-out late last week, posting the clip of Obama’s reading along with a prayer hands emoji.

In November ‘Lose Yourself’ featured in a Spotify playlist that was shared by the former president to promote his new memoir.

The playlist also included Beyoncé‘s ‘Halo’ and a cover of Etta James‘ ‘At Last’, Bruce Springsteen’s ‘The Rising’ and a tribute to his wife in the form of ‘Michelle’ by The Beatles.

The Obamas inked an exclusive deal with Spotify in June 2019, when it was announced they would produce a series of podcasts under their Higher Ground Productions.

A year later, in July this year, Michelle released the first instalment of her podcast series The Michelle Obama Podcast to the music and streaming platform. She also hopped on the playlist bandwagon, releasing her 2020 workout mix in January plus a selection of tracks that inspired the first season of her podcast in August.

Ty Dolla $ign declares Eminem “the greatest rapper of all time”

Ty Dolla $ign has hailed Eminem “the greatest rapper of all time”.

The LA musician declared Slim Shady the GOAT while making his bid for a collaboration.

“I have not done a song with Eminem yet,” Ty Dolla told Hot Freestyle on Wednesday (December 2). “Which I would love to. He’s the GOAT for sure.

“I always said like the only rapper that I think is better than Eminem is Slim Shady. So yeah it will happen for sure. What up, Em? Holla at me,” the ‘Or Nah’ singer said.

As HipHopDX points out, a collaboration might not just be a pipe dream since Ty Dolla and the late Nate Dogg – whom Eminem collaborated with multiple times in the 2000s – have worked together before.

And another frequent Eminem collaborator, Snoop Dogg, said recently that Ty Dolla is a reincarnation of Nate Dogg.

Ty Dolla said he was “honoured” by Snoop’s comparison. “I feel blessed, I feel honoured,” he told Power 106 FM in October. “I feel like Nate Dogg was carrying a huge torch and he passed it down. I just talked to my other homie that told me that he talked to Snoop on his birthday, and Snoop said that. Snoop said I’m the reincarnation of Nate Dogg. When I heard that, I was like alright, Snoop saying it? That means everything, man. Like I said, it’s an honour.”

Dr. Dre’s new album is reportedly finished, and features Eminem

Dr. Dre‘s new album is finished, and features a performance from Eminem, a Detroit rapper has teased.

  • READ MORE: Dr. Dre’s ‘The Chronic’: A 4/20 deep dive into the album that changed hip-hop forever

Taking to Twitter this week (November 16), Page Kennedy indicated that he’d heard what would be the legendary artist’s fourth studio album, and first since 2015’s ‘Compton’.

“This Dr. Dre album sounding [fire]” he wrote. “Hope y’all get to hear.”

Kennedy then seemingly confirmed an Eminem feature on the album. “Wait, also need to know when is Em dropping his…please,” a fan wrote, to which Kennedy replied: “Well he def on this one lol.”

Reviewing Dr. Dre’s latest studio album, 2015’s ‘Compton’, NME wrote: “‘Compton’ is guest-packed, a wise choice for several reasons. For one, Dre is not hip-hop’s greatest wordsmith – famously, he’s employed ghostwriters to pen rhymes, and his skill on the mic remains gruffly able, rather than flamboyant or particularly rich in craft.

“But the line-up, mixing A-listers (Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, The Game, Snoop Dogg) with talented newcomers (such as the aforementioned Mez, or R&B singer Anderson .Paak, who appears on six of these 16 tracks) means Dre looks like a man with an enviable phone book, but still with his ear to the streets.”

Earlier this year, Kanye West revealed that there’s a Dr. Dre remix of his 2019 track ‘Use This Gospel’ featuring Eminem.

“Eminem Thank you for rapping on the Dr Dre remix of my daughter’s favorite song of mine USE THIS GOSPEL,” tweeted West.

Earlier this year, Dr. Dre’s December 1992 solo album ‘The Chronic’ became available for the first time ever on all major streaming platforms to celebrate 4/20, 2020.

“I would love to spar against anybody,” Busta replied. “As long as their catalogue is a powerful catalogue because I don’t want to do a corny Verzuz.

