Many from all walks of life are coming to join the Black Lives Matter cause and urging for change both locally and nationally. Today Alexis Ohanian Sr., who is the co-founder of the immensely popular forum site , has offered his resignation as a form of solidarity with the movement.

Ohanian, for those unaware, is married to tennis player Serena Williams, and the two have a young daughter together. Ohanian remembers his daughter in a video speaking on his resignation: “Fifteen years ago I co-founded to find community and a sense of belonging, it’s long overdue to do the right thing. I’m saying this as a father who needs to be able to answer his black daughter when she asks: ‘What did you do?'”

He continued, “So, I’ve resigned as a member of the board, I have urged them to fill my seat with a black candidate. And I will use future gains on my stock to serve the Black community, chiefly, to curb racial hate. And I’m starting with a pledge of $1 million to Colin Kaepernick‘s Know Your Rights camp.”

He ended: “I believe resignation can actually be an act of leadership from people in power right now. To everyone fighting to fix our broken nation: do not stop.”
