Jamie Foxx has responded to the backlash that Jimmy Fallon has been facing after an Saturday Night Live sketch in which Jimmy does blackface recently resurfaced. Back in 2000, when the late night host was still a regular on the sketch comedy show, Jimmy did an impression of former cast member, Chris Rock, for which he painted his skin brown.
The sketch has received criticism in the years since it aired, although it appears that it's made its way back into the public consciousness once again. This time, The Tonight Show decided it was time to acknowledge the backlash, issuing an apology for his "unquestionably offensive decision" to do blackface on the show.
However, not everyone agrees that the move was wrong, or could even be considered blackface. On Wednesday, Jamie Foxx commented on an Instagram post by E! News that had reported Jimmy's apology, coming to the defense of his fellow comedian. "He was doing an impression of chris rock," Jamie wrote. "It wasn’t black face. We comedians I know it’s a tough time right now. But this one is a stretch. On a show called in living color we played every race Let this one go. We got bigger fish to fry ... #changecourse."
Jimmy Fallon Issues Apology Over "Blackface" SNL Sketch From 20 Years Ago
Jimmy Fallon caught heat over a "Saturday Night Live" sketch from 2000 where he wears blackface as he impersonates Chris Rock.
Cancel Culture has had quite the week. After chopping down Lana Del Rey's tree following her open letter, Doja Cat began to trend over allegations that she was anti-black. Now, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has found himself in trouble with the public after a Saturday Night Live skit that he participated in back in 2000 went viral. In it, Jimmy Fallon wears blackface to impersonate fellow SNL alum Chris Rock.

Fallon didn't waste any time with issuing a formal apology on Twitter. "In 2000, while on SNL, I made a terrible decision to do an impersonation of Chris Rock while in blackface. There is no excuse for this," he wrote. "I am very sorry for making this unquestionably offensive decision and thank all of you for holding me accountable." The response to Fallon's apology has been overwhelmingly supportive as many people have stated that a 20-year-old comedy sketch shouldn't be used against the talk show host.
According to Deadline, the full skit was removed from NBC platforms immediately following the cancelation of Megyn Kelly Today after she was booted for her controversial remarks defending blackface Halloween costumes. A portion of Jimmy Fallon's SNL skit was reposted on YouTube last year, and for some reason picked up steam in the last few days on Twitter. Check it out below.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Praises Daughter For WWE Signing
Dwayne Johnson has a lot of fatherly pride when it comes to his daughter.
Dwayne Johnson is one of the most legendary wrestlers of all time and part of the reason for his sustained success has been his ability to change careers and maintain his relevancy. Johnson is one of the biggest movie stars in the world right now and for good reason. His movies rake in millions of dollars and his face is one of the most recognizable. Even if you never watched a wrestling match in your life, you probably know who “The Rock” is.
During an appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Johnson spoke about his daughter Simone who recently signed a contract with the WWE, at just 18 years old. As he explained, Simone has been working very hard at her craft and he truly couldn’t be prouder.
“She signed her contract with the WWE, it just blows my mind,” Johnson said. “First of all, I mean, what an honor that my daughter wants to follow in my footsteps. But, more importantly, ‘follow in my footsteps’ sounds cliché, but she actually wants to blaze her own path, which is just so important. She wound up being the youngest signee in the history of the company.”
Simone will have a lot of work to do to climb the ranks of the company but with her father cheering her on, we’re sure she will be just fine.
Will Smith, Kenan Thompson To Star In Humorous Father’s Day Documentary "Dads"
Will Smith, Kenan Thompson and a dozen other Hollywood fathers sit down for interviews about what it like being a dad in today’s society.
It’s only been two days since Mother’s Day and we’re already in full preparation to celebrate Dear Ol’ Dad. Father‘s Day lands on Sunday, June 21 this year, and while “Stay Home” ordinances should be lifted—if only by a bit—by that time, many dads will still be quarantined away from their children. According to reports, a number of celebrity papas star in Dads, an Apple TV+ documentary that will include quips, words of wisdom, and home footage from famous fathers.
Dads is produced by Nine Muses Entertainment, in association with Dove Men+Care, and highlights how fatherhood and the role of fathers has shifted over time. The film will feature heartfelt and funny interviews with the likes of Judd Apatow, Ron Howard, Jimmy Fallon, Neil Patrick Harris, Ron Howard, Reed Howard, Ken Jeong, Jimmy Kimmel, Hasan Minhaj, Conan O’Brien, Patton Oswalt, Will Smith, and Kenan Thompson.