“I don’t wanna do no Verzuz with anybody whose catalogue isn’t crazy. And I would love to do a Verzuz with somebody that I’m a fan of because I’m only trying to compete with somebody that brings the best out of me.”

He continued: “I would love to do a Verzuz with Eminem, I would love to do a Verzuz with Lil Wayne. I would love to do a Verzuz with Hov.

Busta went on to say that he’d be up for taking on “two artists at the same time” on the show. “I actually presented that before T.I. started talking like that,” he added.

The second season of Verzuz will kick-off next Thursday (November 19), with T.I. set to battle Jeezy in the first episode.

Busta recently recalled losing a high school rap battle to his then fellow student Jay-Z, explaining that he “always wanted to have my rematch”. “It didn’t happen which was fine because I ended up getting my skillset developed to the point where I don’t think nobody want to fuck with a n***a now,” he added.

Busta Rhymes released his latest record, ‘Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath Of God’, on October 30. In a four-star review, NME wrote: “[The album is] bursting at the seams with ferocious drum patterns, inventive samples […] dazzling wordplay and an all-star cast only Busta could assemble.”

Eminem and Cannon’s feud spans more than a decade. The issues between them largely stemmed from Cannon’s relationship with his ex-wife Mariah Carey, who Em has dissed on multiple occasions.

Slim Shady’s most recent diss aimed at Cannon emerged in 2019 when he took a shot at his rival on Fat Joe’s ‘Lord Above’. Cannon responded with a string of his own disses including ‘Pray For Him’ and ‘The Invitation’.

The album already holds the record for the longest-running rap album in Billboard’s history, hitting 350 weeks in August 2017. Reviewing the album, NME wrote that it saw Eminem “growing old disgracefully,” adding: “The 47-year-old has surprise-released another album. This one veers between maturity and adolescent outbursts, between clumsy pop commercialism and something close to outsider art. Comedian and Eminem impersonator Chris D’Elia responds to sexual harassment and misconduct allegations

Comedian Chris D’Elia has issued a statement denying the numerous claims of sexual harassment and misconduct that have been made against him this week.

The first allegations against D’Elia were made online on Tuesday (June 16) after a woman named Simone Rossi accused the comedian of “grooming” her when she was 16, while tweeting screenshots of alleged interactions she’d had with D’Elia.

“Imagine being 16 and being groomed by a stand-up comedian twice ur age and the only reason you never met up and never got physically molested was because u had just gotten a boyfriend ur own age,” she wrote on Twitter.

After Rossi’s tweet went viral, numerous other women came forward with further allegations against D’Elia. The Twitter account @SheRatesDogs maintained a running thread of the allegations, which included screenshots of alleged interactions with D’Elia and numerous more accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct.

In a statement first obtained by TMZ yesterday (June 17), D’Elia denied the allegations and said that he had “never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point”.

“I know I have said and done things that might have offended people during my career, but I have never knowingly pursued any underage women at any point,” he said.

“All of my relationships have been both legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged any inappropriate photos with the people who have tweeted about me. That being said, I really am truly sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let myself get caught up in my lifestyle. That’s MY fault. I own it. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise I will continue to do better.”

D’Elia has previously made three Netflix comedy specials, including this year’s Chris D’Elia: No Pain, and featured in the Netflix thriller You during its second season.

Last year, D’Elia spoke about meeting Eminem after his impersonations of the rapper achieved huge popularity online.

Eminem Reveals His Picks For Rap GOAT

Eminem hits Twitter with a list of rappers that he would consider the greatest of all time.

Eminem has been oddly more interactive with the world in recent times. Perhaps it's the need for change or management demanding that he hop on TikTok but either way, he's giving fans a bit more insight into his otherwise private life.

At the wee hours of the morning, the rapper seemingly stumbled upon a video from No Life Shaq where the YouTuber DM'd several rappers requesting their pick for the greatest rapper of all time. Among the rappers that he DM'd is 6ix9ine, Travis Scott, Lil Wayne, and more, as well as Eminem. No Life Shaq admitted that he didn't expect Eminem to respond, though he said that was the only rapper he was eager to hear a response from.

"I had to try with Em. I had to try with Em. Of course, Em not gonna respond," he said. "That one kinda hurt my heart a lil bit because I wanted Em to say himself."

