We’re far from Shimmy’s only longtime fans: Drake has been following the Florida rapper’s career just as long, and recently hit him up for a standout feature on HABIBTI.

Shimmy has been on a determined run since that spring guest appearance, from singles “Body Dangerous” and “Bag Rite” to a “Pretty Girlz Love Matcha” popup, all in support of his latest album Pretty Girlz Run The World, out today. The new record has standout features from Brent Faiyaz, Summer Walker, and Sexyy Red, but Loe spends most of the record blissfully solo.

Loe Shimmy is determined to make 2026 his biggest year yet. As he looks toward the horizon, the Florida rapper is focused on total dominance, aiming to capture the energy of every season with his upcoming project. When he stopped by The FADER offices in mid-June, he made his ambitions clear: “Summertime coming up, it's time to take that over. We want to take over the fall, winter, summer, all that.”

Following a standout appearance on Drake’s Habibti, Shimmy maintained his momentum with the release of “Body Dangerous.” The track serves as the first offering from his highly anticipated album, Pretty Girlz Run The World. While he describes the project as being more oriented toward his female fanbase, he assures listeners that the record remains packed with the hard-hitting, club-ready anthems that defined his earlier work. His creative process, once defined by sheer volume, has shifted toward a more intentional approach, focusing on intricate song structures and exploring new sonic pockets.

The album’s title was born from a spontaneous moment in the studio last fall. “I had said it in a song before that, and I was telling my boys in the studio, I was telling the engineer, ‘bruh, the tape should be called Pretty Girlz Run The World.’ Dedicate this one to the girls,” Shimmy explains. This theme became the guiding light for his recent recording sessions, particularly those held in Miami, where he challenged himself to collaborate with new producers and experiment with different vibes.

Evolution is at the heart of this project. Compared to Rockstar Junkie, Shimmy notes that the sound is smoother and more melodic. “Different beats got me flowing different. Unlocking new flows,” he says. This dedication to craft extends to his rigorous editing process, where he treats his songs like paintings, constantly refining structures to take them from a seven to a ten. “I got an ear for it for real, and if you keep listening, you'll see the errors. It’s just the ear, you gotta have that ear for this shit and you gotta love it.”

Beyond the music, Shimmy maintains a specific set of studio essentials to keep his creative energy high. From 1942 for the guests to a steady supply of Skittles and hot tea, he curates a comfort zone that allows him to create without distraction. The summer heat is officially rising as Florida-based rapper and vocalist Loe Shimmy prepares to hit the road. Following a standout appearance on Drake’s HABIBTI and the anticipation surrounding his ninth studio album, Pretty Girlz Run The World, the artist has officially announced a massive North American tour of the same name.

Since emerging on SoundCloud just six years ago, Loe Shimmy has cultivated a prolific catalog, releasing eight groove-laced studio albums and amassing over 8 million monthly listeners on Spotify. How Loe Shimmy Landed a Standout Feature on Drake’s ‘Habibti’

When speaking with Pompano Beach MC Loe Shimmy on a Thursday afternoon, it is clear that the artist is not resting on his laurels. Despite having just appeared on Drake’s latest album, HABIBTI, Shimmy is already back in the studio in Miami, focused on maintaining his momentum. With a new single, “Body Dangerous,” arriving at midnight and an upcoming album, Pretty Girls Run The World, on the horizon, he is wasting no time.

Shimmy’s work ethic remains relentless. Having previously recorded in unconventional spaces—from private jets to the back of black trucks while on tour with Lil Baby and Sexyy Red—his environment has shifted, but his drive has not. Recently, he managed to cut a remix of “Type Shit” with YTB Fatt and Fox BD, enlist Rob49 for a verse, and film a music video all within a 24-hour window.

The collaboration with Drake, titled “I’m Spent,” represents a more deliberate creative process. Shimmy originally sent the song idea to the superstar over a year ago. The track has quickly emerged as a standout on the massive triple-album project, characterized by shimmering chords and a nocturnal, piano-driven atmosphere that echoes the aesthetic of Shimmy’s 2024 project, Nardyworld. The song highlights a unique chemistry, with Drake adopting a deeper, more tender vocal register that complements Shimmy’s signature gliding falsetto.

Reflecting on their relationship, Shimmy recalls the early days when Drake first posted his music. “It was unexpected,” Shimmy says. “That one single repost put a battery in my back; it made me believe in myself more.” That initial support served as a catalyst during a time when Shimmy was still questioning his path in the industry. Since then, the two have developed a genuine rapport. “When we linked in person, it was just genuine energy,” he explains. “I love his music, he fucks with my music, and I just fuck with bro hard.”

Regarding the creation of “I’m Spent,” Shimmy notes that Drake’s involvement was hands-on. “He helped orchestrate the whole song,” Shimmy says, describing the superstar as a “real wizard” for his ability to refine the production and arrangement. Even after a year had passed, Drake remembered the track and brought it to life for HABIBTI, proving that his support for Shimmy was far more than a fleeting social media moment.