While the documentary premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last year, this will be the first time it will be released to a wide audience. “A feature-length documentary exploring modern fatherhood. Bringing attention to the critical role fathers play and the importance of paternity leave, the film is an unfiltered and humorous look at being a dad,” Dove writes of the film. Dads will be available on June 19.
Ciara & Russell Wilson’s Jimmy Fallon Interview Gets Interrupted By Host’s Daughter
Ciara and Russell Wilson's interview with Jimmy Fallon got interrupted when the host's 6-year-old daughter, Winnie, had to tell her dad she'd lost a tooth.
Ciara and Russell Wilson were briefly overshadowed by Jimmy Fallon's daughter, Winnie, when the 6-year-old interrupted their at-home interview with the late night host to tell her dad she'd lost a tooth. With the coronavirus quarantine in full effect, talk show hosts have had to resort to conducting their interviews with celebrities over video chat. Jimmy Fallon is no exception, as the host of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has taken to broadcasting his show from home. While the major change of scenery and taping style has altered the atmosphere of the show to produce a much more intimate effect between Jimmy and his guests, it's been working out decently well, so far. However, one obstacle that a late night host with two young children is bound to face when attempting to film their show from home is that those little scoundrels could not care less if daddy is working.
View this post on InstagramDuring Fallon's interview with power couple Ciara and Russell Wilson on Tuesday night, Russell was in the middle of telling a story when the host's 6-year-old daughter, Winnie, rushed into the room to tell her dad she'd lost a tooth. A major milestone for his young daughter, Jimmy couldn't simply tell her to let him finish his interview, and instead asked her to repeat the exciting news for Russell and Ciara. The couple congratulated her on her amazing feat, and Winnie proceeded to explain that she'd lost it after someone tied a string around her tooth and pulled on it. Ciara then tells a story about how her son, Future, lost his first tooth after his sister bumped his chin and caused the loose tooth to pop out of his gums. Check out the full interview below:
Kim Kardashian Speaks On Kourtney Fight With Jimmy Fallon
Kim Kardashian West and Kourtney Kardashian got into a physical fight on the new episode of “Keeping Up With The Kardashians.”
Never before has a physical fight broken out between the Kardashian sisters on their reality show but, on the most recent episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, exactly that happened.
Tensions were rising among family members and, when Kourtney and Kim finally got fed up with each other, they decided to take matters into their own hands… literally.
The sisters were at odds, slapping and kicking each other as Khloe Kardashian and Kendall Jenner attempted to break up the scuffle.
Kim Kardashian West was a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s at-home version of his late-night show this week where they discussed what happened, explaining the aftermath and why things were so wild during the shoot.
Bryan Bedder/Getty Images“I feel like it’s been a lot of built-up resentment from Kourtney, or just feeling like she doesn’t really want to film anymore,” said Kim about the fight. “So, she’s not the type of person to make a decision and say, ‘Okay guys, I’m not gonna film,’ but she would come to work with an attitude everyday and kind of take it out on everyone from the crew to us, and she wouldn’t really make that decision. We would just keep on pushing her to figure out why she was so unhappy. [Fighting] isn’t really what we do. When my mom saw the clip, she cried.”
Kim goes on to explain that they shut down production for a week after the fight, noting that everybody needed the break. She and Kourtney are on good terms now and Kourtney has decided to take a break from filming.
Coronavirus Scare Leads To Empty Late Night Show Audiences
Talk show hosts across networks had an interesting night last night, as they were forced to tape their shows without the routine studio audiences, due to coronavirus concerns.
Late-night hosts such as Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert, and Desus & Mero had been preparing for the coronavirus panic to impact their studio-audiences, however, they were caught off-guard when their networks pushed them to record without studio audiences on Thursday night instead of Monday like originally planned. Still, the hosts were good sports, embracing the opportunity to keep their audiences safe.
Stephen Colbert conveniently had neurosurgeon and CNN correspondent, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, as a guest on his no-audience episode. Even without an audience present, Colbert knew the questions his audience would have wanted him to ask. Right off the bat, Colbert asked about the very “blurry” line between caution and panic. Gupta responded responsibly, “I think it feels different for different people and it changes,” he started. “It’s changed a lot over the last two months. I don’t think it should ever cross into panic because panic doesn’t serve any purposes, certainly from a medical standpoint”. Gupta also offered the comforting sentiment that a majority of people will likely be able to get through this pandemic without serious health effects.