Though he never got a response on Instagram, Eminem did issue a response on Twitter with a list of rappers he'd consider GOATs but suffice to say the inclusion of Redman twice probably confirms that his position on the Def Squad member hasn't changed.

"For me, in no particular order... Toss up between wayne, pac, royce, jay, redman, treach, g. rap, biggie & king crook....," he wrote in one tweet. "Plus redman, LL, nas, joyner, kendrick, cole, andre, rakim, kane..."

RJ Payne Addresses Eminem’s Praise & Those Who Say His Co-Sign Doesn’t Mean Anything

During Eminem's chat with Lil Wayne last month, he shouted out RJ Panye as an under the radar rapper who's killing it.  Wayne agreed that Payne was one to watch.

Payne acknowledged The GOATs co-sign during a discussion with Mikey T The Movie Star of Report Card Radio. After he did, he pushed back on those who don't think getting that kind of shout out from Eminem was a big deal.

"I don’t know if it’s a new generation or if it’s just the way the world is that we don’t value sh*t or we don’t value anything until it’s not here no more, but I know who Eminem is and I know all the records he broke. So for him to acknowledge me on my level, just the punchlines and hardcore rap – I give him all respect in the world because he didn’t have to be paying attention to RJ Payne," Payne said.

He added that the co-signs from Eminem and Lil Wayne just made him more hungry.

"The day that the footage came out I shot a video 24 hours later and put that sh*t out. Eminem had seen the video, I got the confirmation he’d seen the video. I just want to work harder. I was already a workhorse, I put out seven projects per year before Marshall came along. So now when I know he’s watching or Wayne’s watching, man, I’ll probably put out more projects than anybody in the rap game. I’m hungry as hell. I should be writing and rapping right now, I only stopped putting together my merch and working on my album to do it with you. If you’ve seen my freestyle, if you’ve seen what I just put out Animal, kind of just summing up who I am for the people who might not know who I was before Eminem gave me the shout out, that’s what you can expect. Expect the highest quality lyrics, the dopest production possible. Don’t expect no deep records, don’t expect none of that because right now I want people to know Eminem wasn’t wrong. I want people to know that Lil Wayne is listening because it is some dope sh*t and it’s not what everybody else is doing. Don’t expect to tune in and hear RJ Payne doing a trap record or none of that. Expect what I’ve been doing but just times 30."

Eminem’s "Music To Be Murdered By" Hits One Billion Spotify Streams

Eminem's "Music To Be Murdered By" continues to rack up streams, pushing past one billion on Spotify.

Before 2020 took a plummeting nosedive into chaos and tragedy, it seemed to be kicking off on a high note -- at least within the rap game, as Eminem came through with the surprise album Music To Be Murdered By. Viewed by many as a triumphant victory lap for the legendary emcee, Em's Hitchcock-inspired project proved doubly exciting thanks to a musical reunion with his longtime friend and mentor Dr. Dre. Boasting tracks like "Darkness," "Godzilla," "Marsh," and the Anderson .Paak assisted "Lock It Up," Em's tenth studio album provided something for everybody.

It's no wonder the album has gone on to become a fan-favorite, and while Em has always been a commercial juggernaut, it's insane to see the numbers he's still running after twenty-years deep. According to the findings of Chartdata, Music To Be Murdered By has officially surpassed over a billion streams on Spotify. Given that's only one of the digital streaming platforms, the statistics are all the more impressive; expect platinum plaque certifications to follow, further decoration for Em's already stacked wall.

Given that the current cultural climate is rightfully somber, it's difficult to imagine that Em will be releasing any further singles from Music To Be Murdered By anytime soon. Still, many fans have been circling back to a Revival track, "Untouchable," which covers themes of police brutality and systemic racism. Clearly, the people still hold Em's word in high regard, to the point where he remains one of hip-hop's biggest draws. Have you been keeping his latest album on steady rotation?

Eminem Joins Black Out Day & Shuts Down Shady Records

Eminem is closing Shady Records for Black Out Tuesday, announcing ways people can help out themselves.

