New drug warning over ‘Ninja Turtle’ and ‘Teddy Bear’ pills after Secret Garden Party

A new warning has been issued by harm reduction specialists The Loop after pills tested at Secret Garden Party were found to contain more than double the amount of MDMA. There was also a ‘Soundcloud’ imitation pill that had varying strengths, and the group suggested to users to not take any more if they don’t feel its effects. Joni Mitchell surprised the crowd at Newport Folk Festival over the weekend when she joined Brandi Carlile on stage for two songs. Bob Rafelson, co-creator of ‘The Monkees’, dies aged 89

Writer, director and producer Bob Rafelson has died at the age of 89. Rafelson passed away of natural causes last night (July 23) at his home in Aspen, Colorado, per The Hollywood Reporter. Along with his late partner Bert Schneider, Rafelson co-created the classic NBC sitcom The Monkees, which premiered in 1966. The pair had been inspired by The Beatles‘ 1964 film A Hard Day’s Night, and they decided to develop a TV series about a fictional band. Rafelson served as a producer and later executive producer on the show, and also directed several episodes. The Monkees ran for two seasons (58 episodes in total) until 1968. In 1967, the show won the Emmy for Oustanding Comedy Series. After the series wrapped, Rafelson brought The Monkees to the big screen with 1968’s Head, which he wrote and produced alongside Jack Nicholson. Rafelson also directed the movie. Born in New York City in 1933, Rafelson worked with Jack Nicholson on seven titles overall, including Easy Rider (1969), Five Easy Pieces (1970) and The King Of Marvin Gardens (1972). An upcoming horror movie that 50 Cent stars in is so scary that it caused a cameraman to pass out while shooting, according to its director. The film, called Saw House, has previously been compared to Saw and will explore the drawbacks of social media and influencer culture. Brexit: Bookings of UK acts at European festivals have fallen by 45 per cent

The number of British acts appearing on the bill at European festivals has fallen by almost half post-Brexit, according to new research. Campaign group Best For Britain – which is “pushing for closer relationships with Europe and the world” – shared the figures today (July 21). They showed that the number of British artists scheduled to perform in Europe as part of this year’s festival season had decreased by 45 per cent when compared to 2017-2019 (pre-Brexit). Late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton honoured with his own craft beer

Late Metallica bassist Cliff Burton is being honoured with a new craft beer called ‘Cliff ‘Em All IPA’. The musician died in a tour bus crash in Sweden in 1986. He was 24 years old. Live Nation claim “no liability” in Drakeo The Ruler stabbing

Live Nation has claimed “no liability” in the death of Drakeo The Ruler at Once Upon A Time in LA last year. Drakeo was fatally stabbed during an altercation backstage at the festival, which took place at the Banc of California and Exposition Park on December 18. Drakeo’s family including his brother, mother and son have all filed lawsuits against Live Nation, who put on the festival, on Drakeo’s behalf. The family are seeking $20million (£15million) in damages.