Our favourite take comes from hosts of the #1 show in late-night – Desus & Mero, who weren’t nearly as emotionally supportive or informative as their peers, but still managed to keep things fun for their viewers at home. In front of their staff-exclusive audience, Desus & Mero discussed how it’s easier now than back in the day, to stay at home all day because of “in-app purchases”, among other things.
Stay safe everyone!
Tom Brady Appears To Facetime Titans Coach Mike Vrabel At Syracuse Game
Tom Brady and Julian Edelman trolled everyone throughout the Syracuse-UNC game, Saturday night.
Tom Brady, Julian Edelman and Jimmy Fallon all attended Saturday’s Syracuse-UNC game. At one point during the telecast, Edelman says “He’s coming back, he’s coming back," but Brady's response has fans worried, according to Boston.com.
Brady then shakes his head and says something that the microphones couldn't pick up, but many on Twitter have pointed out it seems like a "he's not."
Further, a video captured by a fan behind Brady appears to show him on FaceTime with Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel. "Brady to the titans confirmed ??," the fan writes.
Edelman continued to lobby for Brady's return to New England on Instagram after the game writing, "New England is a Tomocracy," with a picture of a shirt reading "Stay Tom 2020."
Mark Wahlberg recently weighed in on where he thinks Brady may end up after this offseason: “I think he has an idea of what he wants to do, and I want him to do whatever is best for him and his family,” Wahlberg said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “Like I said, he’s brought us so much joy. I’ve taken my son to games and spent time with him. I think it would be nice [if he stayed in New England], but again, if he wants to go elsewhere, I’ll root him on wherever he goes.”
Jimmy Fallon Recalls Kissing Michael Jordan On The Lips
Jimmy Fallon shares the details of his very awkward encounter with Michael Jordan during new episode of "Sneaker Shopping."
Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon recently linked up with Complex's Joe La Puma at Flight Club's New York City location for a brand new episode of "Sneaker Shopping," during which the comedian dished on his most memorable sneaker-related moments, Hasan Minhaj's influence on his sneaker game, and the time he kissed Michael Jordan on the lips.
Speaking on the latter, Fallon recalled how the incident took place at a charity golf outing years ago.
“I had a very awkward run-in with Michael Jordan. I was at a golf charity event with [Derek] Jeter, and so I was playing with those guys. … We were at some nightclub at the end of the night, and Derek’s like, ‘Hey Jimmy, do you know Michael?’ “
He continued, “And I go, ‘Yeah, I know you.’ And I went to say what’s up, and I went to give him a kiss on the cheek and he went to give me a kiss on this cheek and we both like kissed on the lips.”

Roddy Ricch & DJ Mustard Takeover Jimmy Fallon With "Ballin’" Performance
Roddy Ricch is the hottest in the game right now.
The past week has been huge for Roddy Ricch. The rapper's continued to maintain the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 with "The Box" for three consecutive weeks, and also took home his first Grammy for Best Rap Performance for "Racks In The Middle." To keep the momentum going, he made his way over to Jimmy Fallon the other night where he performed his hit single, "The Box." But just a few days later, he joined Mustard for a performance of the anthem of summer 2019.

Roddy Ricch and Mustard's "Ballin'" was undoubtedly one of the biggest hip-hop records last summer. As Mustard continues to promote Perfect Ten, he enlisted Roddy to return to the Jimmy Fallon stage where they performed "Ballin'." The producer and rapper performed in a similar set up to Roddy's earlier set on Fallon this week. Of course, the two Los Angeles natives made sure to pay homage to Kobe Bryant during their set. "Rest in peace to the legend, Kobe Bryant," Mustard said towards the end of the performance. Earlier this week, Roddy rocked a Kobe jersey for his performance of "The Box."
Roddy is currently having a crazy run. With the release of Please Don't Mind Me For Being Antisocial in December, the rapper's made major strides on the Billboard charts. This week, the rapper is expected to overthrow Eminem for the number one spot. There aren't many rappers who can do that, especially at this stage of their career. Roddy is bound to do some great things in the future. Peep their performance below.