The music industry is standing in solidarity with the rest of the world, shutting down for one day as part of a Black Out initiative to help prevent social injustice and racial inequality. With protests taking place across the world, this is the music industry’s way of contributing to mass efforts against racism in America.

Black Out Tuesday is taking place tomorrow, June 2, 2020, and Eminem has officially announced that Shady Records will take a stand against social issues in America by participating.

“Shady Records will join in the observance of Black Out Tuesday on June 2, 2020,” wrote Em on Instagram. “On this day we will dedicate our time and efforts to help prevent social injustice and explore ways to assist in the fight against racial inequality.”

“Join us in fighting for change,” added the rapper in his caption.

Big ups to Eminem for sticking with his community and doing what’s right on Black Out Tuesday.

Eminem Calls On Detroit To Rally Against COVID-19

During a recent event highlighting Detroit's upcoming census, Eminem offered a few inspirational words in the face of COVID-19.

The fight against COVID-19 isn't over. In fact, the virus has continued to run rampant throughout North America, with many states and provinces gradually relaxing their previously imposed restrictions. And while protests have been ongoing throughout both the United States and Canada, a passionate fight against systemic racism and police brutality, the lingering threat of COVID-19 should not be forgotten.

Over the weekend, Eminem took it upon himself to remind his fellow Detroit residents that while Coronavirus may be a daunting foe, it can be conquered. To further inspire his fellow citizens, he made sure to call upon the Detroit state of mind during a guest appearance at the digital "Everybody vs. COVID-19" event, as organized by the city of Detroit. The aim of the event was to raise awareness about the upcoming census, as Em made sure to explain.

"Detroit isn't just a city, it's also a feeling. A hustle. A state of mind," says Em, in a pre-recorded message. "Detroit is a city where we fight for what we believe in. We don't take shit lying down. And COVID-19 is no different. We got some work to do in order to stay safe. But one way is that we have to be counted. And the CENSUS is your way to do just that. So this month, we gotta bring the city together man."

Twista Finally Took The Eminem Godzilla Speed Rap Challenge

Back when Eminem set a new Guinness world record for fastest rap with his Music To By Murdered By cut 'Godzilla', everyone was wondering "What about Twista?"

We thought we were going to get that answer three months ago when Twista accepted Shady's 'Godzilla' challenge.  But it turned out the challenge was only for amateurs and was for lip-synching, not spitting.

Nevertheless, three months later, Twista has gone full speed with his own verse over the "Godzilla" beat.

Who did it better, Twista or Em?

Eminem Shouts Out Killer Mike’s Protest Speech: "Incredibly Well Done"

Eminem gives out shout out to Killer Mike during the nation-wide protests in the wake of George Floyd's death.

Eminem showed love to Killer Mike on Twitter, Saturday, tweeting out his speech at the Atlanta mayor’s press conference on Friday night, praising Killer Mike's work.

"I’m with @killermike on this one. Incredibly well done," Eminem wrote.

In the video, Killer Mike joins T.I., Dr. Bernice King and Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms to encourage rioters to stop destroying their home-city.

“I got a lot of love and respect for police officers down to the original eight police officers in Atlanta that even after becoming police, had to dress in a YMCA because white officers didn’t want to get dressed with n*ggers,” he said. “Here we are 80 years later, I watched a white officer assassinate a black man and I know that tore your heart out. I have nothing positive to say in this moment, because I don’t want to be here.

“I am duty-bound to be here to simply say it is your duty not to burn your own house down for anger with an enemy. It is your duty to fortify your own house, so that you may be a house of refuge in times of organization. And now is the time to plot, plan, strategize, organize and mobilize.”

Tech N9NE Addresses Fat Joe Saying Eminem Can’t be Touched In Verzuz

Last week, Fat Joe said that DMX wouldn't stand a chance against Eminem in a Verzuz battle and suggested nobody would, because of Shady's fervent fanbase.

"There's something about that white boy, and his fans.  Nah bro.  That n*gga's David  Koresh.  That n*gga different," Fat Joe explains.  "Eminem was hot when we came out. His fans from day one when he was making "Stan" and all of that are 40, 45 years old.  These white people they teach their kids who are ten years old that Eminem is the greatest.  You go to the airport ten years are playing his hits ... they keep teaching their kids that he's the man."

