The legendary singer-songwriter Bob Dylan recently held a private audience with Pope Leo XIV at the Apostolic Palace. The meeting took place on November 4, 2026, marking a notable encounter between the iconic musician and the pontiff. During the visit, Dylan—who opted for a casual black hoodie—presented the Pope with a copy of his autobiography, Chronicles: Volume One. In return, the Pope gifted the artist a rosary.
Official reports from the Vatican described the interaction as a brief, cordial exchange. Photographs shared on social media captured the two figures shaking hands, with the Pope offering a warm smile while Dylan appeared deeply focused. This visit occurred just before Dylan’s scheduled performance at the Palazzo dello Sport in Rome, a stop on his ongoing 'Rough And Rowdy Ways' tour.
Pope Leo XIV has previously demonstrated an appreciation for the songwriter's work, having cited lyrics from the unreleased track 'Go Away You Bomb' in the preface to his book, Disarmed And Disarming: Peace Is A Gift.

This audience follows a similar meeting earlier this summer, when Patti Smith spent forty minutes in a private audience with the Pope. Reverend Antonio Spadaro, who accompanied Smith, noted that the meeting sparked a profound connection between the two, describing them as figures who offer hope to a fractured world.
Following his Italian dates, Dylan is preparing for a series of UK performances beginning November 25 in Bournemouth. The tour itinerary includes several nights at London's Royal Festival Hall in early December. Fans are also anticipating the release of a massive 39-CD box set, The Rolling Thunder Revue: The 1976 Live Recordings, which is set to arrive on November 6.
