Social media influencers Andrew and Tristan Tate have been arrested in Miami after British authorities issued 38 new charges against the pair over the weekend. The brothers were taken into custody on Saturday (July 18) following an extradition request from the United Kingdom.

A news release from the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) detailed that Andrew Tate has been charged with seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and 19 additional charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography. Tristan Tate faces additional charges including one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. These allegations stem from events reportedly occurring between July 2010 and August 2017.

Legal Proceedings and Official Statements

Malcolm McHaffie, head of the CPS’s Special Crime Division, stated: “We have decided to prosecute Andrew and Tristan Tate for further offences including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation and offences relating to indecent images of a child.” He added that these decisions followed a new file of evidence from Bedfordshire police, bringing the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven.

Bedfordshire police confirmed that the total number of charges against the brothers has now reached 59, with 42 against Andrew and 17 against Tristan. Assistant Chief Constable Karena Thomas noted that the force is working in close coordination with international law enforcement agencies on the “complex investigation.”

The brothers have consistently denied any wrongdoing. Their legal representative, Joseph McBride, characterized the new charges as a “political hit” and claimed they were designed to counter a defamation action the brothers had filed in the United States. “We are confident that once a competent judge sees the facts, and once the Department of Justice confronts this egregious abuse of its own authority, Andrew and Tristan Tate will walk free,” McBride said in a statement.

This development follows a separate ongoing case in which the Tate brothers were previously charged with 21 criminal offenses, including rape and human trafficking. The brothers, known for their controversial online presence, were first arrested in December 2022 in Romania.