Tech N9NE, who a serious music head, was asked about that.  He agreed that DMX isn't a good matchup for Em.  But he didn't agree that Shady can't be touched. [Jump to 3 minutes]

"Who could battle Eminem," Tech wondered. "Because Eminem can go from the to the mid-90s all the way up to now with "Godzilla".  All the Rihanna songs.  All the Ed Sheeran songs.  The song with Trick Trick ... He can go forever. He can go to D12.  He can use his different personalities, like Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers, Eminem, whatever. He can go on forever.  Somebody else that can go on forever ... JAY-Z.  So Eminem and JAY-Z. JAY-Z's gonna knock him out with the clubbers [like "Dirt Off Your Shoulders.]  JAY-Z and Eminem would be a good one.  It's gonna be different.  You know the thing with Nelly and Ludacris when Ludacris had the club bangers and Nelly had the going-diamond music. That's kind of how it would maybe be with Eminem and JAY-Z because they both got mega-hits," Tech explained.

As for DMX, Tech has all the respect in the world for the Dark Man.  He just doesn't think he did it long enough

"DMX, got a lot of them.  But when you get up to now though.  To go against Eminem you got to sustain from then to now," TECH explained.

Twista Finally Takes On Eminem’s Now-Wrapped #GodzillaChallenge

Twista submitted a very belated—although very impressive nonetheless—effort to Eminem's now-finished #GodzillaChallenge months after initially accepting it.

Nearly three months after accepting Eminem's #GodzillaChallenge, Twista has finally tried his hand at it—and, to say the least, he succeeded. Back in March, while Em's challenge was in still in full swing, Twista declared that he would indeed be participating. Although the contest, which challenged participants to attempt to spit Em's rapidfire verse on the Music To Be Murdered By track, was technically only open to amateurs, several pros like Bizzy Bone and Biz Markie decided to give it a shot. Considering Twista has one of the most high-speed flows of all time, having once held the title for fastest rapper ever in the Guinness Book Of World Records, it seemed like a no-brainer that he too would answer the call—and annihilate the verse.

Unfortunately, Twista never shared his attempt, and later that month, Em crowned a winner of the #GodzillaChallenge. However, it looks like Twista didn't forget about his promise to show off his chops, and on Friday (May 29th), he finally took on the #GodzillaChallenge. "I feel like rapping fast today #GodzillaChallenge," he tweeted. "I’m going to do this #GodzillaChallenge in under a min and put it right out."

Twista proceeded to post a clip of him spitting his own original verse over the "Godzilla" track. "Wheeew kinda slowed it up so y’all can hear what I’m sayin," he wrote on the video.

Mike Dean Trolls, Says Kanye’s Albums Are Better Than Eminem’s

Mike Dean chimed in and trolled that, if Kanye West and Eminem's discographies were combined, all of Kanye's first five albums would be at the top of the list.

Even though Mike Dean admitted that he was trolling -- after all, he's had a hand in the creation of all of Kanye West's albums -- this is a discussion that could possibly be pretty interesting.

Somebody proposed a situation on Twitter: if Eminem and Kanye West's discographies were combined, which albums would be at the top? Producer Mike Dean replied and said that every Ye album from College Dropout to My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy would sit strongly as the best of the best.

A Kanye stan responded and said that Yeezus and The Life of Pablo should be included on that list, to which Dean admitted that he was just trolling, correcting himself and saying that all of West's albums are better than Eminem's.

Although he is joking, this proposes an interesting equation. Both artists have become legends in their own right and, while they may not be entirely comparable, their discographies are damn-near perfect with the occasional flaw. There have been some mishaps in both of their careers but, for the most part, Em and Ye have influenced almost every rapper in the game. If you had to rank Eminem and Kanye West's albums as a combined force, where would you place their classics?

Eminem Releases His Old Music Videos In High Definition

Eminem updates his old music videos, like “Stan,” “The Real Slim Shady,” and more, in high definition.

Just like how Disney releases remastered versions of their classic films in better quality every now and again, Eminem came through with an update to some of his old music videos.

