Kaley Cuoco has revealed that she would “100 per cent” sign herself on for a reboot of the hit comedy series The Big Bang Theory if it ever comes to fruition.
Cuoco, who starred in the beloved comedy series as Penny throughout its entire 12-season run between 2007 and 2019, recently spoke to PEOPLE Magazine about her career and future, where she took time to reflect on The Big Bang Theory and the impact it’s had on her career.
Looking back on her time as Penny, Cuoco said: “I spent 12 years playing that role, and it really set off my career. I owe a lot to that character, to that show, to [creator] Chuck Lorre.” She also described the 12 years as “some of the best years of my life, and some of the most fun I’ve ever had.”
When asked if she would ever be open to reprising her character of Penny, Cuoco admitted: “I would absolutely reprise that role. 100 per cent. I love that character, and I always will.”
In 2017, two years before the final season of The Big Bang Theory aired, a spin-off series focusing on the adventures of a young Sheldon Cooper began airing, titled Young Sheldon. While Cuoco never appeared on the spin-off, she voiced a talking swimming pool in season three.
Since getting her big break on The Big Bang Theory, Kaley Cuoco has gone on to star in series such as The Flight Attendant and Based On A True Story, voiced Harley Quinn in the animated series of the same name, and has starred in films such as The Wedding Ringer with Kevin Hart and Meet Cute with Pete Davidson.
Earlier this year, CBS greenlit a Young Sheldon spin-off series focused on Sheldon’s older brother Georgie Cooper (Montana Jordan) and his wife Mandy McAllister (Emily Osment) as they become young parents.
The series, titled Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, just premiered its first episode in the United States on October 17. A UK premiere date has yet to be announced.