The legendary rapper has been busy this week, sitting down for a chat-room experience with fans to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the release of his album The Marshall Mathers LP. Since its arrival, visual technology has changed a lot. Thankfully, there are ways to restore old videos and movies to make them easier to watch in 2020. Em utilized those techniques to drop some freshly-updated versions of some of his best videos ever.

“MMLP music videos newly remastered in HD on the site,” wrote the rapper on social media, re-directing people to his website where you can view a number of the updated clips. Among the remastered videos are “Stan,” “The Real Slim Shady,” and “The Way I Am.”

Finally, we can view old Eminem videos in 1080p quality.

What else do you think Slim Shady has in store for us this week? He’s been dropping off plenty of surprises, including new merch, a question-and-answer period chat-room, and now this. Does he have anything else planned? We’ll have to wait and see.

Enjoy!

KXNG Crooked was overjoyed after Eminem named him as the most underrated rapper in the game.

Real really does recognize real. On Wednesday (May 27th), Eminem had some very kind words to say about his longtime friend and former Shady Records artist, KXNG Crooked. To celebrate the 20th anniversary of The Marshall Mathers LP, Em conducted a listening party of the hip hop masterpiece as well as a live stream chat with fans, where he answered questions and talked music. At one point, he was asked which rapper he thought was the most underrated, to which he responded, “KXNG Crooked.”

Crooked, who was formerly signed to Em’s label for a period of time as a member of Slaughterhouse, was thrilled to hear about Em’s gracious co-sign. “That means a lot coming from a Jedi man,” he told HipHopDX. “I’m grateful for his willingness to speak positive things about me in public because he doesn’t have to. I guess sometimes it takes a master to recognize another one. Thanks for showing me because I know to thank him now.”

Crooked went on to post screenshots of the articles on Instagram, writing “Thanks Marshall” in the caption.

Most recently, Em and Crooked collaborated on the track, “I Will,” off the former’s latest album, Music To Be Murdered By. The track also included verses from Crooked’s former fellow Slaughterhouse members, Joell Ortiz and Royce Da 5’9.

Eminem Reveals New "Stan" Merch

Eminem is selling an exclusive new hoodie for the “Marshall Mathers LP” anniversary.

The Marshall Mathers LP, the third studio album from legendary rapper Eminem, was released twenty years ago this week and, to celebrate, the Detroit star dropped his phone number for fans to interact with him. In addition to that, he’s also rolling out a brand new merch offering, including a hoodie that commemorates the 20-year release of “Stan.”

Nowadays, the term has been adopted by super-fans of recording artists but, originally, Stan was just the name of one of Eminem’s most devoted supporters. He did everything to be like the rapper, writing him letters, dyeing his hair blonde, and lining the walls of his room with photos of Marshall. The song is one of his most popular joints ever and, today, he’s unveiling some new apparel for his very own stans.

“I’m in the live chat for #MMLP20 tomorrow at 3 PM ET and we’re droppin this hoodie for the Stans,” wrote Slim Shady on the ‘gram. “Text my number to get first access and an update on the live chat 313-666-7440.”

The black hoodie has large contrasting lettering going across the torso and spelling out “STAN”, with the words “Sincerely Yours” and an anniversary celebration just above the pocket. On the sleeve, there is a small red block of lyrics.

Are you planning on copping this?

Eminem Invites Stans To Text Him

Ahead of the “Marshall Mathers LP” listening session, Eminem invites fans and Stans alike to hit his line with messages.

And to think, the titular Stan once thought to call EminemMr. I’m-Too-Good-to-Call-Or-Write-My-Fans.” How the tables have turned, as Eminem has recently launched a new campaign to directly interact with his listeners. Today, Em has doubled down on the initiative, taking to Instagram to once again invite fans to reach out and message him at the number “313-666-7440,” which can be done right here

“Dear Stan, I meant to write you sooner, but I just been busy,” he writes, alluding to the classic track that went on to spark a “Stan” movement. “Text me, ill hit you back.” For those unaware, Em actually kicked this movement off in honor of the Marshall Mathers LP’s 20th anniversary, which transpired on May 23rd. That’s not the only fan interaction he’s got planned; this Wednesday, he’ll also be attending an online listening session for the Marshal Mathers LP, where he’ll be engaging in a Q&A with those in attendance.

Given that Em is one of the biggest artists in the world, it’s hard to imagine he’ll be able to directly correspond to every message. Yet you won’t know until you try, so channel your inner Stan and get to jotting. Are you planning on firing off some thoughts to Slim Shady?

Tory Lanez Channels Eminem’s "My Salsa" In New Snippet

Tory Lanez channels Eminem circa-2004 for a goofy and outlandish take on “My Salsa.”

For whatever reason, it’s seeming like the game is finally ready to openly give Eminem his flowers — that’s not to say rappers haven’t sung his praises before, but it feels as if Music To Be Murdered By really left a lasting impression on the game. Not only did Drake implement elements of “Superman” into his recent “Chicago Freestyle,” but not Tory Lanez appears to be drawing from the box of Em classics for his latest snippet.

Taking to both Instagram and TikTok to have some fun, Tory showcases a new “track” he’s been working on. A track that appears to be built around the climactic moments of D12’s “My Band,” otherwise known as “My Salsa.” In the clip, Tory channels Eminem’s amusing and bewildering foray into mariachi territory, adding his own signature spin on it in the process; needless to say, this isn’t what we had in mind when he teased a “Spanish Album.”

After many fans were quick to react in confusion, Tory was forced to clarify the situation. “Real ones know this is from EM,” he comments, his facepalm emoji suggesting his frustration with the lack of early millennium hip-hop knowledge. Of all the Eminem songs to see repurposed, who’d have thought “My Band” would land the special treatment? Either way, it’s cool to see Tory pay homage to one of the greatest to ever do it — perhaps one day they’ll collaborate on an actual track. After all, it’s clear that Em’s pal Joyner Lucas has a few things to say about the Canadian lyricist.

Fat Joe Doesn’t Think Anyone Go Against Eminem On "Verzuz"

Fat Joe gave his argument why Eminem is a different breed of rapper, adding that he can’t think of anyone that could go up against the Detroit emcee in a “Verzuz” battle.

We may not know who DMX will go up against in a Verzuz battle, but the rapper certainly is ready for his moment to shine. The beloved rap icon has been vying for his spot on the increasingly popular Instagram Live series, and there has been much conversation about who will share a split-screen with the New York emcee. We know that DMX wants to take on Jay-Z, but there were rumors that Eminem was a contender after N.O.R.E. teased that a battle with the Detroit legend may have been in the making. However, Fat Joe doesn’t think that Eminem can be touched, and he told Noreaga just that on a recent episode of Drink Champs.

“I don’t know who wanna battle Eminem,” Fat Joe said flatly. “I don’t think nobody can f*ck with Eminem. Nobody.” N.O.R.E. said that he believed DMX and Eminem “have the same crowd,” but Fat Joe still wasn’t swayed. “DMX got the biggest hits in the world, one of the greatest rappers of all time. Legendary, iconic, superhero, and everything I’m saying is understating him, he’s bigger than that,” Joe stated. “But there’s something about that white boy and his fans. Nah, bro. You want to see something cracking the internet? That n*gga David Koresh, n*gga. That n*gga different, bro!”

“Eminem was hot when we came out,” Fat Joe continued, adding that some of his fans are in their mid-forties as they’ve followed Eminem’s career from the beginning. “These white people teach their kids that are 10-years-old that Eminem’s the greatest. You go to the airports and 10-year-olds are playing his sh*t like 45-year-olds. Like it just came out right now. There’s a big difference with his boy….When you say generational wealth, they keep teaching their kids that he’s the man to the ultimate science.” Watch them debate Eminem’s reign a little after the 20-minute mark below.

DMX Claims "Eminem Don’t Want It" With Him

DMX remains wholly confident in his ability to dismantle GOAT tier emcees like Eminem and Jay-Z.

Anyone who enjoys the competitive element of hip-hop, and let’s be honest that’s a large percentage, can appreciate a little bit of trash-talk now and again. And with Swizz Beatz and Timbaland‘s recently launched Verzuz series, the topic of hit-for-hit battles has raised many interesting debates. By now, you might have heard tell of a potential match-up between Eminem and DMX, with the former allegedly ready and willing to take up the challenge. At least, that’s what NORE seemed to suggest a while back, when he first unearthed the revelation.

For one reason or another, DMX didn’t seem entirely enthused with the prospect of going toe to toe with Slim Shady. In fact, he appears to have his sights set on another foe — his self-described “arch-nemesis” Jay-Z. Footage of a call between Swizzy and X reveal’s the legendary rapper’s position on the potential battle, and to call him confident would be an understatement — a fair position, given that DMX has quite an iconic repertoire of hits under his belt.

“What about Em? Em don’t want it,” laughs X. “Em don’t want it. I’d rather go for, you know, my arch-nemesis [Jay-Z]. He don’t gotta come outside, n***a, it’s in the house! You saying he don’t want to face me and play some records?” Swizz can be heard remarking that it’s a celebration, furthering X’s logic. “We celebrating music, and he got some hits too. He can play ‘Money Cash Hoes,’ I can play ‘Money Cash Hoes.’ Make it happen.”

Would you agree with DMX’s position that he could score a decisive victory over Eminem? Or would he be better matched against Jay-Z? Either way, it’s fun to see rappers of this pedigree get caught up in the competitive spirit once again. Check it out for yourself below.

Eminem Once Gave Fat Joe 30 Takes Of "Lean Back Remix"

Fat Joe marvels at the extent of Eminem’s perfectionist nature, a quality that makes him virtually unbeatable in the battle format.

There’s a simple charm in hearing Fat Joe reflect on hip-hop culture, as the Terror Squad emcee’s love for the craft is as wholesome as they come. Most recently, Joe has opened up and shared a few stories about his experience navigating the game, and he recently connected with the Drink Champs crew to reflect on the possibility of an Eminem Vezuz battle — as well as his predicted outcome.

“I don’t know who want to battle Eminem,” warns Joe, after EFN suggests Busta Rhymes would be a worthy opponent. “I don’t think nobody can fuck with Eminem.” When NORE counters with DMX, who was recently offered that exact battle by Swizz Beatz, Joe doubles down. “DMX got the biggest hits in the world, one of the greatest rappers of all time. Legendary, iconic, superhero. And everything I’m saying is understating, he’s bigger than that. But there’s something about that white boy and his fans — nah bro, you want to see something cracking the internet? That n***a David Koresh, that n***a different!”

“Eminem was hot when we came out,” continues Joe. “His fans from day one are forty, forty-five years old. These white people teach their kids that Eminem is the greatest. You go to the airports and ten-year-olds are playing his shit…There’s a big difference with his boy. When you say generational wealth, they keep teaching their kids that he’s the man to the ultimate science.”

He also takes a moment to marvel at Em’s work ethic, which he experienced first hand. “Eminem’s the only guy that sent me the ‘Lean Back’ remix, he sent me that same verse thirty times. Saying it with a different tone, a lighter tone. He wouldn’t make up his mind — thirty different takes and verses! The same verse! Different flows, different highs, lows. I don’t know what to tell you, this guy is such a perfectionist!”

Ludacris Invites Eminem To Collaborate

While Ludacris has worked with many of the game's biggest legends, he still has some unfinished business with Eminem.

Ludacris has been widely regarded as one of the game's most inventive lyricists, arguably underrated in the grand scheme of things. Throughout his storied career, Luda has worked with no shortage of legendary emcees, from Nas to Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes to Twista. Yet despite sharing a clever mind for references and elite tier wit, Ludacris and Eminem have never joined forces on wax -- at least, not yet.

In the days following his recent Verzuz battle with Nelly, which served as a welcome reminder of his legacy thus far, Ludacris opened the floor to take fan questions -- including one about bucket list collaborations. "I did collaborate with Notorious B.I.G. but it was a posthumous album so I wasn't able to actually collaborate with him while we was alive," reflects Luda. "2Pac, I'd love to collaborate with, but if we saying alive? I haven't done a track with Eminem yet, and that's on my list. The world needs a Ludacris and Eminem record for sure."

Given that Em has been open about his respect for fellow lyrical greats -- not to mention having made reference to his Ludacris listening habits on "So Far" -- it wouldn't be surprising to see this one manifest in the near future. And if it were to happen, what kind of track would you like to see these two concoct? One thing is for sure, there would be punchlines in abundance.
